Washing Up 11th of January, 2011One of my favorite things to do, believe it or not, is take a bath or shower. Not only do you get clean, but you also get to enjoy all the elements that make it a great experience. The warm water gently pattering or rippling, the relaxing, steamy atmosphere, the quiet seclusion and privacy, the calming methodical process of washing oneself. It's especially wonderful if you've just experienced extreme temperature. A lovely arm shower after a very cold day is bliss. If you wash up in the morning, it's invigorating and revitalizing. If you wash up at night, it's soothing and calming and helps you drift off to sleep with warm fuzzy feelings. And the best part is, you get to do it as often as you like. And just to make it that little bit more awesome, I present my gift to you. Photos of a grumpy rat who doesn't like having a bath. :/

Seals! 13th of January, 2011Once, on the 'bloids, there was a seal war. Adorable seals were posted left and right for no good reason other than the fact that they are adorable seals. And now...they return.

Big People Words. January 14th, 2011
(Sorry for the Smile Spam!) This is a story my friend told me one day:
'A group of kindergartners were trying very hard to become accustomed to the first grade. The biggest hurdle they faced was that the teacher insisted on NO BABY TALK! "You need to use 'Big People' words," she was always reminding them.
She asked Chris what he had done over the weekend. "I went to visit my Nana." "No, you went to visit your GRANDMOTHER. Use 'Big People' words!"
She then asked Mitchell what he had done. "I took a ride on a choo-choo." "No," she said, "you took a ride on a TRAIN. You must remember to use 'Big People' words."
She then asked little Alex what he had done. "I read a book," he replied. "That's WONDERFUL!" the teacher said. "What book did you read?"
Alex thought very hard about it, then puffed out his chest with great pride and said, "Winnie the [Swear]!"'
...I thought it was cute.

This one has a bit of a Christian slant to it, but it should still be applicable to everyone. ^^
Strength 16th of January, 2011
Strength (noun) 1. the property of being physically or mentally strong; "fatigue sapped his strength" 2. military capability: capability in terms of personnel and materiel that affect the capacity to fight a war; "we faced an army of great strength"; "politicians have neglected our military posture" 3. force: physical energy or intensity; "he hit with all the force he could muster"; "it was destroyed by the strength of the gale"; "a government has not the vitality and forcefulness of a living man"
I'll stop there since you probably get the point. This is how the world defines strength. It is forceful, often intrusive or physical. There is also mental strength, the fortitude to withstand attacks. There is one's talent, where their strength lies, what they're good at. We see it as something to be prized, this obnoxious view of strength.
But ask yourself this; if someone hurts or insults you, how much strength does it take to insult them back? Or hold a grudge? Or get upset? Or maybe even hit them? And how much strength does it take to forgive them?
It takes brute force to be considered strong in this world, and yet it is always the meek who are the strongest by virtue of their meekness. Those who changed the world were the peaceful, the downtrodden, the ones who, rather than lashing out or forcing a confrontation, simply had patience and self control. They changed the world through understanding and acceptance, through forgiveness and love.
To the world, a sword or a pen or a sharp tongue are strong. But true strength is the absence of these things, and the overwhelming and revealing truth that lies only in patience and love.

Late-Night Conversations 16th of January, 2011
We all know them.
They're those conversations with those people you love, those conversations that just keep on going, rambling on to the silliest and deepest topics, going places you never would've imagined if you were fully conscious. Those conversations where you're too awake to sleep, but not awake enough for coherency. Those conversations where you meet another person at their deepest level, for the night and silence strips away at their barriers and you get to know them for who they are.
They're those late-night conversations that you wish would never end. That bind friendships into being, and draw closer ones that already exist. That allow revelations of love that might not otherwise be shared. That give insights into minds. That spark such profound thoughts that you wonder how you might possibly have thought something like that up, especially so late at night.
They're those late-night conversations about anything and everything under the sun. And they're magical, and joyous, and glorious, and leave such beautiful memories behind, memories that make us smile, and laugh, and remember good times past and good times that are ahead.
<3
((And, as a side-note, Time Zones make me smile. I'm posting after Sarn, yet the timestamp on this post is a day before that on hers. The world and the shapes we give it are truly amazing, sometimes.))
