I started this last night around 5:30 am when I was really sleepy. I don't know why it turned into this, but it's rather horrific and weird. I always get my meanest ideas when I'm half asleep. I was interrupted before finishing writing it and made to go to bed, so that meant I had to finish it tonight...
I'm just glad this one was a dream sequence...
She glanced around the room, and spotted the book tucked under the arm of it's owner. There was no way for her to get a hold of it from inside her magical cell. She sighed, and with nothing better to do while she waited, began to day dream.
She was walking down the hallway of her home, the smell of turkey in the air. It was thanksgiving, and it was dinner time. She walked down the stairs and joined her family around the kitchen table.
They went around, saying what they were thankful for.
"I'm thankful for my family and home," she said when it was her turn.
Her father picked up the knife and started to carve it.
Suddenly, the bird leaped up from the platter it was on and began flying around the room. It spun around, and then morphed into the shape of her kidnapper.
He laughed, and magically sent the cutlery flying around the room as well. Her family ducked and screamed, and Zoe knew she had to do something. She leaped up from her chair, looking around for anything she could throw and knock him out of the air with.
Her eyes spotted an old baseball, forgotten in the corner. She dove for the corner, barely missing being blinded by a fork, and grabbed the ball. She aimed the shot, and threw.
The ball hit him square in the face, and he dropped to the ground. Then he was up, now standing and wielding the carving knife. He grabbed her screaming brother as he ran by, stabbing him in the gut.
Zoe screamed, trying to get over to him, but something held her back.
The man then wrenched the knife back out, leaving Conner to collapse on the floor. Zoe’s mother ran over to her son, crying. The man then kicked her in the chin, flipping her over backwards. He dove to the ground on top of her, stabbing repeatedly.
Zoe fought with all her strength, but it was no good. Her father appeared from under the table, holding a shot gun. The man simply waved a hand, however, and the shot gun turned into a long rope that was moving on it’s own. The rope twisted itself around her father, slowly strangling him. He fell to the floor, twitching.
The man then turned his sights on Zoe, and, taking flight once more, swooped over to the corner where she stood. His hand found her throat, squeezing hard and cutting off her air. She pulled at it, trying to save herself. His other hand, the one still holding the knife, went back, ready to stab. She struggled, but found no escape. The hand swung down, right at her face, and –
She sat up with a start, shaking. Somehow, mid day dream, she had fallen back asleep and had a horrific nightmare. It would take a long time for the horrible images to fade from her mind. She shuddered as the image of her father being strangled floated across her mind’s eye once again.
