((Strife's Place. He probably wouldn't be too happy about us blowing holes in his rooms.))
Gelquie didn't know the Draco shikigami was right behind her until he began laughing. She jumped and turned in shock, dropping the piece of debris she was currently carrying onto the ground and crushing a creature in the process. She clutched her dagger tightly in her hand and began to back off, not paying attention to anything that was behind her and not thinking of creating another illusion.
"You again..." She muttered. "I thought you were losing last time you were in a fight. And yet you come back to try to play again? I don't know what the heck your problem is, but you may wanna rethink your tactics before you die a painful death."
Of course, Gelquie still didn't like the way things were going, and she wondered if the last part of her sentence consisted of pure empty word. With so many creatures, an insane ninja, and the fact that their best fighter was preoccupied, she had a sinking feeling that they were doomed. Then she thought a moment and shook her head; they had a mage who could get rid of the creatures easily, especially if they decided to take the fight into the light. Plus, they had other people who could take the hits for her, like Gil and the other now-named ninja.
Of course, that didn't stop Gelquie from backing away. Draco was way too close to her, and she didn't like to be in the middle of combat. Plus, she didn't want to get blood on her dagger. Gelquie quickened the pace in which she backed away, kicking away any creature in her way and redirecting the orb illusions so that they would fly in front of the creatures nearest her. She wasn't comfortable with how close some of them were getting, and how much they seemed to be surrounding her.

((Spacefleet HQ))
After what seemed like hours of suppression, Spacefleet had finally managed to restore order to Headquarters after the sequence of riots that rocked its foundation. Cries of protest still penetrated the metal walls of the moon base, but at least the violence had stopped for now.
Medical personnel were completely overwhelmed. Thousands of refugees had been seriously wounded by the malfunctioning turrets, and when Chief Medic Leoness was finally transported back to Headquarters, she had no choice but to place priorities on who should be saved. Children and those without the ability to use magic were placed at the highest priority, as they were the least likely to survive without assistance. Spacefleet personel who were injured during the riots were placed at a low priority, though luckily for them, their wounds weren't as life threatening.
Subcommander Haggoth, along with most of the other officers who were part of the rescue mission, had returned from the surface and had spent most of their time and energy trying to deal with the riot. Now that the chaos had subsided, they could focus their attention on finding Commander Fraze and dealing with the massive concentration of Underdeep energy in Tabloid Town.
The repairs on the sattelite network were 100% complete, but despite this, all attempts to contact the Commander had failed. Some were starting to worry that he had been killed on the surface. Others, like Haggoth, refused to believe he would go down so easily and that he was still in Tabloid Town somewhere. The surge of energy in the area was making it difficult to trace individual life signs.
One thing was certain, though - action had to be taken, and Haggoth was the highest-ranked military officer still alive and available to make the decision. The other subcommanders urged him over and over to initiate a nuclear strike against the massive creature heading towards Tabloid Town, but he was reluctant to do so - not only because of the massive collateral damage it would cause to the entire guild continent, but because of the chance that his Commander could still be alive down there.
However, despite his reluctance, he eventually felt pressure coming at him from all sides, and it seemed that the Fleet had unanimously supported nuking the Underdeep personification. With a heavy heart, he caved into the pressure. Protecting the planet was part of the primary directive of Spacefleet, and if one small mass of land had to be sacrificed in order to do it, then it needed to be done.
((Tabloid Town))
From the streets of the Tabloid Town, one could see a massive ball of light suddenly appear in the sky where the moon would normally be at night. The light immediately split itself into dozens of smaller lights that grew larger as they zoomed closer to the surface.
The nuclear missles, each one packed densely with atomic particles, broke through the clouds while leaving massive trails of smoke in their wake. They emitted a horrible whining noise as they homed in on their target - the dark mass of clouds building up in the distance just outside of the city.
The moment Strife sensed the sound and smoke of the missles, his eyes grew wide. He had to get out of here, and fast. Without further delay, he left a trail of silhouettes behind as he teleport-dashed out of the city, trying to head as far away from it as possible before the missles struck. Even with his incredible speed, though, he would not be able to escape it, and neither would anyone else in the guildverse.
A flash of white flooded the sky, and all sound had faded away into nothingness. When the sky cleared up again, a monsterous wave of fire and smoke could be seen racing towards Tabloid Town, along with a mushroom cloud so huge that it could be observed from Headquarters with the naked eye. The massive shockwaves of the explosion vaporized everything they came into contact with - buildings, characters, NPCs, the Underdeep ooze, Strife's floating citadel, the White Weewoo... Everything suddenly and violently deteriorated into its skeletal form before vanishing completely. The shockwaves branched out from Tabloid Town, destroying all of the other guild bases as well.
((The Guildverse - Several Hours Later))
When the smoke had finally settled enough to make vision possible, one would notice that the once beautiful and lively continent of the guilds was now a lifeless wasteland. The soil was black and scorched, and where there were once tall and proud cities, there was now rough terrain.
The only spark of life left among the barren landscape was Dark Sev, who had perched himself at the peak of the highest mountain he could find, scanning the horizon with his hollow eyes.
Then, with a sudden movement, he jerks his head towards the fourth wall as two decisive words slither out of his mouth...
"April Fools."
((Just so we're clear, everything after "One thing was certain, though - action had to be taken" didn't happen. xD))

<<Yet Another Room Where Everyone Is At>>
The shikigami Draco looks around the room for a moment with a puzzled look.
"Did anyone get the feeling that our whole world was obliterated in some sort of wave, vaporizing us into nothingness?" He stares at the others. "No? Just me? Ok..."
He looks down at the arrow sticking through his chest.
"Ow. That hurts."
He reaches around and pulls the arrow out. The hole remaining and not healing up at all.
"Kukuku... Why did you go and do that? I only came to... Now what did I come here? Oh that's right. You might want to know. Pirates are here, and they mean to burn the building down. Kukuku..."
He takes a few steps, following Gelquie around with a smile on his face. When he gets close enough, he turns around and stares at the one who shot him a moment before.
"Oh, was this yours?"
He breaks the arrow and tosses it at Lupehunter's feet.
Toshiro narrows his eyes and throws several kunai at Draco.
Jumping back, Draco dodges them, and wags his finger at the ninja.
"Tsk tsk. Need more training."
He melts into a shadow, picking up one of the thrown kunai as he disappears. Only a moment later, he appears behind Toshiro.
"It's better to sneak up on your target."
He stabs the kunai into Toshiro's side, who clutches his side and falls to his knees. Draco then almost dances away, disappearing in a shadow again. When he reappears it is in front of Lupehunter, face to face.
"Kukuku. He'll live, if you move quickly. Just because he has a name, doesn't mean he won't die. It just means he won't die instantly."
He claps his hands together as he a large smile spreads on his face.
"Of course you also have the option of attacking me or saving one of your own. Kukuhehehe"
The nightmare creatures on the ceiling move once more, right above Gelquie. They begin to drop down on top of her. Her along with the creatures slowly begin to sink into a shadow.
Gil looks around, and runs over to Gelquie. He slashes at the creatures with the blade on his wrist. However the creatures just continue to swarm the mage girl.
"So, what will you do? Kukukukuhehehaahaaaa."

<<Near the Pirates>>
The foot tall Draco shikigami appears out of the shadows, and floats behind the weasel pirate's head, waiting to be noticed.

Zylaa heard something faint behind her; ordinarily she would have dismissed such a sound, unless she was really bored, but being on a floating tower made of fear and doom had made her a bit edgy. She spun around to see a foot-high Draco floating in midair.
"Now this is unsettling," she said to the crew at large. She raised her sword carefully. She didn't know if it was a simulation or a projection of the real Draco, but she didn't trust either of them. "Now what exactly are you here for?" she addressed the floaty thing.

The chibi Draco smiles and waves at Zylaa.
"Just here to inform you that the others in the building are ok for the time being. They locked themselves in a room to avoid the nightmare creatures. They are now tearing the room apart for reasons unknown to me. Oh, and one is shooting at someone outside.
He floats around, doing the backstroke in midair.
"Sooo, before you decide to burn the place down. I would make sure they are safe. I warned them of what is going on, but I think they were to busy to pay attention..."

Strife's Manor Lupehunter wasn't too concerned when Draco removed the arrow. The effect would still work its magic. He may have lost the advantage when Draco suddenly disappears after stabbing the ninja only to reappear in front of Lupehunter, face to face, but Lupehunter still had the upper hand.
"Kukuku. He'll live, if you move quickly. Just because he has a name, doesn't mean he won't die. It just means he won't die instantly. Of course you also have the option of attacking me or saving one of your own. Kukuhehehe"
At that point, Lupehunter gave a wolf like smile, chuckling to himself as he silently placed a shield spell around his fellow mage. He could already smell the smoke slowly drift out of the arrow hole.
"Remember that arrow that I fired at you, Draco? There was more to it than meets the eye. It won't take that long for you to figure out what it was as you were already dead when I fired it. Of course, you'll probably be crippled in pain by it."
He then swung his staff towards Draco's head, stunning him momentarily. He then used a teleportation spell to quickly get to Toshiro and began to heal him.

Strife Tower "Now this is unsettling."
Jina turned around to see a floating Draco. Unsettling indeed.
"Just here to inform you that the others in the building are ok for the time being. They locked themselves in a room to avoid the nightmare creatures. They are now tearing the room apart for reasons unknown to me. Oh, and one is shooting at someone outside. Sooo, before you decide to burn the place down. I would make sure they are safe. I warned them of what is going on, but I think they were to busy to pay attention..."
"Erm. Hang on, how did you avoid these nightmare creature things? Can't you just kill them and help the other people? ...Oh, and why are you floating? Seriously, you aren't making me want to trust you."
Also Strife Tower The beautiful woman - who's name Owen would really have to find out - said maybe. Not great, but something that could be worked on, so Owen was happy with the result.
He was about to attempt cranking his charm up to eleven, when someone else who's name he would have to figure out spoke to him. "Where did you come from?"
"I'm sorry, how is that any of your-"
Some blue thing said her name - Hunty, apparently. "Either way, we should probably go find everyone else in this place. Flying up here should count for something, after all - what?"
Well she could have at least let me fin-
A ship was flying towards them. Owen was used to flying ships, but he wasn't used to flying ships that look like sailing ships. And he definitely wasn't used to flying ships that look like sailing ships, only with nobody aboard. He grinned. Or rather, grinned wider. "I think I'm starting to like this place. Alright then, let's all get on and start blowing things up." He turned to the group at large, and then saw Draco.
Alright guys, you don't need to make everything float. Ships are fine, but this is going too far.
"Erm. Hang on, how did you avoid these nightmare creature things? Can't you just kill them and help the other people? ...Oh, and why are you floating? Seriously, you aren't making me want to trust you."
"We don't have time to figure out if we can trust him. Mr. Floaty-guy, please go and tell the people up there that we're here and we have this ship, so that we can just hurry up and burn this thing."
The Air As soon as Strife picked up the rocks, Halin placed one hand on Sandra's head, and held the other in the air. Then, he focused solely on his psychic vision. He put the hand that was in the air into a series of different positions, signalling a course of action to Corenu and Patri. Destroy rocks, hold enemy. He kept his other hand firmly in the middle of Sandra's head, telling her not to change course.
Patri fired a blast at each of the rocks, but this did little damage to them. So instead, she waited until the rocks were either side of them, then fired a ball of magic directly into the middle of one of the rocks. The ball absorbed some of the rock, then exploded, shattering the rock into many pieces. Corenu had already raised a shield by the time the blast got near them, so they were unaffected.
However, Patri did not have time to fire a ball at the other rock before it swung sideways, crumpling Sandra's wing, and knocking them off course. Corenu started work on healing the wing straight away, and finished in time for Sandra to pull up and aim at Strife with a less steep dive.
Patri then summoned a ring of solid magic around Strife, too small for him to move his arms around, in an attempt to stop him from moving out of the way of the dive.

Beyond the Fourth Wall, and possibly in another dimension
Sometimes, in the race against adversity, a being might suddenly enter a state of questioning. What are they doing? Is there a reward for it? They don't have to suffer; they don't have to do this; they don't have to do anything. They want to stop. They don't want to fight any longer.
It is not advised to enter this state when beyond the Fourth Wall. But that is exactly what happened to the blue-furred coati.
And so she wound up separated from the Author, and was now sitting on what seemed to be a beach... a beach where a nebula could be seen in the sky, and the sea, pitch black, had stars glowing within. Small glowing lights rose out of the water, leaving small trails behind them as they gently floated into the sky. She could hear gentle music, played by an invisible piano, and see astronomically large creatures swimming through the air.
The music clipped.
Up until then, Nasue had been in a daze. Even if this was a world outside of fiction, or... whatever the hell it was, despite being so surreal, she could believe it. She could have believed the feeling of sand beneath her feet, and the unearthly cries of the strange creatures, and even the sea of stars. But background music clipping? That just ruined the mood.
Blinking, and freshly out of that daze, she looked around. Part of the beach had now become a tiled platform, with a table, two chairs and an umbrella which looked suspiciously like a specimen of Ganoderma lucidum. One of the chair was unoccupied. The other--
Nasue blinked. What?
No. It wasn't possible.
But there was another blue-furred coati sitting right there, drinking a mug of tea. And as she quickly approached, she found that this stranger was wearing the exact same outfit, had the exact same markings... and when the stranger introduced herself, the exact same voice.
And the exact same name.
*
"So, wait," Nasue said, now seated and holding a steaming mug of tea in her hands, "you're from another dimension?"
"Yeah, pretty much." The other Nasue, who we shall call Lagan for the sake of convenience, had finished her own tea and was now leaning back into her chair, resting her hands behind her head. She looked out at the view of the otherworldly shoreline.
"Guess you're wondering how that's possible, yeah? Well, the Fourth Wall--you came here that way, yes?" Nasue blinked, then nodded. "It came from theatre; the basic concept was that it's an invisible wall between the play and the audience. Now and then, a character would speak directly to the audience. And it's a very old concept--some say it's one of the oldest ones in existence.
"So apparently one day, someone began to play around with that concept. And from that, we somehow ended up with--" Lagan gestured to indicate their surroundings, "--this. A world between the Fourth Wall and the audience."
"Huh," Nasue mumbled, glancing around. Some sort of space dragon was casually sailing over them, casting a massive shadow on the ground.
For a few more moments, the two were silent. Then Lagan leaned forward, coughing quietly to get the other coati's attention.
"You can't have come here for no reason. And I know you didn't come alone - you had someone with you."
Nasue spluttered. "I-it's just--she--she said she knew a safer place--and it was dangerous--that blackness, the dragon, that guy--"
Lagan's eyes went wide.
"A-and I need to get off--get outta that world--it's not safe anymore--"
Lagan hissed, "Nasue! Listen to me!"
Nasue went quiet, looking at the other coati.
"You need to go back. Yes, I know, it's dangerous. But listen - I've been through what you have - losing everything I had, the Legion - and I can tell you, right now, that you need to stay on that world."
"W-what?"
"I know. It sounds insane. But trust me here..." Lagan sighed, and drew back her sleeve. Nasue gasped.
That mark--!
"Yes. There is no escaping from the Legion. They find everyone who escapes. Every single one."
*
The two coatis now stood before a tear in the reality of the world beyond the Fourth Wall. Through it, Nasue could see a clear sky above a sea of complete blackness -- Tabloid Town. That was where she needed to go.
"Nasue," Lagan spoke. "Have faith. And... clichéd as this sounds, don't give in to that fear. Don't ever become like me."
With that, the other blue-furred one turned and walked away from her, leaving Nasue alone.
Nasue hesitated.
And then she jumped through the tear.
TABLOID TOWN (The Very Definitely Final Dungeon?) - Nasuella Lagan
There was a hissing noise from where she touched the ground. The yellow glow had flared up the moment she emerged on the other side of the tear; as the coati landed, she saw that blackness all around her. Her bare feet and hands could feel cold, lifeless stone.
Pushing herself to her feet, Nasue looked around. Blackness... blackness... a dark spot in the sky? No. Multiple dark spots. She looked around - there was no safe place.
Don't run, she said.
...she? Who's "she"? I--was I talking to someone?
Where was I?
Weird. For some reason she couldn't remember what had happened. She'd been pulled out of Tabloid Town... then there was some jumbled mess... and then she returned to it.
Taking a breath, she started to walk towards that dark spot.
((Graaaaaaagh I spent pretty much all day on this one post and I intended to do MORE. I think I'll have Kov's return in a different post.))

((Streets of Tabloid Town))
Strife caught glimpse of another crossbow bolt soaring towards his direction. He quickly and effortlessly sidestepped out of the way, and the bolt lodged itself into the broken pavement. While the bolts did not pose any threat to him, they were still a bit of an annoyance.
Turning about, he focused his attention back on the bird who was engaging him. For a moment, he couldn't believe that the creature was able to destroy one of the large stones that he had summoned to crush her. After the second stone knocked into her wing, though, he could clearly see that there was a small group of people riding on top of the bird.
One of the bird's riders summoned a ring of energy that surrounded Strife on all sides, while the bird itself took another dive towards him. Strife tried to teleport-dash through the ring, but it blocked his movement and caused him to bounce around like a pinball for a brief second.
The bird was soaring closer. Strife looked upwards, noticing that the ring of energy did not have a ceiling, and decided to escape from it by engaging his jet boots and rocketing into the sky. Then, just as the bird was about to reach the ring, he curved his flight path so that his body was facing straight down. He extended his hand towards the ground as he flew in a loose circle around the bird, and through his psionic energy, a large number of tall, extremely sharp rock spikes punched themselves out of the ground. He hoped to impale his foe with one of them before she had a chance to fly back up to a safe height.

Tabloid Town Streets So apparently, the enemy had jetboots. That was okay, technology could be destroyed. However, before that could happen, Halin saw the spikes starting to rise out of the ground. He indicated to Sandra to pull up early, but she still had to push off the spikes coming out of the ground with her talons, causing them to become slightly damaged.
Once Sandra had pulled up, Halin signalled to Patri again, telling her to destroy the jetboots. She looked up at Strife, and first fired a few blasts of magic around him in an attempt to distract him from trying to fix his boots. Then, before the blasts reached him, she created solid magic which covered the outlet of the jetboot, attemtping to make them backfire.

<<Pirates Spot>>
The mini Draco floats around upside down for a few moments. He listens to how he is not trusted, and even given a order.
"I am simply a messenger for Draco. And in case you think I am dangerous, I am harmless."
He takes out his katana, and begins to poke Zylaa with it.
"I think it's made of rubber... So I can just annoy... Anyways, I'm off to deliver the message."
With a small puff a smoke he disappears, and a small piece of paper with marks falls lightly to the ground.

<<Alone in a room>>
"What's taking them... I'm getting bored here."
He turns his head and smiles, instantly knowing what the mini shikigami knew. He walks over to a window and stares out of it, taking out another piece of paper. In moments another mini Draco is formed.
"Go see how our friend Strife is doing."
The chibi Draco nods his head and flies into a shadow.

<<Tabloid Town - Ground Level>>
The messenger Draco emerges out of the ground and looks around. It doesn't take him long to find his target. He flies around, avoiding anything that can harm him, and floats behind Strife.
"So, how are you doing boss? Having a hard time with things? And what is that smell?"
---
<<Strife Manor - Battle Room II>>
The Draco clone steps back and holds his head from the attack. Laughing the Draco clone watches Lupehunter trying to save Toshiro and Gil trying to fight off nightmare creatures from swarming on Gelquie.
"It was just a arrow. It's not going to do anything to me!"
The hole the arrow was in begins to smolder, and a flame lights up around the hole.
"I smell smoke, kukuku. The pirates must all ready be starting their attack."
Holding his hand out in the direction of Gelquie, more nightmare creatures swarm her. They continue to drag her into the shadow portal.
<<Back in the lonely room>>
Draco stands around once again. He looks up and notices some feet sticking out of the ceiling.
"Well, at least something is coming through the portal."
He begins to throw small objects at the feet.

Fire. That was all that he could see. Yet he could hear many things - battlecries, screams of anger and fear and pain, voices cursing the name of the ones who had oppressed them for so long. He could feel the flames burning him, and steel cutting into his flesh, and blood from his enemies splashing onto him. He could smell the smoke... and that was all he could smell. None of the familiar incenses and perfumes that had once wafted through the halls of this place. They were gone, turned into flames and smoke like so many other things. They deserved this. The ones in power had become corrupt, and once-benign rulers had turned into tyrants. The ones who had served them had become slaves, and though sickened by their oppression, they had little power to do anything about this... until he came. He had given them hope. He had given them a chance to break those invisible bonds, and overthrow the ones who had ruled them. Then everything suddenly vanished, replaced only by a void. Kovaran screamed as he fell into the blackness. Drakhé screamed as he fell into the blackness. -- Wherever Drakhé isA stone statue exploded. Well, that wouldn't exactly have been the right word for it. Rather, it was as though there was a black stone shell surrounding whoever was inside, and it had suddenly shattered and been blown off as though there had been an explosion. The end result was the same, though: a short, thin, black-scaled humanoid dragon let out a scream as he broke free of this prison. Dozens of black tentacles (seemingly) exploded from his back and extended to the air, as he threw his head back and screamed once more. Then the tentacles retreated, vanishing into his back. Curiously, his shirt remained intact. D-Man fell to his knees, hands hitting the ground to stop him from falling any further. No-one was around to see him at that moment, but if they had been watching, they would have seen something in his eyes that had not been there before. Pupils. Then those eyes returned to a solid white colour. He didn't have time to contemplate what had happened, as the sound of a horse whinnying got his attention. D-Man turned around to find a worried-looking Cop-Out. "...I did something I shouldn't have done, right?"Cop-Out grunted. "You think?! That ooze... you should've run from it! Should've called for me, or somethin'!" "I know," the dragon replied, his voice sounding somewhat like a whimper. "I just--I suppose I just didn't think of that."The horse sighed. "Anyways, mister, we should get moving. Tabloid Town--hey, where are you going!? Don't run away! Yes, it's been evacuated, but--I said don't run away! You'll just be petrified again! Look, you have a good reason to be in Tabloid Town. Not just because it's the place to be... there's people there who'll have answers." "...answers?""Yeah. You've got amnesia, right? Don't know who you are, where you came from, what happened to you in the past... look, Dragon Man. If nothing else, we'll find someone who can tell you your name." D-Man was quiet. Then he frowned. -- Somewhere in the world, a bunch of people cursed the phenomenon known as The Sort-of-a-Cliffhanger. -- TABLOID TOWN, or rather, Strife's Would-Have-Been-A-Palace-Except-He-Probably-Won't-Live-To-Renovate-It - Kovaran MokraHow had this occurred? He had chosen to travel with the mage Ikkin, the phoenix Sev and the metal-haired being... but moments after they had arrived in a hall of lifeless stone, Kovaran had found himself in a place with no light. And from there, the dark images and sounds had formed. A family descended from dragons who had lost all honour, and only aimed to become more superior than the others in this family. The oppressed poor people suffering under the family of corruption. An egg taken to a far land to be raised in seclusion. A boy ripped from his home and pulled into a world where he would surely drown... Then, rescued by the peasantry. And then rebellion, revolution, and the death of every Mokra-kar save one. With suddenness, the Screaming Dragon hit the floor, cracking it with the impact of his weight (and the weight of Zankantou). It took some moments, but he lifted his head. He had returned to the stone halls, but now he was alone, save for the vanishing silhouette of a riding-tiger. Yet soon sounds sounded from elsewhere, and Kovaran pushed himself with his hands onto his feet. After steadying his balance, he slammed his foot into the floor, cracking it further. SLAM! CRACK. SLAM! CRA-AAACK!SLAM! KRA-KOOOM![/b][/size] The crackers gave way to a deep crater, and then into a hole in the floor. Grinning with teeth for one moment, Kovaran turned and ran towards the sounds of battle.

Post by Gelquie on Apr 10, 2010 1:09:42 GMT -5
It seemed to be only pure seconds between the time she was getting as far away from Draco as possible and the time she was struggling to get free of the creatures while being in what seemed to be a floating state. She couldn't see out of the hordes of spiders surrounding her, keeping her from trying to drag herself out of the portal beneath her, and she was just barely able to hear the words of everyone else from the chittering of the creatures.
Great. Just absolutely perfect. Gelquie knew that she had only done limited things, but she had really hoped that she wouldn't become the damsel in distress in this fight. But here she was; being pinned by spiders and an insane ninja when probably no one was going to help her.
That last thought of Gelquie's was slightly averted when she felt the power of what seemed to be a shield surround her. It made her feel better that there were some attempts to save her, but she wasn't entirely sure how hearted it was. After all, she couldn't see over the creatures. As the fight went on, Gelquie cursed her luck as hopelessness filled her; death was going to come, and so was what comes after death. She knew it was her fault; she had let herself come to this. Maybe she just wasn't good enough. Maybe she was just being too selfish...
"Oh heck no," she thought to herself. "Screw this; I am not going to be the victim!"
At that, the colored balls that Gelquie summoned to pursue the eyes of the creatures disappeared, and instead, she summed another illusion around her. The illusion of... more creatures. The same creatures, but with horns redder teeth, and looked this way to everyone. Gelquie brought these creatures as close to herself and had them snarl at the real creature. Gelquie let out a smirk; if her plan worked, the illusion creatures would keep the real creatures from entering the very front, giving her enough time to maybe get out.
As she did this, Gelquie felt a tapping on her foot, even though she knew that part of her body wasn't even in the same room anymore. That confirmed that she was going through a portal, at least, and she probably wasn't going to meet anyone friendly on the other side. She wished she could do another illusion now, but she really couldn't do much for something she couldn't see. Instead, she focused on part of her mind and kept another illusion ready in case she couldn't find a way to lift herself out of the portal before falling in.

((Streets of Tabloid Town))
As Strife watched the bird struggle with the rising spikes, he suddenly feels the presence of another being behind him.
"So, how are you doing boss?" inquired the somewhat familiar voice of Draco. "Having a hard time with things? And what is that smell?"
Strife turned around and glared at the doll-sized duplicate of the man. He then realized the error of taking his focus off the group of characters he was fighting, and turned back towards the fray... only to be greeted by a flurry of magic projectiles. One of them sank into his jet boots, covering them in a bright blue glow. He felt his boots growing hotter by the second while vibrating intensely, and before long, they bursted in a cloud of sparks.
Strife plummeted to the ground, slamming hard into the broken pavement of the streets. The boots were still intact, but they were scorched badly, and the propulsion systems were fried. He wouldn't be able to use them anymore.
He gnashed his teeth in frustration as he rose to his feet, furious at the distraction. He resolved not to let himself lose focus again. Besides, if he couldn't fly, he still had control of someone who could...
((Floating Hall of Strife))
Dark Sev's eye sockets suddenly curled open. His wounds had been fully repaired by this point, and with a few quick flaps of his wings, he lifted himself into the air. He felt his master calling to him.
A swirl of dark energy engulfed the bird, and he teleported himself out of the floating building. A small portal appeared at ground level, and he shot himself out of it like a dart.
Dark Sev noticed his brother Sev in the far distance, but deemed it safe to ignore him for the time being, as the phoenix was putting his focus completely into reviving Ikkin. Flying past Sev, Dark Sev approached a cluster of sharp spikes in a nearby section of the city, where he could detect the aura of his master.
Strife could feel his pet getting closer, and lifted his head towards to sky. He saw that Dark Sev was approaching Sandra from behind. The air around the Underdeep phoenix grew darker as he charged up energy, and then with a quick and sudden burst of speed, Dark Sev took a dive at his foe from behind while the flames around his body expanded, giving him the appearance of a large fireball.
At the same time, Strife teleport-dashed closer to the conflict and stretched out his hand. The rock spikes began to peel off into smaller, sharper needles of stone, which he willed into shooting upwards. If the needles didn't hit Sandra and her party, they should at least serve as a comfortable distraction against Dark Sev's fireball dive.

<<On the ground, bothering Strife>>
The mini messenger clone of Draco floats after Strife as fast as he could.
"That looks like it will hurt. And here I was worried that I would have to," he turns his head and stares at Strife, "WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO YOU?! You're a zombie!"
He begins to float around him, poking him with his sword.
