"Hm...I think I noticed that." I replied. Shagai didn't seem too happy with the dog.
If it was just me, that mutt would be our supper. he thought to me.

Laewyn noticed the tiger seemed angered at the dog. "Dog. Here." The dog, obedient to his master's command, ran over to its master, tongue lolling out of its mouth. Laewyn petted his head absent mindedly. "That's a neat looking tiger, there. Magical, I presume?" Laewyn didn't mean for those words to tumble out; they just did. She kept her face reserved, but inwardly got angry at herself; the less they thought she knew - especially about magic - the better. ((Oh. Forgot to mention this. Her entire body is tattooed with runes of different sorts; protection, etc. Every part except her head (the head is left to think about the runes and cast spells), and her fingers and soles of her feet (to experience the world). So her hands are bandaged and stuff. You can't see any of the runes, though.  And if you did, you wouldn't know what they were unless you were a Sartan.)) |

Laewyn was a little surprised to see the tiger talk, but not very. She assumed he had some sort of magical powers; just not speaking. She had yet to meet an animal on any planet that could talk. More surprising was how easy the animal was about it. He couldn't care less, which either meant he had so much magic or physical strength he didn't care about people being unknowing to his magical ability. Either that or there were so many magical animals around that it was the norm. Laewyn decided not to think about it any more than she had to; she'd learn more about this planet as she spent more time on it. However, somewhere in the back of her mind, the sensible part spoke up.
If every animal here were magic, he'd be wondering about your dog and why you were so curious. So it's gotta be he has lots of defense.
Shut up. She told her brain. She looked innocently at the tiger. "Just I...I dunno, just my Dog's never shown any magic or anything ... are there lots of tigers like you?"

Laewyn was tempted to say 'and are all the creatures there as rude as you?' but she didn't. She remembered more of what her Lord had said; :You have the skills to defend yourself and destroy most of what is around you. You have the wits and self-restraint to never make that an option." One thing she had learned from the Labrynth was patience and self-restraint. She instead, focussed her attention to her hands, which were itching due to the bandages wrapped around her hands. After a few days, they would stop itching - they itched every time she put on the bandages for when she was around non-Patryns - but for now it bothered her a lot.
