SKY BATTLE
Zylaa was not even about to try to parry the Spaceman's blow. Instead, she bounded backwards and dodged with the grace of a weasel. Her screaming "flight!!" instinct wouldn't help here, as flight would involve... well, a very short flight directly down. Shaking herself, she focused on the battle. Been in plenty of fights. None with a posessed spaceman. But plenty of fights.
As Rider made a very loud and very obvious attack, Zylaa rolled to her left, bounded up and swung at Strife's side, aiming for what looked like a joint in the armor. She stayed to the side, hoping that Hunty and whatever other pirate feels like retconning themselves into the drivers' seat would have a clear shot from the back.

SKY BATTLE
Rider whooped and hollered while trying to hit Strife with a forward stab. He blocked it with his own weapon, and the faint sound of clashing metal could be heard beneath the roaring of the wind inside the spacecraft.
Meanwhile, his other opponent aimed for his side. He looked over and quickly raised his leg in a kicking motion, and the blade made contact with the armor on his knee, which was far too thick for it to penetrate. ((Zylaa, it's up to you whether or not the kick hits you, causes you to lose grip of your sword, or neither.))
Strife then jolted his head back in the direction of Rider. His best chance at dealing with these foes was to incapacitate them. From there, he would either kill them en masse or take them hostage, depending on how reasonable they were.
"Surrender," he snapped. He then bent downwards and dashed forward, aiming to slam Rider into one of the corners with his shoulder pad and pin her there while he focused his attention on the other pirate.

((Skies above Tabloid Town))
Yeah. In retrospect this may have been a bit of a bad idea.
But then again, Hunty thought grimly as she ducked under the control panel moments before spaceproof glass shattered into the ship, it didn't look like anyone else was doing anything about this matter either. If you want something done, you gotta do it yourself.
"Attention, hostile intruder detected," the ship hummed with its irritating calmness. "Leave immediately or you will be shot."
The captain, who'd been reaching to grab the crossbow, paused to stare in disbelief at the general source of voice. Was that how warships worked these days?
Bloody Mary, who'd apparently gotten the same question but also thought faster in those situations, stretched his neck out.
"Activate battle code red!" he barked, and then dove right under the pilot's seat. Hunty heard him mutter, "And these guns better have lead bullets, I do not want to see what things will look like in here after ricochet."
Ricochet was in fact a good point, so Hunty let the crossbow be and instead pulled the sword, getting to her feet at the same time. It went 'twang' when it hit against the side of the control panel. She gripped the hilt, narrowing her eyes and gritting her teeth, but the sword wouldn't work.
Fear. The Sue-sword would only blaze up when you were convinced that it would work, against all odds and logic. If it didn't work-
And at that point, Strife attacked her crew.
She wasn't sure what happened next. It was like a dream. Actual thinking was shoved rudely to the backseat. She was vaguely, absently aware of the ship's metallic voice that buzzed "Code red activated. Initiating countermeasures." In some other faraway world, the same guns that'd pointed at Zylaa in the moonbase now emerged from the ceiling and spat a row of bullets at Strife. And then she was already charging at the foe's back, fueled by nothing but sheer rage, seeing nothing but her target and brandishing a sword that she didn't even know was blazing white again.

Kiddo stood and watched the battle up above, unable to discern much more than that was some helluva advanced craft and it appeared to have a windshield shattered and was flying aimlessly in a more or less straight line.
"Did..?" She looked around at the bloodstain. "Did I fall OUT of THAT!?"
She spun in circle, let out o huff of frustration. Bits and pieces were starting to make sense. This was her old home all right, cept it hadn't been fossilized when she'd left it. Or had spaceships. That was new. And the floating tower?
Kiddo skirted through the debris as only ninjas can, moving from shadow to shadow, perch to perch, trying not to think about how bad the destruction was. At least there was enough tall buildings left for her to finally get to a rooftop and get a clear view of the tower. It was way too far to get to unless she had wings.... and her last cognizant memory was shattering her spear shaft and using the blade to cut them off. Part of her wanted to retreat to the dojo, but her gut told her that would be a very very bad idea right now.
So what? Just sit and watch?
Apparently so. And so the rogue ninja sat and stared at the skies above her.

[glow=red,2,300]EVEN MORE SKY BATTLE[/glow]
"Surrender"
If this were the movies, Rider would have been able to squeeze out a bold and dashing "NEVER!" before or after getting pinned to a wall. Instead, she had to focus on her ribs, which were healing very nicely after her last encounter with Celestial. All that work and healing-balm for nothing.
Rider thrashed around. Man this guy was huge. Weren't undead supposed to be scrawny and fragile? At least, that's the kind that Rikku made.
OK Rider, calm down. Focus. if he's focused on keeping you pinned to the wall, then he's not focusing on Zylaa. There's a knife in your boot. It's so close. All you need to do it reach down and - Crap. Can't reach. OK, stretch your fingertips. Can you pull your leg up any higher? Oh God, this is an awkward position. Why does this guy have to be like a wall?
Bullets flew. Oh, that's why.
Strife was evidently as surprised as she was, because Rider felt his grip on her loosen enough to allow her the extra inch to get her knife. She thrust it towards a weak point under the arms in Strife's armor.

((Battle Over The Skies of Tabloid Town))
Strife felt a satisfying crunch as he slammed Rider into the corner of the ship, putting pressure on her ribs. At that point, he heard the ship's defense systems activate.
Turning his head around, he saw a pair of turrets descend from a compartment in the ceiling. They fired bullets at him immediately. Some of the bullets bounced against his chest plate, while others sunk into his flesh, causing tiny streams of blood to trickle down the surface of his armor.
Before Rider's dagger made contact with him, Strife dashed towards Huntress, who was already charging at him furiously. He swung his massive sword high over his head, cutting through part of the ceiling and dislodging one of the turrets in the process. His blade landed with an enormous tremble on top of Hunty's glowing white sword. There was a brief spark of light as the two distinctly different blades collided with each other.
"I am the incarnation of your worst nightmares," he said while pushing his sword down on Hunty's. The dazzling white glow of her blade illuminated his mangled, psychotic face. "Look at what I am doing to your crew. In less than a minute, I have brought your single greatest fear to life, right in front of your eyes. Imagine what I can do in the next few minutes."
The remaining turret above Strife locked onto him shorty after, firing bullets down at him. Like before, some of them bounced off his armor, while others melted into his twisted flesh. As he was being controlled almost exclusively by outside forces, the damage to his body wasn't affecting his ability to fight. Nevertheless, the bullets were a nuisance.
Strife broke away from Hunty and jumped high enough to reach the remaining turret with his hand. He forcefully pulled it out of the ceiling, causing a pile of circuits and wires to slam onto the floor between himself and Hunty.
"Surrender!" he shouted while sprinning around in a full 360 degrees, tossing the broken turret at Rider when he faced her, and swinging his sword horizontally at Hunty just before he completed the spin.

<<Mage Manor>>
Draco stares at the people around them slowly succumb to their fears. Being immune, he was unsure just how strong the fears were. However, he decided to still play with his act.
"Gil!" He runs over to Gil. "We need to get out of here, this is a Underdeep attack brought by one of it's possessed victims! It should be safe in the ships. Let's get people into that ship, and we can get out of here in your Phantom Merc."
Gil holds his head. He wasn't really sure what was going on. He looks down to see Leena crouched on the ground, shaking, and his Ninja companion not moving at all. Him on the other hand, see's a sky full of exploding vehicles, fire seems to fill the sky, and blue beams of light seems to be targeting ship one at a time. He's staring at this horror when Draco runs up to him, snapping him out of it for a few moments.
"But... What about the beams?"
Draco shakes him a little.
"It's not real! It's the Underdeep's power. Come on, it's safest there right now! The effects should ware off shortly after you seal yourselves in the ships!"
Gil nods his head weakly, and stumbles over to the Phantom Merc. The NNPC bends down and lifts Leena up, and places her on the lift to the Nameless Ship, then joins Gil.
Draco calls out to everyone who could hear, and hopefully snap out of their own fears for a few moments of reason.
"Everyone! Get to one of the ships! It should be safer once you get in, and please watch out for the giant neon green bunny trying to smash us with a large tuna fish!"
"What? What? I had to come up with something to make them think I see a fear. But that's not my fear, you are! Well I couldn't say that, now could I?"
Draco gets into the Phantom Merc and sits down. Gil is breathing heavily trying to think straight.
The lift that Leena is on brings her back into the ship, and a few moments later the ship brings down the lift again for others to board.

-[Floating Tower of Strife-damaged corridor]-
Liyer watched the ensuing fight in the skies in front of the floating tower via a gaping hole in the hallway. It didn't seem to be going well for the people in the ship, and with a realization that he had underestimated that Strife person. But, he couldn't do much to help them. So he was stuck here. Flying would be out of the question about now...
Instead he sat amongst the rubble and silently willed that the phoenix and his leader might come across some bad luck.
[Tabloid Town streets ruins]
The whole city was all the same color. Black. Of course, Rivanth had already come to terms with that obvious fact by now. The taller buildings cast thick shadows across the streets that made it hard to see at times, but the deep purple of his shield offered protection from the mist and a little light as well.
He paused near a high building and noticed someone sitting atop the roof. She, for it seemed to be a girl, didn't appear to have any means of protection from the air, yet it wasn't affecting her. rivanth took his attention off the chaos in the sky and approached the building to get a better view of the person.
"Hm..."

Spacefleet, etc.
In a matter of minutes, Speck and Cyborg arrived in a hangar of battleships. They turned around the corner of a large, clunky-looking ship and saw Nadine. As soon as she saw the two of them, she waved them down.
Speck jogged up to the ever-smiling Nadine, "They're aboard?"
Nadine nodded, "You can't open 'em until we're in the air, though."
Speck followed Nadine onto the medium-sized ship. There were maybe a dozen other people aboard, all of whom wore Spacefleet uniforms from varying departments. They all had light armor on, and were armed to the teeth.
Speck shook her head, turning to Nadine, who was already strapping herself into the pilot's seat, "I thought it would be just us."
"So did I," Nadine nodded in Cyborg's direction, "'Sides, are you crazy? We don't know what's waiting for us down there."
Nadine pointed to one of the empty seats on the ship, "Your presents await."
Speck strapped into the seat and pulled the present underneath it. It was a bundle of long, bulky objects, wrapped in what looked like a tarp. She held the bundle on her lap and filled the empty spot under her seat with the silver case.
"All aboard who's going ashore!" Nadine called back to the group. As soon as everyone was accounted for, she pulled out of the hangar and into open space. They waited in the void for a few seconds before blinking down just outside of the NTWF's atmosphere. In a manner of minutes, they were descending through the atmosphere towards Tabloid Town.

(Mage Manor) Midknight and Rose return once again to shadow form, and sneak onto the Phantom Merc. They return to normal near Draco. " Excuse me sir, hi I'm Rose. Is anyone injured? I can help." Rose asked Draco.
" I don't know how I can help other than to tell you, shadow magic seems to be immune to the ooze. I think light magic might be aswell. I might be able to combat any controlled by the ooze." Midknight stated.
---------------
( Spacefleet->ship)
When Nadine nodded to him Cyborg stated. " I didn't know I was coming until a few minutes ago. But aparently there's a crisis, and as a member of the Spacefleet it is my obligation to help as best as I can." He entered the ship, sat down near Speck and stated. " OFF WITH HER HEAD! Here goes nothing."

<<Mage Manor - In Phantom Merc>>
Draco is a little shocked by the two people who suddenly joined him inside the ship. He stares at Rose and at Midnight, taking in what they both said.
"I think I should kill them. No, no... Maybe the one with shadow magic? That sounds good I'll jus... Wait? What did you say? I.. They traveled through shadows... That's what I do! You have some issues man... I'm weak..."
"No one is really hurt anymore. However now we have another problem, the tornadoes laced with Underdeep. It's infecting anyone who happens to be caught in the wind. We're planning on getting as many of them out of here as possible. With your powers, we can move people to the two ships, most importantly the other one since it's larger, with ease. Or we can sit here and wait for them to come themselves."
He stares out the window for a few moments.
"As for controlled people...."
He slowly reaches for his sword.
"Killing does sound like a good idea. I didn't really mean it... Not totally! I have dark humor..."

Mage Manor
Lupehunter slowly backed away as a black bear came into his view. He had been terrified of them, ever since he heard from one of his wolf friends that his parents had been mauled to death by one.
"No, please, leave me alone," he quietly said as he was backing away.
"Everyone! Get to one of the ships! It should be safer once you get in, and please watch out for the giant neon green bunny trying to smash us with a large tuna fish!" a voice suddenly cried out. Lupehunter recognized the voice as the ninja known as Draco, but that was enough for Lupehunter to realize that it was an illusion caused by the Underdeep.
Even though it was momentarily, he knew it would be back, so Lupehunter decided to heed Draco's advice for now and scrambled onto the Phantom Merc.

( Phantom Merc) " I think it may be better for me to save my magic as much as possible." Midknight stated. He saw Draco reach for his sword. He immediately reached for his own. Rose reached for her bo staff. " We come in peace, keep you weapon away lest we be in the presence of enemies. If you attempt to use force on us, we will be forced to fight back." Rose stated.

His hand passes his sword and takes out a small pouch of ninja supplements. He eats one.
"What? I was just a little tired. I haven't had much sleep."
He puts the pouch away.
"I don't really think we have to worry about the messengers. Anyone immune to the Underdeep outside are the ones to worry about. Some of us are just hit harder then others..."
Gil begins to breath normally from his pilots seat and looks around the ship.
"I'm starting to get a clear head... We can be ready in a few moments to take off. Where are we heading anyways?"
"Back to Tabloid Town."

Post by Gelquie on Feb 21, 2010 23:15:29 GMT -5
((Mage Manor))
Gelquie wasn't quite sure what was happening. She was just trying to listen in on the conversation. But it seemed that as soon as she got near them, a dragon girl cringed before she collapsed. Gelquie blinked a few times, a line of concern crossing her face before she shook her head; she didn’t do it and she would get over it. Meanwhile, an elegant beauty with shimmering hair and eyes sparkling like the finest crystal underneath the shining sun started talking to the fox woman. …Woah, that was weird…
It was then that Gelquie heard something in her head, and all the angry and upset faces seemed to amplify in her mind. They were suddenly staring at her, as if she had done something wrong… Or as if she were a buzzing mosquito among them. The mages were glaring, but the most angry ones seemed to be from Spacefleet… They were so different… Gelquie suddenly felt herself taking out her dagger, holding it in front of her and gripping it tightly. The voice became louder, and Gelquie knew that it was a combination of her own and someone else she knew.
”They don’t know you, and they already seem to think that you’re a bad person. You know that you’ll have to run. And the best place you can run to is the middle of nowhere. Or you-know-where. Because you’re unlikable. So very unlikable.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps, yelling, a scream… Gelquie closed her eyes, but that did nothing to stop the staring and the sounds… And the face…
And then there was pain. Lots of pain, but it was worse in her head, where there was already a legitimate pain. Gelquie reeled for a moment before pressing herself against the wall in silent agony. Only a voice stopped it all, at least temporarily.
"Everyone! Get to one of the ships! It should be safer once you get in, and please watch out for the giant neon green bunny trying to smash us with a large tuna fish!"
She heard all of the sentence, but the last part of it snapped her out of it the best. Not letting go of her dagger, she walked hesitantly towards the Phantom Merc, hesitating on whether or not to get in yet.
“You’re going back out there? Back to Tabloid Town?! What do you think you’re going to do back there, start a mining service on the black oozy thing turning everything to stone?”
Gelquie looked out around her as she said it, the pain pulsing in her head again; she wasn’t positive that the ooze was affecting everything everywhere, but from the looks of things, she wouldn’t be too surprised. It seemed like the Apocalypse…
