AUGH NO W T H W T H WHAT THE FREAKING H NO Unless something isn't breaking news even hours later, you know it was delayed until "early next year" again, right?

Yes, please, try to calm down. Especially regarding profanity, even if shortened (if you didn't mean that, it could still be very easily interpreted as such). ^^;
Now, I am curious- what are the exact effects this would be on the rest of the world, if in worst case scenario it passes? I'm curious if the other world leaders have a right to step in on this. I haven't really kept up with it, so maybe they already have.

Hm, I was under the impression why the fail was acceptable internet slang around these parts. ((EDIT: Welp, it just got filtered, so I guess not? )) Anyway, world leaders can't stop a US bill from becoming a US law. And this bill would only block sites from US viewers (I think?). It would still be a detriment to a lot of sites, esp. if they're US-based. Like, if no one in the US could visit Neopets without it being blocked, Neo would go down, period, since the US is the bulk of their site and their sponsorships and therefore their money. That sort of thing. At least, that's how I understand it. I could be very wrong.

Found this video about the hypocricy of SOPA. It's pretty good. Watch it.

I just got an email from one of the sites that had a petition, and it failed to move out of committee, so I guess it's finally dead!
But it seems PIPA (Protect IP Act) is still in effect, so we must still fight against that.

(Especially since it's almost Christmas where I am.) Though for future reference, what are the specifics for PIPA? I remember hearing something about blocking IPs, and I think it at least doesn't have the 'crazy sentences for little copyright breaches' thing.

So does this mean SOPA is done? For good?
*almost felt as though I could explode into pretty butterflies of happiness*

For the record, failure to make it out of committee means nothing. Committee meetings have been held on Nov 16 and Dec 15. The Dec one was for markup, i.e. amendment building--several amendments were rejected. They will continue debate on it in 2012 once the holiday recess is over.
This bill is not dead. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I understand and empathise with your frustration but if I assume correctly, you live in the US at least. You have the power to tell your congressperson how you feel about this idiotic act by either phoning them or writing to them. All we can do internationally is pray and wait. >_<

You're basically just signing a petition with your e-mail address, but it's still something.

Which is frustrating because if it passes, this bill will still affect us. We did not even vote for all people and they're still deciding our lives for us. >_< That's one of the many, many things wrong with this bill: it affects citizens of other countries who have no representatives that can speak for them against this law.
