At that instant, Saeryennan fell to the ground, unconscious. For some reason Nyvenne did not look frightened.
A few minutes later, the princess's eyes burst open. She pulled herself up.
"I just saw Xandra...here, in Altador. And there was some Eyrie...she's coming back to us. I don't know who the Eyrie is, though."
She made her way over to Miraja, who was on the ground since Saeryennan had been practically carrying her.
"Miraja!" she said. "Nyvenne, you have to help her!"
With a wave of Nyvenne's hand a warm breeze came and lifted Miraja up, taking her back to Altador Palace.

"This feels so confusing..." Malice said with her hissing voice, she was trying to ignore the tempting energy coming from the portal. "How could she be in the Heavens if she's alive...?"
"Forget about it! This means we'll have less work to do!" Vanity crossed her arms angrily and began flapping her wings with elegance, wich was weird since Dark Faerie's wings aren't the most...delicate. "I'm waaaiting. All this waste of time made me lose my patience!"
"Alright, alright! We're returning to the palace, beaty queen!" Spite showed off her tongue and began flapping her wings as well.
"Since when you're tongue is pink, Spite?" Vanity noticed. "It was supposed to be blue...like mine!"
"..." The youngest of the fairies tried to stare at her own tongue, and when she caught sight of the ordinary color... "NYAAAAH! That portal is stealing my blue-ness!"
"It's your darkness, not 'blue-something'! You're turning nice!" Malice yelled in shock, noticing her skin was starting to look like Nyvenne's. "Vanity, your wings are getting more delicate! This is outragious, let's get OUT OF HERE!"
And so, a silcer tornado surrounded the group, taking them back to Altador Palace.

Xandra jumped back with shock when she saw the glimpse of the Lupe and Aisha. She looked too much like...
"Merra?" Xandra asked, trying to forget about it. "My sister...oh, Kaly! I should get back there as soon as possible if I can...or you could at least let her know I'm safe. Could any of you...?"
A tear fell from the corner of one of her sea-green eyes. It was the first time in so many years that she had ever let herself cry. When she had first escaped from Katriana and been rescued by the Faerie Queen (which unfortunately hadn't kept Katriana away from her), she had begun to hide her misery. The poor resentful little Xweetok had cast magic to hold her tears in, fogging up her eyes until they had looked quite dark. But now they were green again, as they had been at the beginning.

(Sirocco's gonna stay out of the story for a while. I'll rotate my pets in and out.) "What is it you wish to ask me, little Alyxandra?" Merra looked concerned. This Xweetok was so inquisitive. "You want to know about... About Finnegan Teach?" Merra looked sullen upon saying this.
"Hark. Someone awakens..." Arthur closed his eyes. "My son. He's rushing to the aid of the two princesses as we speak."
"I'm certain they'll need more help..." Merra closed her eyes and concentrated. There was only one other who knew the fate of Finnegan Teach. She reached out, her message emanating from their heavenly realm into the depths of Neopia's oceans, to the ruins of Old Maraqua. Her old caretaker, the one who had watched over her when she was young and then watched over her and Finnegan's children before they left for New Maraqua... Maraqua's Battlemaster, Zarkos. The powerful yet sleek Jetsam, covered in Maractite rune tattoos, stirred from his slumber and heeded Merra's call, clutching his anchor-hammer in his hand. He swam up towards the surface and guided a massive wave towards the mainland, riding the raging surf.

"Hey look! It's turning purple!" Spite showed off her tongue to her sisters. They were back to the library at the palace, and the faerie's were turning back into what they used to be quickly, Vanity's wings were sharper, Malice's skin was blue and pale and Spite's tongue was getting creepier.
"Interesting..." Malice mumbled, analyzing her hands. "Whatever lays inside that portal, it desires power at any cost!"
"I believe that's what's happening to Miraja, since that world can't extract her energy by the air like it did with us, it's using tendrils!" Vanity said, sitting by the shenkuuvian princess's side. "Such a shame she's not on our side, I feel so much power in her soul!"
"What you mean hy that?! My soul is powerful, too!" Spite said, clearly jealous. "Those tendrils are no match for me!"

"What are all of these Dark Faeries doing here?" The Jetsam strode in, easily dwarfing the faeries and... Well, everyone. He wore a scowl on his face and some Maractite armor. Although most of his skin was covered, the markings on his skin would match those on his armor due to it being a custom-made armor for the Battlemaster and the Battlemaster alone. "And... Hunter?"
The White Lupe strode in, still in just his trousers and a bandage across his chest. "Zarkos! It's nice to see you, old friend. And where's... MIRAJA!" Hunter ran over to Miraja, who was still recovering from the tendril attack. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine..." Miraja got up. She was limping, but otherwise was okay. "Zarkos!" Miraja ran towards Zarkos and gave him a hug. "What brings you here?"
"I... Just had a feeling you two children would need my aid."

With the aid of Nyvenne's magic, Miraja floated down onto Saeryennan's bed. The Cybunny princess stood nearby, worried.
"Miraja..." she said, closing her eyes. For the first time ever she was trying to invoke a prophecy. It could not be done.
She opened her eyes and sighed. "I hope she'll be okay..."
Finnegan Teach?
"Who is...Finnegan Teach?" Xandra asked. She'd hoped to abandon it altogether, but Merra had already said something, so it couldn't be helped. She turned to Phelius.
"Please let my sister know I'm okay."

"Well, for your information we are in an important mission and we would be very pleased with a bit of respect." Malice hissed at the jetsam.
"Yes, we are ladies, after all!" Vanity walked over to Zarkos with confidence, she looked extremely fragile next to him, so her confidence didn't made much effect. "the Darkest Faerie herself sent us to find Alyxandra, who was captured by the eyrie that refuses to die, I bet your lupe friend knows him well." She rolled her eyes.
"The thing is, we can't locate her!" Spite crossed her arns grumply. "At first she was in a kind of power sick dimension that tried to suck Miraja's energy and is really interested in Saeryennan and all the magical beings in Neopia!" she said, making poses and trying to make it all sound dramatic.
"And now she's in Heaven." Malice closed her eyes serenely. "Oh, what a remarkable Xweetok, she's not even dead yet!"

"Listen, Dark faeries." Zarkos scowled. "I rarely would ever trust a Faerie to do a Neopian's job. Especially a Dark Faerie. Your kind, not even the Water Faeries, helped rebuild Maraqua." Zarkos had many issues with the faeries. Not only did none of them stop Scarblade, but it seemed that those three Water Faeries known as the Drenched actively tried to sabotage any rescue efforts. "So leave. NOW." He raised his anchor hammer in front of his face, dead serious.
"I will try to let her know you're okay. After all, the Book of Life syas you have a very long life ahead of you, Xandra." The Lenny wrote an inscription on Kalara's page, sending a message into her mind to not worry about her younger sister.
"Finnegan Teach..." Merra crafted a glowing sphere of water with images of a proud young green Lupe in blue admiral's clothes. "Ten years ago, Admiral Finnegan Teach was a proud member of Krawk Island's Navy. He was their greatest boon, keeping any of the more malevolent pirates of Krawk and Scurvy Island from wreaking havoc anywhere on the five seas. His ship, The Scales of Justice, was the largest ship ever constructed; it could hold one thousand crew members." The image zoomed out, showing Finnegan was standing on the bow of a massive white-and-gold ship, with the Krawk Island coat-of-arms on its sails. "Not only that, but Finnegan Teach was the man I loved..." It then showed Finnegan's first meeting with Merra. "However, I was forbidden to leave the city, as a judge named Strom sought my hand in marriage." The glistening sphere then showed a rather pompous-looking Maraquan Elephante. "When he found out, he demanded that I was sentenced to house imprisonment until I agreed to the wedding. Naturally, Finnegan challenged him to a gentleman's duel..." The sphere showed the Lupe and the Elephante engaged in a duel, the Lupe wielding his sword and the Elephante his cane-sword. "Strom had some of his servants attempt to rig the fight in his favor, and to prevent Finnegan's death, I swam in between the two, and while Finnegan refused to fight with my life at risk, Strom struck me - hard." Xandra watched in horror as the Elephante hurled the Aisha aside with a mighty strike of his cane. "The blow broke many of my bones and was fatal. Strom didn't even offer to help me, claiming that I deserved to die for loving a man that was not him. Finnegan... Finnegan blamed all of Maraqua. He didn't even know that, months before hand, I had given birth to his children, who I left in the care of my family's loyal guard..." When they showed Merra's body being placed into her family's mausoleum, a strong Blue Jetsam in Maraquan mourning attire was holding on to two young Maraquan Aisha children's hands. "As Zarkos never could find Finnegan to tell him about his children... Finnegan grew bitter after losing me. The duel with Strom had given him a scar across his eye. The man I loved... Finnegan... Was dead. From that moment on... He would be known as Captain Scarblade, ruler of Scurvy Island." Merra cried. "His lust for revenge corrupted him, turning him into a monster. But I know there's something good in him, I just know it."
Meanwhile, in the world of the living, Miraja was in her nightwear and meditating through yoga to try and restore her energy. She seemed far more lively than she did a few moments before. She heard a knock on the door. "I'm almost ready, Hunter."
"Please, hurry up! Zarkos won't wait much longer!"
"Coming!' Miraja did one last stretch, and went behind a changing screen to change into her usual ninja garb, and grabbed her fan. She opened the door and embracd Hunter. "It's good to have you back to normal, Sparklepants."
"Good to see you're back to your old self too, Miraja." Hunter laughed gently, returning the embrace.
"When you two young lovers are finished," Zarkos deadpanned, frowning like he always did, "We're leaving with Saeryennan now. It seems the Faeries didn't want to aid me. Useless as always." He scowled. Zarkos just could not get along with Faeries, it seemed.

Suddenly, something struck Kalara. Her sister was safe. she didn't know why or how, she just knew.
Xandra sighed. "I'm sorry I asked, Merra...I really shouldn't have mentioned that I saw that in the first place..."
"I'm coming," Nyvenne said. "I will help you locate Xandra, if that's what we're doing."
Saeryennan still wondered. She hadn't noticed those tendril things being interested in her.
"Why," she asked, "would those tentacle things want me? My prophecy?"

"No." Zarkos glowered down at Saeryennan. "They merely go after beings with a strong life force. You and Miraja have both have great willpower. Stay. Here." Zarkos gestured to Hunter and Miraja." Move, you two."
"I think Sae should come with us." Miraja stood her ground, standing on the tips of her toes to look up at the Jetsam. "Alright?"

"I can't believe this." Vanity hissed, her arms were crossed, her face was slightly red, and her hair strings seemed to gain life as she got angrier. "That was the most offensive thing I EVER heard in my life/eternity, I just feel like challenging him to use that anchor on my head just so I can rest in peace."
"Tsk tsk...you know how hard it is to clean blood from the floor, keep it cool. If the jetsam over there just can't deal with our company then Iguess we'll have to follow them from behind." Malice calmed down her annoying and stressed sister.
"No, honestly! He just confirmed that if we stay too close he'll use the anchor on us, he made clear that he thinks neopets are superior even tough we faeries keep the wraiths away, what a hypocrite...not to mention that Xweetok owns you, Malice!" Vanity grumbled as loud as she could, don't get her wrong...it's part of a dark faerie's nature being annoying and not thinking about Zarko's reasons.
"Quit the yelling, it looks like we'll have to kill the eyrie by oursleves, so it will prove once and for all faeries are just as good as neopets!" Spite encouraged the group. "Tough that portal isin't a very healthy thing to get near to...how about attracting him out?"
Malice and Vanity were surprised by Spite's idea, if Kass went out of the portal he'd be without his tendrils, the world of the living was something the faeries and the neopets were used to, it was a world that wasn't against them.

Meanwhile, in the Realm of the Three...
"That old ferryman should be here any time now." Kass sat on a pillar of burning rock by a raging sea of darkness, watching as the icy cold wind crafted waves from the oily depths, and unspeakable beasts swam in the mire near the shores of bubbling muck. However, the echoing roar of an organ stood out against the unearthly sea and the vast swirling storm, and a great ship, larger than some islands, emerged from the depths of the sea. A crew who had sold their souls to the ferryman for immortality had locked away the souls of those who had failed to keep their debts to the Three. In blood red letters on the massive ship's starboard side, the word "Revenge" was easily readable to all. The ship's bell, a grim reminder of the mortality of all, heralded the emergence of the ship's captain - Scarblade. The ship weighed anchor near the bubbling, quicksand-like shore, and although its crew effortlessly walked upon the sand, the chained lines of the darned sank within the sand, kept on their feet with a cat o' nine tails used by Two-Ton Tim, the hulking Elephante Quartermaster. Scarblade walked across the sand with a limp, exposing the fact that in his fight against Zarkos, the captain lost the use of his right leg.
"Any o' these souls under your jurisdiction, Kass?" Scarblade spoke with a vaguely Meridellian (read: Scottish) brogue, his voice tinged with barely-contained rage.
"I'm not here for that, Scarblade. It's about our deal. You know I plan to overthrow the three, and that the so-called 'God of the Desert' needs his souls to aid me."
"I know ye found a way to free me from this debt. More importantly, ye know of -"
"A way I can bring your beloved Merra back from the dead. The exact same deal you made with the Three, only I actually plan on keeping my end of the bargain." Kass laughed icily.

The sisters looked like three vipers whispering together, even tough their intentions weren't bad their hearts were full of hatred, jealousy and ambition, it was something they couldn't control.
"What do you mean, using the lupe knight to attract Kass?!" Spite repeated Malice's words in shock, even tough she was the jealousy faerie there was a good side in her, like in every faerie's heart. "You know, it would work since the crazy eyrie seems to have a little obsession on killing him, but still...it doesn't sounds right, he could get hurt for good, or even worse!"
"You've been spending too much time with those neopets, Spite!" Malice rolled her eyes, her long eyelashes made it more intense and dramatic. "Besides, we're not doing it without his permission. Vanity, go ask him, don't forget...sound serious and humble."
Vanity wasn't happy about going near the neopets again, the feeling of not being trusted was pleasant most of time...but not when you needed them to trust you. The faerie tried to look as casual as she could. Serious, yet humble. she tough, the words sounded disgusting but sacrifices were part of the game. At the time she got close enough to Hunter to make a simple question, she got a bit nervous with Zarkos' so close with that dangerous looking anchor of his.
"Sir...Hunter." she said, deciding that a silly 'hello' wouldn't do it. "Me and my sisters have a request. The portal that leads to Kass seems to take people to a very dangerous dimension, a world that seems to be alive and would do anything to get power." she said slowly, nervous about not being taken seriously. "Perhaps it would be wise if Kass was attracted out of the realm, Malice suggested you to kindly step in front of the portal so that he'd feel your presence and....come out, and than we'd be in advantage to fight...?"
Vanity felt the blood returning to her cheeks, well...she made it. But there was still one thing left, a very hard task to be completed... "And I'm...sorry, Zarkos." She didn't knew exactly why she was saying sorry, but something inside her said she should.

"... I forgive you." Zarkos crossed his arms and strapped the anchor to his back. "I've... Had many bad experiences with Faeries."
"I doubt it would be that simple. There's a reason Kass nearly won the second war. He's a tactical genius." Hunter sat down.
