Episode Four
PAGE 10Amnei: --using the vibroblade, climbs the lamp-post and gets the lamp out. See, non-combat characters ain't useless! *brick'd*
Draco: Like any good Jedi, Draco has a bad feeling about... something. But he decides to keep going to Merc HQ. Hopefully he'll see the choppa in time.
Gil continues flying and mapping, but realises his map isn't quite accurate. "Oh well, I'll fix it later." (Not a quotation)
Moonlight: Wilhem comes along with the others, and his player is the first to mention him actually getting into the vehicle.
Going against typical cat behaviour, Liyer volunteers to go in. Going with typical cat behaviour, he thinks Aly's cat is fine. Then the vines go BOOM! And Liyer goes "Ow".
Jason: En route to the Dojo, Jasor realises he might not be able to get out of the woods surrounding the place before the sun sets. So he starts to move faster.
Javerson excuses himself and wonders how to get planetside.
Jina: Jina ponders the name of the Saucy Elephant, asks the barman about elephant curry, and wonders if her drink got spiked.
Shade: While Vyt's busy killing and Amnei's busy getting lamps, Shade is busy pouncing gently on not-birds (read: shapeshifters) and asking who or what they are.
Nova: Nova decides to buy the Manor some time in its battle against the Underdeep, and does so with... FIRE!
Michelle: Watch me condense a super-long post into a few sentences: Aly is skeptical of whether Rikku and Celestial are alright. Aly thinks about the past months. Aly suggests Omni do the stone vines trick again. Aly's cat suggests everyone clear out as soon as possible.
Angie: Hawk asks Scar where the Mercs are going. He wonders if they're going to Tabloid Town, or elsewhere. On one hand, Tabloid Town is quite popular right now, but on the other hand, it's quite popular right now.
Omni: Omni says that the kind of mind-shields she has in mind (soooo tempting to make a pun here) don't require concentration. Then
BOOM, DOOR, GET OUT THE WAY! *brick'd* She takes Aly's suggestion and begins the vine stage of the stone vines trick, though it's harder than it was last time.
Ëthän's Ängëls (UMLAUTS!) finally begin to cooperate... then we're reminded that Ëthän hasn't had his examination yet. But he decides to help Lëönëss anyway, since he's a bored teenager. (I'll stop with the excessive umlauts now.)
Scar: Scar does one last thing before getting into the CHOPPA himself - he heads into Merc HQ to find Scrubby, the janitor who refers to himself in third person, and gives said janitor one final order. This order is to push the Big Red Button (and it's actually capitalised like that in the post). Scar himself gets to the CHOPPA in good time; shortly after takeoff, Merc HQ explodes. The base is gone, but the guild lives on, and they're going to Tabloid Town.
I think Scar's been reading the summary, because in this post
he refers to Mr. Featherstone as "Oscar, Gentleman Adventurer" every single time he chooses to mention the guy's name - just like I have!
Anyway, Oscar, Gentleman Adventurer, first calls Sarinon an angel (well, he's kinda right), then introduces himself as "Oscar Featherstone, Gentleman Adventurer" - yes, even the
character does that! - and then he falls. Like a brick. But he refuses to scream like a little girl, and that counts for something.
Sarinon: Sarinon is amused for all sorts of reasons - Oscar, Gentleman Adventurer has amusing dialogue, he fell right into the net and still hit the ground with enough force to hurt his pride, and then she gets to say, "You owe me lots of moolah and your life". Only afterwards does she finally go to the Assembly Hall... wait, OOC!Sarinon's in on the "Oscar, Gentleman Adventurer" joke too!
Kwoiffei: Shapeshifted!Kwoiffei lies, saying that she doesn't have a name in the sense that
people have names, but people call her Bird. For obvious (and ironic) reasons.
Oncara finally gets to Tabloid Town, riding on Cop-Out, a horse related to Deus Ex Machina. And apparently, this cat has some anger and/or arrogance problems.
Lupehunter: Lupehunter's all, "Is this your Weewoo?" to Celes.
Zylaa: At "Totally Not The Moulin Rouge", Zylaa quotes another line from the Elephant Love Medley (again: the musical was in GW2) before seeing Rider's return (on Shiva), runs into a
drunk messenger from Castle Kestrel and tells him the pirates are fine, and asks Rider why she's here.
--
PAGE 11Rider: Rider's a bit snippity (that word is
cute), but she says that the pirates should get back to the Weewoo ASAP - the Underdeep is expanding. (And Rider sorta missed the other pirates.)
Celestial: The Dragon Mage finally returns to the Manor, clueless as to why THE DARKNESS just let her go. She notices that Aly is suspicious and wonders if it's not a good sign, then decides to help with the Close The Effing Door Effort - with air. The Underdeep does retreat, but only because it now wants to - Omni, quick! Rikku, quick!
Overlord appreciates Lupehunter's kindness. Once Celes returns Overlord tries to contact her with telepathy - but doesn't get an answer, nor can he feel her there.
Jina: The NPC adventurers (who are not possessed) head into an old storage room in a Tabloid Town hospital (I'm assuming a city would have more than one hospital from, you know, living in a city), and open an Underdeep opening. Then they head back out to push people into the Underdeep.
Jina doesn't quite get what's going on, but tries to make mental comparisons and asks which one is more accurate: treasure, or a gigantic squid?
Lupehunter: Lupehunter realises that something's wrong about Overlord and Celes, but decides not to tell the others just yet. (You know, the Rules of Plot say that "telling the others" is far more likely to happen
after something happens where prior knowledge could've saved everyone some trouble, but I digress.) He too contributes to the CTEDE, but with a dagger instead of magic.
PFA: PFA tries to play diplomat, suggesting that Kiddo can, you know,
come along with the group and help them. But she's not too confident this confrontation will end well. Since we're talking a confrontation between a crazy phoenix-lady and an eccentric regenerating stone wall...
Jernath also gets into the CHOPPA (you're probably getting sick of that joke by now), wonders if the Mages might know about it before HQ goes up in BOOM, concurs that Tabloid Town sounds good... and introduces himself as Jernath.
Vyt: Vyt is suspicious about the timing of Bird's appearance and wants a convincing explaination. And the creature is now dying.
Michelle: Asta is also amused by Oscar, Gentleman Adventurer's misfortune of falling and hitting the ground. She then asks him where he's from and where he's planning to go, because she's not gonna let him just run away. Even if she has to be in the Assembly Hall.
Draco: Draco and the three ninja NPCs arrive seconds too late (...how did they not notice the explosion?). A flaming table is fatally dropped on one of the NPCs; Draco and the others agree to go to Tabloid Town, 'cause it's the place to be.
Rikku: Rikku manages the impressive feat of walking out of the Underdeep, leaning against the wall, letting the others try and close the door, and avoiding obvious filler all at the same time.
Huntress: From Nasue's story, Hunty and Bloody Mary conclude that things ain't right, and that there's a time limit if the pirates want to play it safe: forty minutes before it gets dark. And then Hunty decides to ask Nasue if she'd like to come along.
Goosh: In the Heavily Marinated Pachyderm, Goosh heads back into the club proper and hears about there being a problem with the Underdeep. He guesses that an ancient evil has risen and it's up to the NTWFers to "restore relative peace and order to the land".
KAM gives a
very Mary-Sueish introduction before giving Merpo the
wrench spanner (why do I keep using American words?!) along with some suspiciously specific information, and wondering if maybe the mad scientist could help her find someone. Yes, because mentally disturbed scientists are clearly reliable!
Rider: Rider confirms that Goosh the Genre-Savvy is right, so it's time to high-tail it back to the
Weewoo (as opposed to the birds). Back at the port, Rider and Shiva try to spy on Hunty, and do a very poor job of it (unless Hunty's somehow going deaf).
Kwoiffei: Not-Bird once again tries lying through honesty, telling Vyt she was watching the group fight the creature and decided to help on a whim.
Nasue realises that she's somehow been turned into a blue-furred, yellow-eyed talking coati with human-level intelligence (as opposed to the full-on anthro coati she was earlier). After being scared by what she hears, it doesn't take much convincing for her to agree to come along. So, sort-of welcome to the crew, Nasuella Lagan!
Bacon: Clint is also in the helicopter, also introduces himself, and... disagrees with the idea of going to Tabloid Town! His logic is that Tabloid Town is full of civilians, and the Mercs need
fighters.
Moonlight: Another merc in the helicopter. After realising that he won't be able to get his money or books back, Wilhem joins the others in introducing himself.
Liyer is about to examine the others (to make sure they're okay?) when something odd happens and he blacks out. Show of hands - who suspects the Underdeep had something to do with that?
--
PAGE 12Kiddo: Yep. Kiddo's gone completely koo-koo (but not like how a certain comic writer went crazy, thank god). After more crazy ramblings, she decides to follow the other ninjas. I sense potential for... MORE hilarity.
Angie: Hawk joins the crowd in introducing himself. He then responds to Clint, saying that they should find out what the Mercs are dealing with,
then find allies. And that after this situation is over, they can start looking for work. (Wouldn't you need a new HQ first?) Then he asks the others if the flames that came out of the Underdeep entrance were like fire magic.
Squiesh: And I think that's all of the mercs in the chopper. Sytra doesn't even realise she's piloting the blasted thing until it's a bit too late - and they couldn't get a
worse pilot. Apparently this character can't even drive a
scooter golf cart.
Draco: Gil does some more mapping; he's reached Castle Kestrel by now. Then he sees a large dark shape in the sky and begins to fly towards it.
Omni: Taking the dragon's signal, Omni repeats the stone vines trick - to a point. As she relaxes, her aura-sense tells her that there is worry and suspicion in the room, but now would probably not be a good time to discuss it. The Underdeep might eavesdrop on them.
Eventually, Ethan and Siber (and Leoness) get out of the medical bay, and Ethan shows frustration with bureaucracy (I HATE THAT WORD) when he decides to hire a ship to go planetside. One signature later, he's going down to Tabloid Town (presumably) with the help of his implants.
Jina: The not-possessed adventurers begin their plan: Corenu and Halin "scout future targets", while Sandra and Patri go out and injure people, forcing them to run to the hospital - where the Underdeep awaits.
Tokala: After gods-know-how-many pages (don't worry man, I know what school can be like), Blackstone and Athar do some scouting before they
finally head to the Aerodome for the speech/meeting. Now we get some important exposition: Brassport used to be in a world called Brigaia, but it isn't anymore. Neither their King nor their Mayor was in the city when it moved. The major company, Blackstone, is closing down for a week so that the people can have some valuable time to get over it - and they're taking volunteers to find out what in the blazes is going on.
Scar: Scar yells at the pilot a bit before he realises (with some help from gravity) that Sytra doesn't even know how to fly an Osprey. So he desperately begins to give instructions.
Oscar, Gentleman Adventurer is still his usual self: his pants fall down, he uses his whip as a makeshift belt, he introduces himself in a long-winded manner (the
second time in this RP, even) to Asta, and quickly moves to follow Sarinon, who walked off a little earlier.
Amnei: The creature dies and crumbles to dust... except the dust is probably alive as well, as it begins moving in the direction of
the a Tabloid Town Hospital. Amnei wonders if the group should try to stop it, or if they should go ahead and warn the people there.
Kwoiffei: Kovaran is reluctant to let Kiddo follow him, but he agrees. He then uses the power of Kovaran Logic™ to deduce, from Kiddo's strangeness, that the group has to go to... Dunburrow? Oooh
kay.
Jason: Jasor arrives at the Dojo literally just as Kovaran makes this annoucement, and asks PFA, Cital and Kiddo if they know anything about the earthquake. Note that he apparently didn't ask the big lizard. I think it's just as well, since Kov has a talent for not noticing things.
Celestial: So
right after she and Rikku got pulled into the Underdeep, and the mages then shut the entrance as best as they could, Celes announces that she plans on searching for other Underdeep entrances. Overlord flies back to Celes, and... she doesn't recognise the Weewoo. She doesn't know who he is.
... ;_; (No, really, this post makes me want to cry. Just thinking about this makes me wanna... *sob!*)
Shino: Okay, let me make sure I don't need to get my eyes checked. First the RP gets a number of people who haven't been around for a while, then Kiddo joins the RP, and now
Shino is back?!
Are you lousy' kidding me?! I just--holy pinecones!
(I saved that spazzfest specifically for this.)Anyway, Shino is in some town in Dunburrow, having a chat with his pal Sir Leon. They talk about such subjects as sheep, "Lady Katherine" (Kat), and whether Leon's an errand boy - and then Leon
Spider Sense tingles sixth sense picks something up. So what does he sense?
"We're not alone, Shino. I feel a cold hand will soon grip this land and burn it into naught but ashes."Zylaa: When it comes to possible things to fight, Zylaa would happily take an ancient evil over the Underdeep. This says a lot about the Underdeep.
Approaching the White Weewoo, she finds Rider eavesdropping on Hunty and basically tells the Red Rider to tell the others what happened Ay-sap. Then she reports to the Cap'n that the Underdeep is expanding.
Rikku: Oh, as if Celes wanting to find other Underdeep entrances wasn't enough, Rikku says that doing it alone would be a horrible idea and decides to come along. Her thoughts are tied up more than a Gordian Knot, and somehow "a city of iron" and "a city of steam" get into them. But you know what? Internal monologues are irrelevant to the plot! And this episode's over.
End Episode Four.
