I just came here to say that that Ylana pic is the best portrayal of the character ever.

Your art is beautiful Nat! I love the Desert Usul picture. Edit: I think the Usul is on the first page, whoops! Either way, your style is great. It's very much like a real world friend of mine's.

Posting a WIP because oh my gosh this has been an ordeal I've based this off of a classic painting. I'm not sure if I want to send it into the Art Gallery or if I even can, considering how much it borrows from a pre-existing work. :/ I'm fine with having it as just an exercise, though.

Some portraits! First is an old classmate, second is Lizzie, third is Nimras. The eyes on Nim's pic are kinda freaking me out. Sorry, Nim! D8

Oh wow Nat, the detail in these is really impressive! I really like the way you did the shading around your classmate's eyes and the highlighting on the lids, it really captures the volume of the eyelids and the texture of the skin. The eyes look so pretty and shiny, and I really like the blue-green used throughout the picture; the way it reflects on the skin brings the colors together, and the brighter pink lips are a nice accent. I really like the texture on the headphones too, I can just feel the squishy material they're made out of. I like the expression too, has a definite attitude. And Lizzie's picture looks so warm and cheery! I really like the definition in Nim's face; the highlighting and shading on her features give them a clear sense of form. You can really see the eyes sinking back and the nose coming forward. For the eyes, it may help to remember that the space between the eyes tends to be about the width of another eye, and that exposing more than a little white around the eye can create a shocked or unstable expression. Larger-than-life eyes can be a stylistic choice, but they can also look out-of-place on realistic faces, so it might be good to play around with proportions and dimensions of features to see what looks best. You use a lot of soft blended shading, which in some areas can create a look of careful attention to detail, but remember also that crisp, dark shadows can be very powerful for defining form. For example, (depending on lighting) the head often casts a strong shadow on the neck and shoulder, as seen in the work you were referencing for your Kyrii piece. It may help to try to find the three-dimensional shapes in the images you use for reference, to think of forms as cylinders and spheres instead of ovals and circles, and to define the structure on a basic level before moving on to more detail. I always love seeing the palettes you use, and the way you draw eyes so shiny is beautiful! Thank you for sharing these portraits.

Thank you so much for the feedback, Nut! I really need to work on some stuff. Last night I couldn't sleep and drew this guy. Might be of interest to @fangofthedead. Sketch version: Anatomy feedback much appreciated. I tried some weird perspective thing and I'm not sure if I succeeded.

OH HECK YES. I like to think he's walking through a fire he caused in a Meridellian village... Or perhaps a camp of Lord Darigan's loyalists/rebels. Or maybe Hunter's having a nightmare...
