Hope I'm not premature in posting this. >.> Anyways, this'll probably be revised further in the future as we get a feel for what works with the new setup and what doesn't, but for now I want to get this started while I've got the time. A castle rises before you: two knights stand upoon either side of the oaken doors and share a glance before looking your way and allowing you inside. The castle beckons you, its torchlit corridors leading you toward the throne room. The doors are opened: You enter. |
 | A golden carpet stretches out before you and you follow it to the seat of a brown-haired man with a crown upon his head. His throne is intricate and regal, its back rising up and spreading out like the wings of a massive kestrel, the symbol of his kingdom. |
You bow before him, staring at his weathered face before you lower your head as well. The king raises his sword and brings it down upon you, touching your shoulder as he completes the accolade and presents your mantle. "Welcome," he says, "Welcome to Dunburrow." |
Welcome to Castle Kestrel, home of the Knights' Guild, where all things sword and sorcery reign. A realm of high fantasy and clashing swords, the Knights Guild is everything you could ever want it to be--we've got great and friendly members, a good roleplay, and more to come. So come on in and join us--unleash the inner Knight in you! To become a knight, you must vow to uphold the Code of Chivalry and swear fealty to the king of Dunburrow, King Kabe the First. In order to join the ranks of Dunburrow's Knights, you must also post the following appeal for knighthood in this thread: Name: Title, if applicable: Appearance: History: Weapon of choice: Interests: Special abilities/other: Color of choice: Your introduction to the guild is only an introduction--please be as brief as possible. You may post an extensive profile in our profile thread later; for now we simply want to get to know you a little better and welcome you here. If needed, links to Wikipedia's extensive color guides have been provided below; they will assist you in selecting the perfect color. Once you've posted your appeal, you are free to roam the guild and participate in any and all Knights Guild activities as you please. As soon as possible, the King or one of his appointed council members will present you with your mantle and a title if you've not yet acquired one. This thread is to be a hub of all lore and stuff, so I feel it's worthwhile to include this information as well to keep it all together, while still keeping another copy in the appropriate thread for guaranteed access by all members. Should need dictate, of course, the information in this post may be edited, amended, or left for those nasty sewer rats that make for great sword practice. Seriously. Go try it. New to the Guild? New to roleplay?Roleplaying doesn't have to be as scary or as intimidating as it sounds. Essentially, by "roleplaying" we're just telling a collaborative story, each of us in control of our own characters. We all add to the plot and help to develop the story. If you're new to writing and storytelling, just jump on in and do your best. You'll catch on quickly enough and with a little time you'll be roleplaying like a pro. If you're a new member to the guild, you don't need to suddenly appear in the roleplay as if out of nowhere. If you'd like, you can say your character has been in the kingdom for a few days/years/etc., just make sure you tell us when you post so we all know that our characters should already know yours, not that we waste time and confuse ourselves with needless introductions, lol. :] Roleplaying guidelines:To have a cohesive and productive roleplay full of action and depth, we ask that all roleplayers follow these suggestions:1: Be kind to others: don't godmode (control others' characters). 2. Be considerate: Don't dominate the roleplay. We want some semblance of equality here. 3. Try to have your posts be at least 150 words long. Nothing happens if we post one-liners. 4. Try to keep your OoC (out-of-character) and serious discussion only in the Dungeons. 5. Spellcheck your posts and double-space your paragraphs. It makes it easier for all of us. Verbal map of the kingdom and castle:Castle Kestrel stands in the middle of our capital, Palisade Falcorum, which is surrounded by small villages and farms. A lake lies to the west, as does a massive forest, and mountains may be seen in the north. In the castle, the library, servant's quarters, and kitchen are in the east wing; the infirmary is in the west. The armory and the war room are found in the south wing, whereas the the Knights' quarters are found in the north. The heart of our castle, the Great Hall, is at the castle's core, easily reached from all points in the kingdom. Lastly, the dungeons, cellars, prisons, and other such places are located in the deep earth beneath the castle itself. Many hidden passageways lie waiting to be found.

Three's a good number, so I'll leave my reserved posts at this. For now, everything fits nicely with plenty of room to spare, so should the future bring a hoard of new things to add, we've got plenty of room to expand. Summary of the Knights Guild's Past Roleplays:The present summary will be updated as necessary for your roleplaying convenience. [The Knights' Intro Roleplay] As the day begins, the Knights of Dunburrow are preparing for the coronation of their new king. As the day goes on, however, an evil ascends upon the castle and news of its arrival is soon made known. The Knights Shade and Kit descend to the dungeons to face the evil, while the White Knight Shinobi and the others head for the ceremony, where the Green Knight Wolf is crowned King. Heeding the call of their comrades, those Knights attending the ceremony venture into the dungeons to assist in the battle. Meanwhile, the King climbs to the top of a tower to call forth the prowess of a forest god to cast the evil from the castle and put his Knights to rest.
At last, after the castle has been kept standing by the hands of Dunburrow’s valiant Knights, a new day is born.
[The Knights' Roleplay - A New Day] The day begins with many new knights arriving in the castle. During breakfast, King Wolf appoints his council and it is made known that veteran Knights cannot recall a thing from the day before, a cause for worry and suspicion. Meanwhile, a small group of troubadours arrives in the kingdom. Elsewhere in the castle, a maid attacks the Knights but escapes their grasp. Lady Kat, the assaulted Knight, is taken to the infirmary to rest.
As the day continues, some Knights approach the troubadours outside while a man approaches King Wolf and presents him with the wardship of a young boy named Jonathan. Afterwards, some Knights gathered outside look up to see a large kestrel, the protector and sign of the kingdom, fly overhead screeching. This accompanied by a recent infestation of cats prowling the castle's halls and the city's streets leads many Knights to wonder what is happening to Dunburrow. Inside, a dark presence is discovered in the castle as word begins to spread about rising wars in kingdoms to the south and west of Dunburrow.
[The Knights' Roleplay - War Ascending] Dawn ascends with the news of an approaching caravan led by General Alec and his seer Casandra, who together have already conquered many kingdoms. The Knights rally their forces and meet in negotiations, but words are tense, and doubly so when Kit meets Casandra and old flames reignite--in the ugliest shade of black. Kit is taken hostage and Dunburrow is left to stand with a shaken king. Wolf, feeling powerless, learns the truth of Dunburrow's true heir, and in doing so crowns Sir Kabe as their rightful king. While Kabe takes the helm against Alec (presumably causing him to flee in fright of the kingdom's greatest general), Wolf meets a figure from his past and flees the kingdom while Lady Shade, the Envoy, spreads the word of Dunburrow's new king.
NPCs and other community characters:NPCs, or non-playable characters, can be controlled by any roleplayer as needed. Generally speaking, servants (including, but not limited to, maids, healers, and personal attendants), shop keepers, peasants and non-Knight characters are all NPCs, though there are some exceptions. When using an NPC, try not to ratically change their character if they've been used before. NPCs can be created as needed, within logical constraints (e.g., don't make a cook appear in the hallway without a good reason for it). When introducing a community-controlled character, mention so in your post and he/she/it will be added to the list below. In most roleplays, the invading armies will usually be controlled by the roleplaying community as a whole. Here follows a list of all presently active community-controlled characters in the Knights Guild: King Kabe - desc.: Dunburrow's rightful king; tall, muscular, brown hair, brown eyes. He's our very own Aragorn, the epitome of kingship. He was once the world-feared commander of Dunburrow's army. The Presence - allegiance: unknown - description: unknown - skills, ability, purpose: unknown - other: roams the castle, first discovered in the attic (the castle has only one attic? fO_o) General Alec - allegiance: the unknown army - description: tall, well-built (muscular); fair skin, sandy-blond hair, neatly-trimmed beard; blue eyes Casandra - allegiance: General Alec - description: wears armor, easily mistaken as a man (no further description at present) - other: scries with a crystal ball, wields a sword Harold - innkeeper at the Kestrel's Cross - description: none at present Allen and friends - various servants organising a secret army - there are also three mages, two girls and a guy Jorn and Ricard - two teenage brothers serving as the caravan's watchmen - description: none at present Jared - the caravan's highest official under Alec - no descriptions as of yet Syntyche - allegiance: General Alec - description: a mage with pale skin and hazel-blonde hair

((Tamia's Appeal to the King)) Despite her resolution to remain composed for at least one morning, the girl found that her heart was pounding as she lay her hand on the smooth stone of the castle wall, inches away from the open doors of the throne room. The stone was cool, comforting. It was home. She hesitated only a moment before crossing in front of the doors and turning onto the gold ribbon that led to the throne. She measured her pace carefully -- not so brisk as to seem impatient, and yet not slow enough to be considered timid. Her stride was purposeful. She walked in a straight line, up the very center of the golden carpet. When she reached the ornate throne at its end, she bowed low, hoping to radiate the respect she knew she would need to display if she were to be allowed back into the Order. She found it hard to look into King Kabe's face when she rose. She didn't know him. He didn't know her. When she met his wise brown eyes, a sudden image of the last king flashed into her mind, and she felt a strange pang of longing for the way things once were. She reached into a pocket of her weather-beaten travelling cloak and suppressed a blush as she realized the mess she probably looked like. Withdrawing her hand, she produced a small scroll, which she presented to him. "My name is Tamia Wendfeld, Your Majesty." She realized she was practically glaring at him, and did her best to soften her expression, although she knew her eyes must still have held a noticeable spark of the determination she had come here with. She bowed again, differently this time. One knee out before her, her head tilted towards the floor -- the same bow she had used nearly three years ago when receiving her mantle for the first time. "I vow to uphold the Code of Chivalry," she recited, eyes fixed on the base of the throne before her. She counted three chips in the stone there. "And I swear fealty to you, the king of Dunburrow, King..." She stopped herself just before making the mistake, and recovered as quickly as she could. "Kabe the First." Name: Tamia Wendfeld Title, if applicable: One of the Last to Rise ((I still associate this with sleeping in more than anything else, so I suppose King Kabe might see fit to bestow a different title upon me? ^^ ) Appearance: 19 years old, medium height and build. Fair skin, bright blue-green eyes, dark blonde hair that reaches an inch or two past her shoulders and is often seen in a braid or low ponytail. Rarely seen without her dragonhide boots, which lace up to her knees. History: Er. Short version. Raised on a farm near the village of Millsford. Impulsively vowed to become a knight after her father was killed in a demon attack, and did so at the age of 16. Fought several battles, eventually earning the rank of Court Marshall -- a title that effectively scared her away from the guild. She left to reconcile herself with her past in Millsford, and a disturbing chain of events there led her to a confrontation with the same demon that had beseiged the village years ago. Tamia remembers very little of this, as there is a gap in her memory that ends with her waking up on a hilltop outside of Millsford. She occasionally has flashbacks depicting a woman in black and her own body being engulfed in golden flame. She is trying to piece this memory together, but Oran refuses to say anything. Weapon of choice: Quite skilled with her first weapon, a homemade slingshot, although she is able to weild a sword as well as demonstrate a basic understanding of archery. Interests: herblore, healing, stories, and horses. Special abilities/other: Rarely seen without the telepathic black cat, Oran. Color of choice: Orange. *Disclaimer: The scroll's contents have been formatted for your reading convenience. Please note that Tamia is not, in fact, spilling every one of her secrets (as well as a decidedly accurate description of her appearance) to the ruler of Dunburrow. xP

It was the lady Wendfeld who decided her. Castle Kestrel was not welcoming to her, and Crystal had always had few friends there. Castle Kestrel had never approved of her.
She didn't know this new king, either. She was uneasy about trusting him; and she was uneasy about sinking back into the bed of lies. But in the end, Castle Kestrel was the only (distant, faraway, condemning) home she had.
So Crystal flitted into the king's private dining hall at the noon bell with the uneasy grace of a ballerina and waited until her liege was seated before slinking forward. Quietly, without drama, she sank to one knee before his seat, and folded her hands before her, and did not rise again until the end.
"I will uphold the code," she said softly, "and I will serve you, your Majesty."
Name: Crystal Tumbleweed, Lady, Sepia Knight
Appearance: Lightly tanned, slim and fragile-looking. She favours no armour at all; in fact, she looks delicate, like a dancer.
History: Crystal grew up as a ninja, but she wandered away and finally joined the Knights some time back. However, the ninja dojo has grown and shrank and utterly changed, and Crystal is now uncomfortable in the place of her birth. While she is uneasy with the strict code of honour, but the Knights provide the closest form there is to her upbringing, with their hierarchy of rank and their arts of war.
She has connived and lied her way to become a Knight, and has problems understanding the moral inhibitions to poisons and backstabbing, but she is solidly loyal and respectful once sworn.
Weapon of choice: Double-handed, with two light swords of whatever make. Proficient with broadsword and lance, but she is easily tired due to her light build. In her element, she can perform some amazing gymnastical hand-to-hand combat feats and uses poison on her blades.
Interests: Chemistry. Crystal enjoys messing with drugs and poisons. She also likes to read.
Special abilities/other: None.971

With a long purposeful stride, Sarn stepped into the Throne Room, his face set in a serious expression, masking the turmoil that swelled within. He shifted his wings into the traditional Feberi gesture of respect and abasement, even though he knew of none in the room that would understand. Sarn raised his eyes to gaze into those of the impassive King Kabe. He decided that it was far easier to face an army of savage enemies, than to look upon the face of his own king. He would sooner trade the latter for the former than continue to feel as he did. Normally so confident, Sarn hated the atmosphere here. When he had first joined, King Wolf had been welcoming and friendly, not aloof like a king was expected to be. Sarn hoped to be able to know his king like a brother. Here, the words of his father came rushing back to him. "A king is no one special, simply the first among equals. Treat them with respect, but don't worship them." He stood before Kabe and wondered if he should bow to a man who seemed more a title than a man, but his Feberi instinct told him that worship is not represented by prostration, but that respect is. He would clear his mind of all predispositions about the new ruler and start with a clean slate. Bending his knees, Sarn lowered himself, touched his head to the ground, and then looked up once more, passing his tiny scroll to King Kabe. "I, Sariphe Brightfeather, promise to serve and obey the rightful king of Dunburrow, to uphold the code of Chivalry laid down for us, and to honour the Order of Dunburrow. These things I swear, until death take me, or my Lord release me." Name: Sariphe Brightfeather Nickname: Sarn Species: Feberi Character Type: Knight and Mage Age: 25 Height: 6'2" Mantle: Golden Title: The Divine Essence, Archer of the Heavens
Appearance: Sariphe is very tall with pale, almost translucent skin. Other than his wings, purple irises and a fine, alien bone structure are the only indications that Sariphe isn't quite human. His facial features are long and narrow with fine lines of symmetry and a thin mouth and long features give Sariphe's face an ethereal appearance.
Sariphe’s pure white hair falls down to brush its tips against his thin shoulders and is a source of much admiration for those who are unfamiliar with Feberi colouring. The messy tumble of hair is bright with thin strands of silver and glows in the moonlight.
Exceptionally long fingers give Sariphe dexterity and very small, mostly hollow bones make him lightweight and able to fly long distances. The muscles of Sariphe's back and chest are long and thin, but very tough and strong. They are built for endurance flight, although Sariphe can carry an adult human for quite a long time before requiring rest.
Huge golden wings with a span of over 14 feet allow for extra maneuverability in the air as well as quick turns and fancy aerobatics. Sariphe's streamlined body also helps with wind resistance, giving him the ability to exert quick bursts of speed while flying.
Personality: Driven mostly by emotion, Sariphe is a highly passionate being, feeling extremes of love and hate, joy and despair, and sometimes all at the same time. He is known to be impulsive, acting with little thought for the consequences that might follow any given action. In stark contrast to this, Sariphe is prone to bouts of quiet, thinking deep thoughts and preferring to be alone, oftentimes flying to an unreachable height to simply sit and watch the stars or to sing softly to the night.
He is loyal, deeply loving of everyone and everything, full of compassion and emotion. The driving force behind Sariphe’s actions is most often the welfare of friends and family, though a selfish trait, born of Feberi heritage, has sometimes reared its head and Sariphe has been unable to resist its effects.
Clothing: Having wings makes clothing a difficult thing for Sariphe. Though he has been known to resort to remaining bare-chested, he does not do this often, preferring to wear a pair of dark purple or black breeches with a simple white shirt with slits for him to force his wings through. Sariphe sometimes wears a dark golden brown open vest, or a purple cloak edged with gold thread. His footwear consists of a pair of simple boots in boring black or brown.
Armour: Sariphe rarely dons armour except when going into close combat, though his armour is fairly basic. A simple chain mail shirt over a tunic, a dark leather belt. The chain mail has openings at its back to allow Sariphe's wings through, but this makes it weak in that area.
Weapon of Choice: Crafted by Sariphe's father, his yew bow is four feet tall from tip to tip and fitted with golden chasings. It has a fine golden thread for the string and gilded feathers at each tip. The arrows are hand crafted by Sariphe with magical tips of fire and fletched with feathers from his own wings. The arrows are enchanted by the Feberi archer to always return to him.
Sariphe also carries a sword, passed down by his family for generations, though he is unskilled with the weapon and prefers to keep it safe rather than use it. He holds much disdain for such cumbersome weapons as longswords, but his sword is light and traced with veins of fire magic that give it a soft golden glow.
It has a plain, double-edged blade with a leather grip and gilded hilt. The scabbard is of plain black leather with a cross-hatch stitched in thin golden thread, but the point of the scabbard is gilded in the shape of two rising wings, following the outline of the sword.
Magical Capabilities: Through his connection with the Star Dance, Sariphe can manipulate the world around him using song. He has a database of melodies stored in his mind and, given the right situation, can call to mind, or improvise any song to suit his purpose. He is most adept at fire and light enchantment but can also stretch to others. One area in which Sariphe has no skill is healing.

Post by Nut on Jul 10, 2009 8:49:41 GMT -5
The castle looked small from up here on the hill as Nut stood gazing out over it. The young knight made her way down through the grasses, feeling the hilt of her sword shaking as she moved. Flags waved atop the castle’s turrets; how much blood had been shed in efforts to keep them flying there? She little knew, and little cared. She wasn’t part of the chivalrous order that governed the castle’s army. For years she had wandered free out among hills and trees, steering clear of the battles that stained the ground red. But her sword grew restless now, and if she were to fight, she wished to fight for a cause. She respected the Code upheld by the Knights of Dunburrow, and though she did not know the new king, if he supported the Code then he was on her side. The castle looked enormous from where Nut stood now, outside the gate leading inside the stone walls. She paused in the sunlight and drew a rolled sheet of parchment from her blue cloak, taking the time to scrawl down a few notes. With the scroll in hand, Nut strode into the castle, passing silently by lines of armored statues without meeting their eyes. Upon seeing a guard, she explained her business and requested permission to enter the Throne Room. She was soon being escorted through the castle. In front of the throne, she knelt down to the floor, her cloak falling around her. “I have heard tell of the honorable Code of Chivalry and I am glad to say that I will swear by it from this day forth,” she said. “I respect anyone who is faithful to it, and I trust that you are. Therefore I swear now to serve you, Your Majesty, King Kabe.” She placed the scroll on the floor before her and waited to be told to rise. Name: Nut Wavestrike Title, if applicable: Soothing Wave Appearance: 16 years old, short, with blue eyes and bright aqua hair that falls to the base of her back, usually braided unless there is a dramatic wind blowing. She dresses all in blue on purpose, usually in cloaks and tunics. History: She is a wanderer who grew up in the mountains, learning sword skills in order to protect herself from the dangers of the wild. Weapon of choice: A thin sword that glows blue. Interests: Reading, healing, and keeping journals and sketchbooks Special abilities/other: She possesses water magic that she falls back upon if her sword isn’t enough. Her magic is stronger than her hand-to-hand combat skills, although she doesn’t like to acknowledge this. Color of choice: Aquamarine

From the gates of Castle Kestrel appeared a cloaked creature, its identity shrouded in the darkness of its garment. Only the pink tail could be seen from its body, the yellow bell from it ringing its discreet yet eerie chime. Those who were within the roster during the previous king's rule would immediately discover who the being was, but it did not matter. Making its way towards the throne room, the creature took a few more steps that seemed to last for a few minutes. Finally seeing its position in front of the king, it knelt down to give respect to its existence; an existence that would only last for a few years, it thought. The creature removed the cloak, revealing a pink cat that stood on the two back limbs. "I am SILE from the dimension of Animalia," she promptly introduced herself. "Indeed, you are currently looking at a very peculiar being, but my intentions hold the same as those of the knights beforehand. I am here to present the scroll in which I would pledge my allegiance via writing." SILE pulled out her scroll from the pocket of her jeans and placed it on the ground. A squire immediately picked it up and, after searching for anything dangerous lying within that he found none, placed it on the altar in front. Name: SILE Title, if applicable: The Clement Sword Appearance: An anthropomorphic pink cat standing at 5' 4" and wears her mini-shirt and blue jeans, prefering not to slow herself down with the burden of extra armor. The bell on her tail brace would chime occasionally as she handles her magical katana with her brown gloves. History: Once acknowledged as a being capable of eradicating her own world, SILE swore her goal of keeping herself in company with Cat Assassin after the former sacrificed his existence to stop the prophecy. As a result, she was stripped of most of her powers by her own biological state, leaving her in almost tenth of her potential. Nonetheless, her sword handling and keen observational skills had not deteriorated. SILE eventually found her way into Castle Kestrel, swearing an oath to protect the kingdom it governs. Weapon of choice: Katana Interests: Healing, meditation, sword-handling, community services Special abilities/other: The usual side-effect of SILE's powers is that she would suddenly collapse, bringing her mind to a state where it can sense what would happen to the future. The possibility of the future she sees would only occur if fate would be left alone to decide. Color of choice: Pink "And now I shall give you this: that what I had done in writing shall be done verbally as well. Hence, I swear my undying loyalty to this kingdom, this castle... and my..." SILE paused for a second before continuing. "... king."

Guys, this looks awesome! I won't have time to read through all of them while I'm here most likely (not being sick anymore does that), but I'm eager to see it all when I get back. ^_^ ( Pssst, do I need to do this for both of my characters? Since Rose Petal asked me to take over Rose Petal for her?) If you plan on being active with both of them, I say go for it. If you just think you'll primarily use Cyborg for now, just do his. Should you then use Rose's character more in the future, you could always add hers then. Ultimately, though, it's just up to you. :)

Midknight, followed by Rose stepped into the Throne Room. They walked slowly up to King Kabe and knelt on one knee before him. " I am Midknight. I am here to present the scoll, pledging my allegiance to you." Midknight stated. " And I, Rose am here to do the same." Rose added. Midknight grabbed his scroll out of his cloak, Rose grabbing hers from her pocket. Squires took both of the scrolls, checking for hazards, before placing them in their rightful spots on the altar. Dragus stands outside the gates of castle and sighs. He looks around and fidgets a little in his armor. "I don't wear this stuff enough, but first impressions is a good thing. Now where did I put that scroll?" He pats himself down several times before he notices a fox tail hiding behind a bush. He walks over to it and clears his throat. The small fox pokes turns around pushing a scroll with it's nose. Dragus leans down and picks the roll of paper up. He pats the fox on the head, nods his head, and walks back to the front gates. With another sigh he steps past them and into the castle. After a few moments of walking through the castle he reaches the throne room, and the new King. He steps forward and kneels down before the King. "A Knight is sworn to valor. His heart knows only virtue. His blade defends the helpless. His might upholds the weak. His word speaks only truth. His wrath undoes the wicked. I the Dragon of the Skies, Dragus, hereby pledge my alliance to King Kabe, Castle Kestrel, and the kingdom of Dunburrow." He than hands holds out his scroll to the King. Name: Dragus Ocard

While there Dragus' original sword was broken and replaced with the traditional katana of the region. After much training he decided to bid farewell to his current home and return back to Castle Kestrel. Occasionally he still tends to go on small trips, either for his own reasons, or on business.
For unknown reasons, ever since he left the far eastern country foxes tend to follow him. He doesn’t mind, but he still has yet to figure out why they like him…
He has a cousin in the Ninja Guild.

Shade strode into the Great Hall, dressed in dark gray-brown. The phoenix rising outlined in bronze over her chest was the only point of light on her, and even that seemed dulled by the shadows that formed her wings. Though she kept her wings close to her back, the shadows seemed alive, writhing over her body like threads of dark mist. There were no other knights in the hall; she had planned it this way, coming to the king bare minutes before his audiences closed for the day. She watched the king carefully, studying all the differences between him and Wolf, her friend, the one who had last sat upon the throne. In some ways, they were so similar. In others, they could not be more different. But they both wanted the best for Dunburrow, and that was what mattered. She stopped in front of the throne, narrowing her eyes. “I hope you don’t expect me to respect you in the same way as the other knights,” she said quietly. “You are my king. I have sworn loyalty to the throne and crown of Dunburrow. I will do so again. But though I know you, you are not my friend.” Shade bowed formally, letting her wings dissipate. “I swear myself to the protection of Dunburrow,” she said, projecting her voice into the mostly empty hall. “I swear to uphold the laws of the kingdom, the integrity of its people, and the safety of its lands. I swear to guide those who falter in their path back to the truth.” She met the king’s eyes, smiling softly. “I swear to guard the king and castle with my life, if need be. And I swear to be a model of all that is good and right in the world.” The words she spoke were old ones, ones taken from records of other lands. During her time as Royal Envoy, Shade had studied the documents, trying to understand how the idea of a knight differed from place to place. The words she spoke may not be the traditional ones for knights of Dunburrow, but they were an oath as old, if not older. She knelt, still meeting the king’s eyes. “I swear my sword to the kingdom and to you, King Kabe. In times of peace, in times of war; in times of love, in times of hate. I am a knight of Dunburrow, and nothing will ever change that.” ((Which Shade left in Kabe’s rooms earlier and really doesn’t contain everything, but whatever.))
Name: Shade Kolsire Title, if applicable: Phoenix of Darkness, (former?) Royal Envoy Appearance: Black hair that goes a few inches past her shoulders, bright blue eyes, dusty skin. An athlete’s build. About average in height. Has wings made out of shadows and mist, if she wants them. Wears gray, black, and brown, usually with a phoenix rising inscribed on her clothes somewhere. History: Her father was a demon, her mother a human. Simple enough story, except her mother didn’t know her father was a demon until after Shade was born. Made things interesting, especially since it took Shade about ten years to figure out what she (and her father) were. When Shade was fourteen, she made her way to Falcorum and Castle Kestrel to be trained as a knight. At seventeen, she was knighted. Weapon of choice: Savucu, a sword her father gave her. It’s forged of bronze, but acts like steel. Because it’s bronze and demons made it, it can change its shape slightly, though it needs to have the same total mass. Savuvu’s normal form is a katana. Interests: Demonology, swordplay, researching Dunburrow’s history, as well as the history of nearby kingdoms. Special abilities/other: Minor transmutation magic which hurts her to use and tends to leave her utterly drained. She usually only uses it when the other choice is to bleed to death. Um. Wings, so she can fly. She can see auras if she focuses, but if she does that, she can’t see normally. And, if she wants, she can enter the shadowlands, a demon plane. The risk of that is that she’s fairly likely to get killed by the demons there, but moving through the shadowlands is typically faster than the normal world. Color of choice: Bronze, obviously. ((Hey, Wolf. Edit your Roleplay Guidelines so that the one about OoC chatter refers to the correct thread, 'cause this is really just the introduction/knighting one.))
