This seems really fun. It's rather late, but count me in. I actually have a pretty decent memory of what I've read so far this year. Cx I've still got plenty of books I've been wanting to read and I'll probably end up reading plenty more due to school and the like. Anyway, here's my list so far: A: A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens B: C: Count of Monte Cristo, the by Alexander Dumas D: E: Extras by Scott Westerfeld F: G: H: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling I: I Am Legend by Richard Matheson J: K: L: Les Miserables by Victor Hugo M: N: O: P: Prey by Michael Crichton Q: R: S: Specials by Scott Westerfeld T: Timeline by Michael Crichton U: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld V: W: Warriors: Into the Wild by Erin Hunter X: Y: Z:
11/26 My downfall is that I read the entire Harry Potter series, which was already listed as counting only as H. xD;

Vampirates: Blood Captain - Justin SomperThis is the third Vampirate book, and it was actually quite good. In the first two the writing was a little weaker, so it was nice to sense that the author improved, although it's still an easy read and not too in depth. Connor questions being a pirate when he makes his first kill, while in this one Grace is at a Sanctuary hoping to help heal her friend Lorcan, aa Vampire whose been harmed by the sun. There wasn't too much of plot driving this one, but it was a nice read and a good V book. And the ending was a bit of a cliffy and makes me want more.

Darkborn by Alison Sinclair. <3 ...I don't usually post here after finishing books, but I can't help it for this one. It's about a society literally split by light and dark, into a race that can only live in the dark and one that can only live in the light. And the darkborn are blind, seeing their way through the world using essentially echolocation. It's epic. And the story is told entirely from the perspective of darkborn. And the darkborn are tech-lovers and rather victorian/steampunk, whereas the lightborn are more traditionally fantasy, with magic and all. And. Yeah. It's an intrigue-based story, I think, and I really suck at saying things about books without spoiling plot. But. Darkborn = <3

Hopefully, whoever's got it now doesn't hog it too long ^^ I love all the awesome books I'm finding through this thread XD

eugh, keep reading repeats. =P
However, I am proud of myself. I was forced into reading Watchmen, and along with now being an official comic book geek, I knocked off the 'W' title. 8D

I finished Dead Until Dark last night. I'm really not sure what to make of it. I can decide whether I liked it or not. The first half, I was definitely hooked. I was really enjoying it, until about halfway through when... Sookie actually got together with Bill, I wasn't so interested anymore. For starters, i'm not a Bill fan. He's cool and everything, but he's also quite possessive of Sookie. And then there's all the sex. I'm okay with a little action going on every now and then, but really, does it need to be detailed every single time?! That got annoying. So yeah, it was good, but i'm just not sure how good. Next, due to the reviews i've read on this thread, i'll be reading The Quantum Prophecy.

Hey, my sister LOVES those Sookie books! xD ...I've never read one, and I'm not that interested to, either.
I much prefer the Dresden Files for my dark fantasy fix. >=}
...I dunno, I'm starting to think I might not be able to beat this challenge, which absolutely sucks since I was the one who started the whole thing here in the first place. But with so much homework and babysitting, I have almost no time to read. And besides, the book I'm reading now (Myst) is so boring. It has relatively interesting descriptions, but I'm already to chapter four and almost nothing has happened except for a bunch of descriptions. If the story doesn't pick up soon, I might just decide to ditch this book and find another one that starts with M. Once I'm actually interested in the story, though, I should find it easier to read some--even if it means reading during the commercials and in the car.

I finished The Quantum Prophecy last night, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This was completely my type of book. I got through it really quickly, which surprised me since it's quite long, but I enjoyed it a lot. The only things I didn't like too much, were that most of the heroes seemed to just have the same kind of powers. Super-strength and speed are very common in this book. I suppose I only think this because i'm a fan of X-Men, and they've made characters with just about every power imagineable. Also, there are a lot of names mentioned of the previous group of superheroes, but they're never really explained, and that bugged me a little bit. Even just a little sentence about what their powers were would have suited me. But those two points are just small and nit-picky. Overall I really enjoyed it, but agree with Bianca's previous review that it was a very easy read.
Next up, i'm reading Kafka On The Shore, By Haruki Murakami.

0.o I swear, the "K" book is the hardest to find! Does anybody know of any good "K" books off the top of their head? If you don't mind mature content, Kushiel's Dart (by Jacqueline Carey) is good. *is going to reread that soonish* ...and that's the only 'K' book I can think of right now. Odd. It feels like I should be able to remember at least one other. Oh! Kings and Assassins by Lane Robins. Sequel to Maladicte. xD ...I read Maladicte but not Kings and Assassins, due to getting distracted. Dark fantasy with a neat setting and politics. It's fun, though.

I'm 5 chapters into Ender's Game right now. Apparently it is a crime that I haven't read it yet, according to multiple people. So I traded with one of my friends for The Name of the Wind since I think everybody should read it and be amazed by its awesomeness. XD
I like the book so far, and I'm very interested to read more. Although I have to say, I have a hard time believing all the kids in this book are as young as they supposedly are. >.>

((people with IQ in the 99.9th percentile, or something like that.)) Yeah, they can be like that, especially if they're pushed in school and want to learn a lot. Maybe not quite to that extreme, but it'd be quite possible.

Okay >< I had to stop reading Xenocide. Terribly boring. Gah. I know it's an "X" book...but I'm going to find something else.
On a brighter note. I reread Scorpio, by Alex McDonough. It's a sci-fi story about a member of an aquatic alien species accidently using a magical "orb" to transport to mideival France.
...It sounds weird, but the book is awesome. It may be hard to find, though. My library has a copy, but none of the book's sequels, and none of the bookstores around here have anything, either.
I also started reading Hominids, by Robert J. Sawyer. It's another sci-fi book, this one involving a parallel world where Neanderthals became the dominant, intelligent species, rather than our line of humanity. The Neanderthal society is very interesting and very well-thought out, and it's a really good read so far. It does have a scene of very explicit sexual content, though, so watch out.

Under the Jolly Roger - L.A. Meyer
Wow, I really liked this book.
It's actually number three in a series, but I skipped the first two and still managed to understand it.
It takes place in the 1800s, and is about a girl named Jackie Faber who doesn't act like normal girls of that time. She's experienced with ships, and as she goes to see her boy friend, she sees him with a different girl, and then suddenly she is whisked off on a ship. And lots of adventures ensue.
There's not really a real plot, but the story kept me hooked all the way through, and the character of Jackie is really wonderful. I really enjoyed this one, and I'd definitely recommend, especially as a U book.
