Day 13
I haven't post anywere for quite a while. (Been WAY busy) But now that I've found some time I think I'll give you guys and excerpt! ;D
After all, I should have something to show for 21,866 words.
“What was that?” Faye said in alarm, “Did you hear that?”
Nathaniel was used to hearing this question by now,
“No honey, I didn't hear anything,” he replied, sipping wine. Many a man had worked up the courage to confess their love a woman, following Nathaniel's example, and a merry dance commenced. Thalion was clapping along, Gwen dancing with an unknown handsome man. She looked a little drunk to be honest. Faye and Nathaniel had taken a break from the energetic songs, sitting on stools pushed to the side. Faye got up and went to her father, whispering something into his ear. He stopped clapping, his face turning grave. Faye went to Gwendolyn next, and the same happened. Nathaniel trotted up to Faye, being careful not to step on anyone's toes.
“What's the matter?” He asked,
“I'm not sure,” She said. Thalion and Gwen were the only ones notified of Faye's worries. The rest danced along without a care.
The music turned slow, the sting intrurments playing hard. Couples joined hands, and those who had no partner found one. “Oh I love this song!” Faye said, the worry from earlier completely vanished. “Come on Nathaniel!”
“Oh I dunno,” He said, he never thought he was that good of a dancer.
“Come on you ninny,” Faye pleaded. She grabbed his hands hand pulling him off the stool. He placed his hand on her hip tenderly. Her hand floating into his. Faeries were dancing overhead, their brilliant lights flickering. Not following any steps, just doing what felt natural, they danced. They spun on the emerald grass, somehow avoiding everyone else. Faye burred her head under Nathaniel's chin. He could hear her sweet heart beat. The song sped up for a moment, and they crowd moved with it. The string interments caressing sharp movement, the flutes to slow, the drums to base steps. The music worked together beautifully. Nathaniel had never heard anything like it.
The whinny of a horse, the cry of a child, the shouts of men, the screams of women, and all went black.
His head was throbbing, and he ignored the warm fluid rushing down his face. That could wait, “FAYE!” Nathaniel shouted, no answer. His vision was blurry, he tried to get up, but couldn't. He saw the feet of horses, and heard a familiar sound...The sound of engines.
“FAYE!” He shouted once more, trying to move again. He could hear the shouts of Gwendolyn. Someone rushed to his side, “Nathaniel!”
