Zylaa felt quite gratified, knowing that Zagora had in fact been trying to help them. Though why mysterious forces of eccentric magic never came out and explained these sorts of things was still beyond her.
"The sword that cleaves evil will find you! And cleave you!"
"So if we're not doing any Snark-hunting anytime soon, I'll fetch the Blarf," Zylaa said brightly. She turned back through the clearing and approached the Blarf, who had a look of utter contentment on his face as he scratched behind one ear. Considering how covered it was in spiderwebs, branches, leaves, fruit pulp, and dirt, Zylaa didn't know how it could be content about anything. She wondered if the crew would have to give it a bath.
"Come on, boy," she called. "We need your help out here."
With an obliging "Blarf!" it raised itself to its feet, shaking vigorously, dislodging at least a few of the sticks. Zylaa turned back towards the clearing and got a nice, panoramic view of the crew and all its tagalongs. It was a nice, peaceful scene of intimidation past.
... A nice, peaceful scene missing one of its members.
"Hey, where'd the coati go?" Zylaa called as she lead the Blarf back into the clearing. "Nasue?" She recalled a rustling she'd heard earlier, one she had dismissed as yet another jungle animal. "Nasue?" again, a bit louder. When nobody responded, she turned towards her vague memory of the sound, drew her sword and grabbed a few shinies in her left hand, ready to throw.

Draco turns around to see what was behind him, but all he see's is a shadow of something disappear. He runs over to try and find what it was, but there is no trace of what it was or where it went. He sighs.
"The sword that cleaves evil will find you! And cleave you!"
He lifts his head up.
"What is he doing now?"
He begins to run in the direction he believes the sound came from.
"I wonder if something happened at camp..."
He uses the mountain in the distance as a landmark to help him go in the right direction. After a few minutes of running however, he notices he's riding along side of the mountain though. He turns back to the mountain and begins to run, and like last time he was running parallel to the mountain. He growls to himself and tries again, and the mountain appears behind him.
"What is going on?!"
Looking around wildly he tries to find a new landmark. He spots a odd shaped tree and runs to it. He focuses in on it. He doesn't take it out of his sight. His eyes do not leave the tr-WHAM! He runs into the tree face first. Holding his nose, it wasn't bleeding luckily, he looks around.
"I didn't get misguided this time...."
Looking at the mountain, it was where it was supposed to be. He scans the area and finds another tree, and repeats what he just did. He arrives at the tree. He continues this, heading in the direction of the camp.
"So whatever trickery is going on here let me leave the group, but it doesn't want me to get back to them easily...."

((*insert obligatory comment personifying the RP by stating that it is deceased but that it would be good if it wasn't any more here*))
"Hey, where'd the coati go?"
"I dunno, she was here a se-" Jina coughed. "Second ago. Weird, my throat just went sore all of a sudden..."
Sezzer turned to look at her. "Oh. Um. Yeah, I forgot to mention... side effect of the aura stealing thing... you're sort of... going to get petrified. Not completely, I didn't take all of your aura, you'll probably just be able to move your eyes or something."
"What?"
"Hey, don't blame me, you were the one that was staring. And anyway, you should count yourself lucky, if it was complete petrification, it would probably kill you. As far as I know, only a Sphinx can do that safely."
"Well can't you, y'know, do someth" - cough - "something?"
Sezzer frowned. "Erm. No. Not really. The process can't be reversed until it's completed, so I guess the Sphinx is the only one that can help... and I doubt it will."
"Oh. Well that's gr-"
...And there goes my voice. How fun.
Hello, little one.
And I'm hearing things too. Life keeps getting better and better. ...Since when did "pirate" become a slang term for "voodoo witch's monkey", anyway?
Hearing things? No, you're thinking things. This is called petrifopathic communication. It's an ability that us Spinxes have had for quite some time.
...Oh. Incidentally, are you sure Sphinxes is the right word? Not Sphinxi, or something?
Yes, I'm sure. I am one, thought the Sphinx. Now think closely, I've got a message I want you to pass on for me.
A few moments later, Jina felt able to move again. "Hey guys, apparently the Sphinx is feeling nice today. It told me to say that it'll let us go free... providing, and I quote, we knock the megahexapod out cold and leave it in this clearing. Not really sure what that's about, but if we need to knock something out, I have some chloroform..."

Ikkin wasn't sure how she managed to avoid simply running Sezzer through for what he had done to Jina, but she did; the more rational side of her somehow won out with the argument that she couldn't be sure whether there'd be any way to help Jina if he was gone. By the time he admitted that the Sphinx itself was the only one who could help, though, that last remaining bit of restraint started to disintegrate.
"Give me one reason not to put three feet of steel through your throat," she said as she pressed the point of her blade right up against his adams apple, her voice soft but dangerous. A trickle of blood seeped out from where her blade touched; she wasn't pressing hard enough to do permanent damage, but her blade was still very sharp. "I don't take very well to people treating my friends like that."
Sezzer gulped nervously, leaned back away from the blade and took a step backwards, but Ikkin pressed forward and kept the blade up against him as he moved. He waffled for a bit, clearly trying to come up with some kind of response that wouldn't result in impalement, but before he could say anything else, Jina's voice started to return.
"Hey guys, apparently the Sphinx is feeling nice today. It told me to say that it'll let us go free... providing, and I quote, we knock the megahexapod out cold and leave it in this clearing. Not really sure what that's about, but if we need to knock something out, I have some chloroform..."
Oh, lovely. This just kept getting better and better, didn't it?
"Well, I'm sorry to disappoint the sphinx," Ikkin said sarcastically, turning slightly towards Jina but keeping her blade right at Sezzer's throat, "but I doubt that our captain would take very kindly to such a suggestion." She also rather doubted that Jina could even carry enough chloroform to knock out the Blarf, but she wasn't about to say that out loud given the current state of things. "You should probably warn the sphinx that if it even tries to hold you hostage via petrification, we'll all be out for its life rather than finding our Snark and leaving peacefully, though."
