[glow=red,2,300]Rider, who was about as sensitive to magic as Shiva was to feelings, attempted the poke the Table. It set off a little flash of warning.
"Anyone else get the feeling that this place is haunted?"[/glow]

"Maybe even by something worse than ghosts," Kat supplied. She raised an eyebrow as she examined the Table Fraze had showed her, the one that Rider poked.
"Touch nothing," the mage warned everyone. "I know the warning's too late for you, Rider, but at least we've established that nothing is to be touched around here. And we don't have time for perverted comments about what I just said."
Kat walked around the Table, tapping her thigh with her staff. She got down on her knees and crawled underneath the table. Lying on her back, she squinted at the tiny markings etched under it. She reached up with one finger as close as she dared, and watched a few red sparks fly from the space between her finger and the markings.
"It's more of those stupid runes," she said, not getting up. "And these are like an older script that I can't translate."

"Lemme see..." said Strife, crouching down to peer at the markings beneath the table. "I have some experience with alien languages."
As he crouched down, Kat moved a little so he could get a clear view. He squinted his eyes, peeking curiously at the glowing red inscription. Suddenly, he started to giggle a little bit.
"What is it?" asked Plushie, who was standing just behind him with her arms crossed.
"Eh heheh, this symbol looks like a pair of..." Strife turned his head and looked at the people staring at him, and decided not to finish his sentence. "Nevermind, only Leoness would get that joke..."
"What about the symbols? Have you seen them before?" asked Rider curiously.
"No, i'm afraid I don't recognize them," Strife replied while crawling out from under the table. "Jeepers... I wish i'd brought my triquarter along. Then I could've scanned it for any sign of spacial or temporal anomalies."
"We've already concluded though," added Plushie, "that there's some kind of temporal effect on the table in the cafe. It's possible that the rest of these tables are the same."
"Indeedsy..." Strife scratched his chin. "Do you think it's possible that these tabl-"
Suddenly, the group heard a noise that caused them to jump in surprise...

[glow=red,2,300]Rider swore as red and blue lights flashed in the store windows. "The cops. And I haven't even paid my most recent speeding ticket.
"Tell, me, we're breaking and entering, messing around with Tables and temporal planes and quite possibly rending the very fabric of reality apart. Tell me, is the law on our side here?" [/glow]

"Law enforcement?" Strife said, his eyes wide. "But i've never been in trouble with the law! I'm not a criminal!"
"Strife, we've been criminals ever since we started working at the space station." replied Plushie. "You know, the whole 'world domination' thing?"
"Ch'yeah... Of course..."
Strife then turned to Kat and Fraze. "Is there a way to teleport us out of here? Or isn't there some kind of Table of Teleportation in this place?" he started sweating. "Or... maybe, MAYBE it doesn't matter! Heh... If the cops take me in, i'll warp back in time at the end of this day anyway, so it'll be as though nothing ever happened!"
"STRIFE!" Plushie thrusted her arms at Strife and lifted him up by his shoulder pads. "Calm down! We'll get out of here, one way or another."

Fraze looked at Strife blankly. "Table of Teleportation? Those are just myths," he said, ignoring the irony of that statement. "Transportation Tables are limited to seagoing Tables and Tables of--
He paused and ran across the room. He stopped at a large Table, the size of a dinner table. It was, for the most part, wholly unremarkable and slightly worn. It looked like it had been used for years in some family's dining room.
Except, of course, for the three-meter wings that protruded from either end of it. At present, the wings, which resembled thick dragonfly wings more than bird wings, were folded and laid down on either side of the Table. "Table of Flying," he muttered.
"Kat!" he called. "This Table requires a magic-user to make it work. Think you can help?"

Zari blinked. 'I use magic. Maybe I could help.' She walked over and tapped the leg nearest, and jerked backwards 'Whoa. In Fae magical Item classes This'd be a class A. I hate to think what this table would be capable of if it had an intelligent malevolent mind' she shuddered

Zav blinked, "Ach! Sorry, I must have been daydreaming!" She sat up straight and peered at the menu. "Do you think I could get some hot chocolate, please?" She smiled at Ebil apologetically.

Kat thought for a moment. Opening her palm, she mentally guided a tiny thread of amethyst light that writhed and twitched as it sprang from her hand, like a tiny seedling. It began undulating like a very annoyed worm, till it grew to the approximate size and length of a small viper snake.
Then the thread of magic seemed to swim noiselessly through the air, as though it were water, and entwined itself around another one of the legs of the Table of Flying.
"This'll take a while," she said. "Apparently Tables like these are a bit choosy about their masters - or mistresses. You have to know how to push their buttons and talk them around. Well, not really talk, but you get the picture."
The thread started rubbing its head - or at least, the end which looked like the head - on the table leg, like an affectionate cat. It moved up and down as well, rubbing the wood. In fact, for a while, there was a sound like the soft, low purring of a cat.
With a sudden snapping noise, the wings suddenly sprang open and quivered, eager to soar.
"After you," said Kat, gesturing towards her comrades.

Fraze was summoned to go to a place known only as "The Reel Wurld." He could no longer play an active part in this adventure, but decided to stay here in spirit, a travelling NPC. He allowed the other adventurers to control his character as they wished.

Kat gestured once again at the winged table. The purple thread looked up and revealed itself to be a small serpentine dragon.
