Music! A wonderful art that quite often complements stories and makes writing them way more epic. So what excellent writing music do you recommend? I'm gonna divide my suggestions up into moods, since really, nobody wants to write a love scene to Carmina Burana. I know my list is small now, but I'll be updating it soon in the same post. Also, does anyone know of any free playlist-makers online? I found one a while ago that I sadly forgot to bookmark. Ominous Epic: Carmina Burana Carol of the Bells-- Trans Siberian Orchestra version (Yes, I know it's based on a Christmas song... trust me, it's epic) Requiem for a Dream/Requiem for a Tower Epic: (there's totally a difference >_>)Simple and Clean (instrumental) Disney's Illuminations soundtrack Creepy:Pan's Labyrinth Soundtrack Sad: Pan's Labyrinth Soundtrack To Zanarkand Dearly Beloved (I prefer the Kingdom Hearts II version) Pippin's Song from Return of the King Happy: Disney's Illuminations soundtrack Twu Wuv:

Yeah, I had been meaning to make a thread like this for a while-- then saw your status and thought "Now, at 1 in the morning when I should be doing homework, is as good a time as any!" =D Thanks!

Oh, and Ominous Epic? Pretty much all of Century Child but especially the songs "Beauty of the Beast", and "Bless the Child"

Hmm, let's see what I can pull off (or not pull off) of Youtube... Ominous Latin Chanting: Song of the SpiritDies Irae (Requiem), by Karl JenkinsEpic/Happy/Triumphant: HomelandEpic/Lonely ABI_Official_Ambient, from The Nameless Mod soundtrack. There's an Audiosurf version on Youtube here if you don't mind the Audiosurf sound effects. Creepy: DXO_Ambient, also from The Nameless Mod soundtrack. It sounds like cosmic horror. If I was ever put in charge of making a SCP Foundation movie, I would use this track. If I knew how to make Youtube videos, I would probably try to post the Nameless Mod tracks. xD Edit: Just remembered a sad song. Perfect Day.

Sorry to say, but I would have no problems writing a love scene while listening to Carmina Burana. Guess I'm weird. Epic/All moods: Conan the Babarian Soundtrack by Basil Poledouris (skip the 1st track, as it's mostly spoken) Lawrence of Arabia Soundtrack by Maurice Jarre Drama: Todvia cantamos (The Tailor of Panama Soundtrack) Munich Soundtrack by John Williams Pirates of the Carribean Soundtracks Historical: Sense and Sensibility Soundtrack by Patrick Doyle Chorale from the Day for Night Soundtrack by Georges Delerue (great piece for Repeat One) Dreamy: The Wedding night (Frankenstein Soundtrack) by Patrick Doyle Any Nicola Piovani Soundtrack.

=D Zylaa! You're amazing!! I used Trans-Siberian music for last year's NaNo!! Why thank you! ^___^ Yeah I love Trans-Siberian orchestra. I got to see them in concert once. <3 Chao-- XD That would be an epic love scene. And weirdness is good, that's how we get original writing, after all.

I just found one of the best lonely/pensive/"sad" writing soundtracks ever -- Max Avery Lichtenstein's music from the documentary Tarnation. Particularly this song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkNnbHczZ5kIt's really quite beautiful.

The only soundtracks I own are ones that I absolutely love, and use all the time when I'm brainstorming:
WALL-E soundtrack and A Series of Unfortunate Events soundtrack, both by Thomas Newman.
There's a really wide variety of sounds and emotions, and I've found that they really help me to focus my ideas sometimes. When I'm actually writing, though, I need it totally silent.
