So, what are your NaNo dares for this year?
Killix's dares:
Dare 1: Reference the current wordcount at random intervals in descriptions, quotes, objects, whatever!
Dare 2: Kill your MC in the middle of the story. XD - Bonus Points: If this doesn't change the plot at all.
Dare 3: Have one of the characters say to the antagonist something simple like "You're doing bad things!" and have the antagonist stop and think about it, and then come to realise the error of their ways, thus ending that plot. - Bonus Points: If it ends the entire story. (lawlfailending)
Dare 4: Start one of the paragraphs/chapters with the line "The sun shines brighter on a town that is not already on fire"
Dare 5: Include Chet Flash references throughout your NaNo.
Dare 6: Your protagonist does a face-heel turn and becomes the main antagonist. - Bonus Points: if your story now has no protagonists left.

Dare number 4 actually sounds like something that would fit in my story... I think I'll save it. =) Oh, and when I think of some dares, I'll add them here.
edit: oh, thought of one. It was one I tried like two years ago.
Dare: have the first letter of the first word of each chapter spell out a secret message. Bonus points: if the message is a key point to the plot.

I came up with some, but I've never joined you guys for NaNo before. Is plagiarism okay?
Dare 12: Interrupt a chapter with an ad for a made up product. - Bonus points: If it's something nobody would want, like a state-of-the-art zit waxer. - Double bonus points: If the brand/company name is Acme.
Dare 13: Have SpongeBob in a major role in an otherwise serious fantasy setting. - Bonus points: If nobody bats an eye. - Double bonus Points: If he is the center of a prophecy.

Allyson-- What do you mean by plagiarism?
I know someone posted this dare last year, but I figured I'd post it first, just to make sure it gets in here. =D
Dare: Work in song lyrics at random parts of your story, so they make sense in context. -- Bonus: If you can fit an entire song in.
Dare: Have a character burst into song in public. -- Bonus: If random characters on the street join in. -- Double bonus: If this happens multiple times with original songs.
Dare: Have one of your characters be Genre Savvy and Lampshade all the Tropes you're using. -- Bonus: If they're actually Wrong Genre Savvy -- Double Bonus: If they suffer Death by Genre Savvy

Well, the SpongeBob dare officially makes your story fan fiction, whether you like it or not. (Not that I mind...some of my best work is fan fiction!) Dare: Do a whole chapter in rhyme. - Bonus points: if you use a consistent rhyming scheme. - Double bonus points: if you make a Dr. Suess reference.

I came up with some moar:
Dare 7: Total destruction of a planet. - Bonus Points: If it is destroyed by a mass of asteroids, and someone comments on "why did nobody shoot those down!?"
Dare 8: Rain is deadly. - Bonus Points: It's not acid. - Triple Bonus: It is referred to as "Eraser Rain"
Dare 9: Include in your plot an evil alien cyborg babe from an alternate future who posesses humans and uses them to inject the population with mind-altering alien drugs that cause weird hallucinations, thus explaining the unexplained things in the world. (like ghosts) - Bonus Points: For a downer ending - Brownie Points: If you understand which show I'm making fun of with this dare, and reference it somewhere. XD

Well, the SpongeBob dare officially makes your story fan fiction, whether you like it or not. (Not that I mind...some of my best work is fan fiction!) If you're asking if it's okay to do fanfiction for NaNo, then yes, that's perfectly fine. XD Um... dares... Dare: Have Missingno (the infamous glitch Pokémon) appear in the story at some point. Bonus: If it's important to the plot. Dare: Include NTWFers in your NaNo. Double: If they're main characters. Obligatory Dare: EPIC EQUIPMENT, PLEASE DO NOT USE
