"I think I pulled a muscle," mumbled the chimera.

Of course, she didn't say it too loudly; she was too busy listening to the others. Wait. Auspex had a pedestal? ...I'm going to be a scout? Great. No Kwoiffei, address one at a time... one at a time... start with the drunken clou-- Rider. Start with RIDER.

So she did.

"The one thing I can say that's good about that *EXPLETIVE DELETED AGAIN* is that he actually gets straight to the point. He isn't all rhyme and riddle and ambiguous auspice and all that *MORE EXPLETIVES!*." A deep breath... "Auspex told me that I'd lose my head (for a few seconds) when I meet that guy who lives on the edge.

"But... He demanded something rare and expensive. Normally he demands food! If it weren't for those *YOU KNOW THE DRILL* freeloaders I wouldn't have to be a freeloader myself just to get food!"

Thus ended her second rant for the day. Now she was quiet, focusing on making the hurt foot less painful. Quiet for, ah, five seconds...

"Wait. Auspex has high status?"

[Omni]

"Lose your head? As in go crazy?" Omni's eyebrows wrinkled. "I wouldn't call that much of a prophecy. This is the NTWF, after all."

[Goosh]

Goosher muttered something about insane chimeras. "C'mon, guys," he said, cleaning up dishes and plates, "Let's go climb the mountain."

The group mumbled assent, and Goosher could hear someone say, "This is SO Lord of the Rings!"

[Kat]

"I'd say Auspex has some high status, mastering the elements I know I can't," Kat pointed out frankly. "Look, you can put away those needles - I'll deflate my ego myself."

She glanced at the mountain and then looked back at her comrades. "Well? What're we waiting for? We're going to kick his butt, after all, right? I can't wait to rub it in his face." The mage opened her palm, and watched the tiny purple dragon leap from out of her hand and do a double somersault in the air before vanishing in a puff of matching smoke.

It took half a minute for Kwoiffei to finish massaging her foot, but once she had done, she wasted no time in standing up. She remained quiet for a few moments, but it was obvious that she was thinking (possibly because her gesture completely gave it away).

And then - CLANG! Something clicked in her mind.

For a moment, she had the urge to yell 'Objection', but that'd just make her look stupid, and despite being in a not-very-good state of mind, Kwoi was determined to stay at least somewhat dignified. So instead, she opted to get right to the point.

"The last thing I ever heard," she spoke, beginning in a lower voice than usual, but swiftly rising to a powerful crescendo, "Auspex, the Prophet, is completely incapable of elemental magic!"

The loud boom of thunder was heard, although the sky was far from blanketed in clouds. That, and someone had done the Plot Twist Dance out of nowhere, but it wasn't clear who it was. Either way it didn't matter. She'd made her point.

"Let's get moving."

[Kat]

Incapable of elemental magic.

That should even out the odds.

Kat smiled evilly; raising her index finger and watching a tiny flame ignite itself out of nowhere but the oxygen in the air and the friction of the magic and skin. And this one was the color of real fire, not just the purple of Kat's signature magic. It looked as though she had turned her finger into a match.

After making the flame disappear again in a puff of thin smoke, she glanced at Kwoi. She was hesitant to trust their new lead on Auspex, but then again, it never did hurt to try.

Besides, she knew other things besides elemental magic.

"Well, what are we waiting for?" said Kat, twirling her staff. "Auspex is going to have some guests today. And they can't be late now, can they?"

"Alright!" Goosher cried happily, "Let's go climb that mountain!" The team set off determinedly, and started marching across the emplty plains, headed for the dusky peak rising ominously from an empty continent.
