GUILYMPICS 2009 Spangled Anthem Support your favorite olympics by composing a chorus for us to mumble in an offhand manner, in an off-key tune and with so little enthusiasm, people might mistake us for snails. But really, we'd love to hear what you can come up with. Rules and Guidelines- No shorter than 4 lines. There is no limit to length, but if you write pages, it will be difficult for the judges. Use common sense.
- Any style may be used and there will be no preference for rhyming ones.
- Remember the spirit of the Guilympics when composing your work, Judges will look for origionality, humour, clever structure and/or general creativity. Thus, you don't have to be an epic poet.

I'll need to rewrite mine - I originally figured it had to be a song for each team

Just a reminder that this closes on the 16th of this month. You must have your entry in by then for it to be judged!

'k, this ended yesterday and I haven't even done mine. I guess people are busy with NaNo, so I'm extending it by another week. Hopefully I'll at lest get mine in and signups will remain open, so yeah.

Sarn's Anthem
Well, I was a bit lazy and got hot-headed.
Gloating over golden and glorious victory Uttering words of contempt at your enemies Interfering with the judges’ decisions. Losing is for the weak guilds Death to all who oppose us
Snogging the judge gets you points Poke fun at the other players because you can It’s only a game that you HAVE to win at all costs Ready your fighting gear In the heat of battle, foul play becomes fair play Torment the spectators by keeping them waiting for more
((Sarinon puts more work into hers so it'll come later today))

And now, Sarinon presents her verse:
People of this guilded land, Where mighty battles rage, Amongst ourselves we may fight, Pirate, ninja, mage, But when danger strikes us from afar, And threatens our homeland, We band together, everyone, In unity we stand.
Mages of the magic realm in manor do they dwell, Casting out their power, entwining us in spell.
Riders of the story sea, the ruthless pirates roam, Drinking rum with poker rounds as they sail upon the foam.
Honour and glory and chivalry uphold our valiant Knights, No enemy could withstand their fury in the fight.
With eyes for only golden coins work Mercenaries strong, Pay them coin and they will fight, no matter right or wrong.
Swift and silent as the night, the Ninjas stalk and prey, Never seen by anyone whether night or day.
Traversing by the twinkling stars in darkness lives Spacefleet, The staunchest band of spacemen you could ever meet.
Gentlemen and citizens, their power lies in steam, Upon their clever heads they strap goggles which do gleam.
And so the mighty guilders, Each with their own power, Do gather for Guilympics time, And wait upon the hour, When battlelines are set aside, When seven guilds unite, For one day we play friendly games, While on the next we fight.

Amneiger looked at the two pieces of paper in front of him. One of them had a copy of Sarn's song, and the other had a copy of Sarninon's song.
He spent a few minutes looking at Sarn's song.
"So...uh...I'm not sure how you sing this."

Sarn's face fell. He uhmed and ahhed for a while, then raised a finger as a mysterious lightbulb flicked on over his head. "You chant it." he said simply.
Crowd: *groans*

"But there's..."
Not really a chanting rhythm to this, he wanted to say, but it seemed impolite.
"...Never mind. I'm going to wait and see how the other entries go before final judging."

Erm, I'm not sure if Doody is still in this, and the deadline has passed...

Hmm, in that case it'd be a clear win for Steampunk then.
Um. Hurray for NaNo? And for songs being slightly harder to write then Bribe Bash RP posts? (Well, harder for me, that is.)

While I like Sarn's verses (and can imagine an energetic crowd chanting it) and I appreciate the acrostic sense of the song, I think I have to give the overall win to Sarinon for managing to address all the guilds and have catchy phrases. As well as being singable. ^^
