I feel a certain sense of obligation to post on this thread now that Adventure Time has infested every fibre of my being. =D; Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaah okay who else had no idea they were getting into a post-apocalyptic epic with some decidedly terrifying undertones when they started watching this show?
Because wow

Wait, with the latest episode—does this mean that
Ghost Princess is gone for good? She was, like, one of my favorites.
Also, did anyone else have any idea she'd end up having been War Princess during life? That entire flashback was kind of depressing in the adorably-animated, humorous way only Adventure Time can be. [/spoiler]

Hello, I'd like to join too! I love watching the shows, and I'm trying to read all the comics too. I really liked the Fionna and Cake episodes/comics, all the characters were really cute. I wish I could find a place that offers the newest Candy Capers issues to be read online, but so far I've only found the first issue. It stinks because I think the fourth one is already out. I also really like the songs on the show, like Best Friends in the World, I'm Just Your Problem, Remember You, and Good Little Girl. I find them so catchy and sing them from time to time

*brushes off some dust* After considering it for the longest time, I finally dived into this show about a week ago, and I'm in the middle of season three now The show's style and type of humor is not my usual taste, but I still find myself enjoying it and coming back for more episodes. At this point, I'm much more used to how the show works, but season one was definitely... odd for me XD I think what got me through it was the two main characters; I love Finn and Jake, both for their comedy and their upbeat personalities. I love how they have so much fun just being good people, but they're still not afraid to take action or make mistakes. Anyone else still around that likes the show? If so, how far are you? I heard that the storyline/emotional depth of the show really picks up in season four, and those are the elements that got me the most curious about the show. Would you as well say that's when things pick up, or does the show sort of stay the same in tone/style?

Twillie I love Adventure Time. xD The emotional depth does kick in later on, with the big first bombshell toward the end of season 3. The thing about this show is that basically every season has a different overall feel and creative direction. Seasons 4 through mid-5 (roughly) cover a major romantic arc and its aftermath, which I felt like was kind of a dork age--basically Finn goes through a shallow, obnoxious tweenage boy phase and can't stop stirring up crap and putting his foot in his mouth. But hey, some people really related to that, and also some of the better side plots are concentrated in season 4. Season 5 has some guest animators doing their own styles, so you get stuff like an episode all in chunky retro 3D, which is a treat. Season 6 is really abstract and offbeat, with a lot of cryptic dialogue and thematic strangeness. Season 7 goes back to episodic adventure format but also makes room for drama, with a lot of development for major side characters like PB who had largely remained static. Marceline also got an entire miniseries, and BMO got a two-parter. Basically all I can say is, the show changes a lot but that's part of the fun? It's kind of a rollercoaster.

I got to see that first bombshell last night, and now I'm in the middle of season four Ah, thanks for the basic layout; with how many episodes there are right now, I always found it hard to find exactly what people liked about the show without getting into spoilers X) One of my friends decided to watch it today, and she has no idea what to think XD I sort of jokingly recommended it to her as it didn't seem like something she'd really like, but she's still giving it a try, so I'm curious to see how she likes it.

Season six stuff, just in case ;P So, after "Breezy", does Finn just... have his arm back? I know it's sort of special with that thorn, and he can pull the grass sword out of his new arm, but... I'm still a bit disappointed that he just got his arm back after so few episodes of losing it. Especially with all they've built up to it with alternate universes and past lives of him with a mechanical arm, it seems very odd that real Finn wouldn't at least have that mechanical arm before getting his real one again.
The show's still going, I know, so maybe that'll come in later, but I'm not sure how likely it would be that they would make Finn lose the same arm twice XD

On the one hand, I'm curious to check out the new spin-off show Fionna and Cake, but on the other hand, I fell out of watching Adventure Time mid season six and haven't touched the show at all since 2016 xD I kind of want to just jump into Fionna and Cake anyway and see how well I catch on to things lol. I'm sure they've made the show so that newcomers can still enjoy it at least, and then there may just be references or foreshadowing that I don't fully notice.
Anyone who's been watching the show? How friendly do you think it would be for someone who hasn't been keeping up with Adventure Time for seven years? xD

Oh man. Haven't had a chance to catch F&C yet, but I really want to, it seems awesome. As usual, I get all my news about new shows because someone posted a tumblr gifset about them ( ) so take this with a grain of salt, but from what I've seen there are certain major characters present whose arcs might not make sense unless you've seen everything. I could be completely wrong, but either way my suggestion would be to read a quick recap of the first 5.5 seasons and then continue from where you left off, 'cause the show as a whole is definitely worth seeing at least once.
