Well, this is an idea that's been bouncing around the inside of my head for quite a while. And like most such things, it's gotta come out eventually.
We've got a lot of talented writers and artists participating in GWs. What would people say to a large-scale collab making GWII into a form suitable for publication in the NT? Dredge up as many of the main players as we can, have each person submit a part of the story based on his/her talents, be it short story, series, or comic. Personally, I think it'd be a blast, but would take a lot of organization to see that the story moves forward at roughly the same pace for all of the participants. Would anyone else be even the slightest bit interested?

It could be fun, but crazy difficult to get suitable for the NT. XD; ...NT's pretty strict on their rules these days. I mean, we'd probably have to turn everyone into Neopets. And Spacefleet would turn into Virtupets. And demons would be Darigan pets or something?
Also, I'm not sure some subplots would transfer well. Just thinking about the whole subplot with PFA and Vyt... *scratches head* Could be tricky.
But if people are willing to give it a shot, I definitely think it would be fun.

I think this might be fun, if we can pull it off. We'd just have to be very selective and careful about what we write but that's part of the challenge. In any case I'm all up for this if it gets off the ground.

I'm certainly game, though I echo the others in saying that it will take a lot of organisation. ^^;

I wasn't in GWII so I can't really add anything. But I do agree with the others that it will be a lot of work Mostly with Neopianizing it to fit the rules and such.

If you do this, I must kindly ask you to exclude The Commander from the plot. No way am I allowing him to be transformed into a blatantly genre-blind card-carrying villain like Dr. Sloth. <.< The reason I made my character in the first place was to break away from Sloth and turn him into someone much greater and more powerful than he.
That aside, it would be really interesting to see how much of GWII needs to be "politically corrected" in order to pass through the Neopian Times radar. xD

This wouldn't be so much adaptation distillation as blatant rewriting. TMC for instance was a strongly forum-centric injoke that simply doesn't work in Neo's context (unless he becomes a jerk version of the Down for Maintenance Pteri on a magical bike. Woah. Dang, now I'm torn >> On one hand, I don't really want to do this with the Horsemen, on the other hand it'd be bloody awesome to write.) I guess the aim here would be to do what Disney did to the Hunchback of Notre Dame: take a big, messy, absolutely non-kiddy-friendly original work, strip it down to the very basic plotline, ignore all the padding and confusion and dead ends, rewrite the whole freakin' thing with that basic plotline, get rich. Um, get trophies in our case. Props if we manage to sneak in a musical number that has a good chance of scarring kiddies for life.

A lot of subplots in GWII continue from GWI, and so it really might be tricky to include. At best, we can only allot a cameo for the characters in them whenever they encounter the "main characters" (you know where in adventure shows, they'd be the tag-alongs and stay with the protagonists for a few episodes? Yeah, like that).

Just saying. >>;

Strife could be a particularly smart and ambitious lieutenant of Commander Gormos, for instance. Some of this would be a blast, just for the sake of giggling at the injokes. And honestly, it might be a bit therapeutic to clean up the story, get rid of all the stray bits of fluff and loose plot threads on our exquisite persian roleplay rug. Yes, I stretched that metaphor as far as it could go, thank you very much.

Fun fact: FableQuest was originally going to be a side-scrolling fighting game based on GW1 events, but after I finished Ikkin's sprites, the idea spawned for an RPG. To this date, I still haven't figured out how to include the other NTWFers i've drawn. xD; Agh. As far as Strife being replaced by a sidekick of Commander Gormos, that would be pretty fun, actually. Especially considering how awesome Gormos is.

*raises her hand in excitement*
I'd love to help out! But...I wasn't around when guild wars II was going on so I may be lost in all the plotting...
But I'd love to help out any way that I could. It sounds neat. I've come up with some random ideas to make GWIII into some manga stuff, myself, but I know I'd never get around to actually doing it ^.^'
It'd need a lot of dedication and organisation/adapting to work, but it just MIGHT go through.
