It's a classic novel written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, written about the public shaming of an adulteress with the letter A patched onto her clothing.

It's actually not a bad read, and the novel is rather short in length. Maybe two hundred pages or so? The descriptions though are what make it unique, in that they're lengthy yet easy to read, and that they constantly make one wonder if Hawthorne is being really clever or really shallow with his plot.
