Erm, this'll be strange and hopefully awesome. I had this idea about nomadic tribal system and a de facto king and a leader who gets deposed and an exile from the royal house who wants to redeem himself (that's Rashat) and who ends up trying to fight a superpower in order to get back what he's lost.
I've sworn to myself that I won't use magic, but I'm not against having Shamans (WANT!) and maybe I'll use psionics. ^_^
I do have plenty of planning done, just not really in a mood to explain/spoil it all. xDD

I have the past set out nicely now. Shall work more on the current setting. I've gone for nomadic desert tribal groups with said king being an elected tribal leader. Also, yay for psionics, so many options. <3

Hey, nomads. =D And the rest of this also sounds quite neat; from the sound of it, the main characters are quite in the centre of the action. (And kudos to you for working out the past; I'm not even going to try. xD)

Thankee, Rikku-luff. :3
Ok, Rashat is evolving so fast inside my head that I can't write down the new ideas before I've moved on to the next 'bigger and better' idea. xD It's rather scary, actually. I've moved on from the desert idea because I know very little about desert life, so instead I'll have them semi-nomadic hunter-gatherers and perhaps in Roman-occupied Gaul (that's Germany, if you're wondering) or maybe even a Celtic theme... Anglo-Saxon or... God help me, Britons - mainly so I can have an Aruthur. xD
KIDDING! ... sorta...
Anyway, so I've got me a king, Shamgar, who'll be a bit of a prick, really, and Rashat is his nephew. Nehiah is the leader of his own little group and looks after Rashat after his banishment. I'm still trying to find out what the war/social leader titles are, though I've got plenty of info on warfare itself. Also, I'm thinking of having Camulus make a dramatic entry at some point, because I love him. :3

=3 That sounds quite epic! You shouldn't worry about research too much for NaNo unless it really bugs you. Generally just write what you think it is while making a note to look it up later and edit. (Although forgive me for questioning this but wasn't Gaul mostly France? ^^;; )
Anyway...*stalks this thread*

Crudmuffin, ok when I typed that post up, it was 2:36am and I'd had no sleep thus far. FORGIVE ME! D: Yes, it was mostly France and Belgium and, at some point, western Switzerland, and the parts of the Netherlands and Germany on the west bank of the River Rhine. *tries to revive my brain*

Ok, so Rashat gets kicked out because of a failed treaty and his uncle needed someone to blame. He was a scapegoat. But I need him to turn against his newly adopted clan and I can't figure out the exact event that should do that. Maybe a raid or some other way for him to learn that they don't really care for him, turn him bad and get him angry. >D

^-^ Thankee Saro.
So I have Ordeon. He's a rather shifty fellow, an adviser to the king, and probably the biggest baddy of the whole thing, though he's sly enough that few catch him. Rashat hates him, as do most other people, but they'll never tell him, because the king has a soft spot for his clever wit and silver tongue. Ordeon is the sorta fellow I'd like to beat over the head with a plank of wood studded with 6" rusty nails.
He is now the cause of Rashat's downfall, though you didn't hear that from me. ^_~

Wow, that sounds like a really great story. And though I would have loved to read about the nomads, I can understand why you moved it to Europe. If you chose as time the barbarian migration period you'd still have a bit of the nomadic elements plus you have a lot of potential for conflicts thanks to tribes moving through the area.

Uhm, yeah. Rashat has been buried for now. I will not be doing NaNo given my emotional/physical state. I will one day pick it up and write quality rather than quantity. One day.
