And the story rolls on...A little under a day has passed since the NTWF World News Network broke the story on the rise of the Undead and their reign of terror in the forum. Yet despite this relatively short time period, a significant portion of the NTWF has fallen under Undead rule, with entire cities crippled by Zombies, Phantoms, and their ilk. In fact, just about half of these boards now rest in the rotted/incorporeal/just plain creepy hands of the Undead.
Citizens have fled to the remaining towns and taco carts that remain controlled by the living. These hotspots have taken on a sort of stronghold characteristic, open to any of those Mortals who wish to flee the wrath of hungry hungry Mummies and others. Meanwhile, those brave enough to tackle the terrors head on are fighting tooth and nail to eliminate these disturbing new forces and restore the forum to its rightful order.
What could this alarming rise of Undead mean? What do they want? We have an exclusive interview with one such Zombie to get their perspective on the matter: "Well, ultimately we just want Undead rights in the NTWF," he began, before cruelly tearing out our ace reporter's brain and munching on it with a dash of paprika he kept in his back pocket.
Further investigation has proven similarly muddled, and it is important to note that many of the Undead have been spotted fighting amongst each other. It appears that though these Undead have come on fast and strong, they are by no means united in their aims.
Likewise, the Mortal squads combating these Undead are equally disorganized. Though they share a similar goal -- eradicating the invaders -- they are at odds over how to accomplish this goal, which form of Undead is most dangerous, even which weapons best accentuate their outfits. As such, it would not be a total surprise to find this shaky corps dissolve into infighting at any moment.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is truly an unstable situation for all involved. Like the previous wars that have shaken our forum's core -- the Primary Color Campaign of 2006, the Mod Rank Color Conflict of 2008, and the horrific Crazy Adjectives Battle just last year -- this situation has escalated enough for this news network to label the current state of affairs:
Karmageddon IV!
We're serious this time.
***
Yes, all this really was an elaborate ruse to get you invested in our fourth battle royale. XD
Welcome one, welcome all to Karmageddon IV, and as our esteemed colleagues at the NTWF World News Network have put it so charmingly (that anchor sure is dapper, no?), this war promises to be the biggest and most contentious the NTWF has ever seen. And you can take part in it!
This year, Ginz and I've cooked up a bit of a narrative to let the battle play out, but the story's entirely up to you. Will you aid the Undead in their invasion, conquering every last Mortal? Will you battle the forces of evil as a Mortal combatant and take down these pesky Undead once and for all? It's all in your hands!
For those new to the game, Karmageddon is all about the karma. Each team will get an allotment of karma, which constitutes their health in the game. Once they hit 0, they're out of the game. Last team standing wins it all! Each player can either heal their own teammates or attack their opponents by using the exalt and smite buttons. You can heal or attack once per hour, so use your points wisely and recruit as many to your side as you can! Remember, anything is fair game, so if you want to backstab your allies or sell your smites for a price if it means you'll get the upper hand, then by all means go for it! Just remember the same thing can be done to you. ;D
As always, there are two ways to play:
Team Player or
Mercenary. No team has ever won Karmageddon without the aid of both types of player, so make your choice carefully! Team Players form the core of the team, and therefore are expected to be more active in contributing to their team. The best team players give their all in securing a win for their side. Mercs on the other hand, have a bit more flexibility in their activity levels and their allegiances. If you have less time to commit to the game, or if switching sides sounds like fun to you, mercenaries might be the way to go.
In honor of it being the fourth Karmageddon, there will be
four teams competing: two teams of Mortals and two teams of Undead. The team players will be sorted based on the team preferences you sign up with, but be aware that in order for Ginz and I to keep things as fair as possible, you may not get your top choice so that the teams are equally distributed. But you can rest assured that whichever team you get placed on, you'll have every shot to win it all. ;D
So without further ado! If you would like to be a Team Player, sign up below,
with your top four team preferences from the following list:
Undead: Zombies, Ghosts, Mummies, Phantoms
Mortals: Clerics, Zombie Hunters, Ghostbusters, Graverobbers
You can pick your preferences from any of these eight; you are not limited to one side or the other. Once we hit our maximum number of team players (first come, first serve), the signups will be closed and we'll get to work sorting you guys out.
Any questions you guys have can be PMed to me (username: dan4848) or Ginz (username: imogenweasley), or posted right here on the thread. ^_^
So get going! Karmageddon waits for no one!
