"Huh...Wha...?" asked Yrein, confused. She was having trouble remembering what had happened. "Ugh....my head..." she muttered, putting a paw(?) on her forehead.

"Take it easy," Reiza spoke gently, fanning the water dragon with a leafy branch. "We found you in the middle of the plains. As far as I know, there isn't any water around for quite a distance. These vines have enough water in them to at least revive you a bit, but getting you back to some real water will take a while."
Reiza sat back, a bit exhausted herself. She leaned against a nearby tree, and taking in the earthen smells around her, she closed her eyes. It seems so familiar... she thought.
... "Mommy, why are we here?" The small yellow dragon questioned of the golden dragon next to her. They stood in a densely forested area, not too far from some stray mountainous peaks. "There is a hidden shrine here," the golden dragon spoke to her young one, "and the elder of this shrine needs our help. The entrance is by the rock shaped like a phoenix, and when set aflame by an elemental power, the cavern shall open." The young dragon watched in awe as the phoenix rock seemed to burst with life, and the earth pulled away a few feet before them. She cautiously tread after her mother into the dark, vast cavern, oddly lit by scattered crystals. "There's a lake down here!" the young dragon exclaimed, breathtaken at its beauty amongst the crystal lights ...
Reiza jolted awake, and glancing around, recalled where she was. "There may be water closer than we think," she stated out loud.

Oh yeah, now I remember. Yrein thought to herself. 'Tis all my fault too. I knew very well that the plains were off-limits. But noo, I just HAD to go there and prove myself to the world. Pfft, how grand, getting to the state of dehydration...
Yrein was so busy scolding herself for what she had done, she was not paying attention to what Reiza was saying.

"I know you're still exhausted, but can you walk on your own now?" Reiza asked the water dragon, offering her a paw up. "There's a hidden lake nearby."
Recieving puzzled looks from the other dragons, Reiza explained the memory she had. "... and if I'm correct, then we're only about 100 feet from it. Will you help me find it?" she asked pleadingly. "We have to search for the phoenix rock. It is guarded on each side by a pedestal, containing the emblem of darkness."

Yrein got up, swaying slightly, but got back on balance a few seconds after. "So...you're searching for a rock phoenix?"

"Yes," Reiza answered, waiting nearby the water dragon, ready to catch her should she fall. "Oh, and I'm Reiza, that's Krien -" pointing towards the earth dragon - "and that's ... erm ... actually, I don't think I caught your name," Reiza said, glacing towards the dark red dragon. She turned back towards the water dragon, mentioning, " and the only thing you said before you passed out was that Krien was a hallucination," Reiza smiled.

Yrein moaned. "That actually came out? I really need to shut up sometimes..." she sighed. "My name's Yrein." she finally said in a low tone.

"Oh, sorry... forgot to introduce myself. I'm Ilensei, and my element's fire, if you hadn't noticed." "Do you need us to support you?" she asked Yrien.

"I dunno." muttered Yrein. "I feel fine, but then again you never know..."

"Here, we can both walk on each side of you. That way, we can catch you if you start to fall." Reiza said. "It's not that far, I'm sure you can walk this short distance if you made it that far into the middle of the plains. Come on, Krien," Reiza added as an after thought, urging the Earth dragon to follow.
The odd group of dragons slowly trudged through the green foilage, taking their time to allow Yrein to walk. After about half an hour, Reiza took note that the trees were growing closer together, and though it was the middle of the day, it seemed like dusk beneath the leaves. We're definitely close, Reiza thought. At that moment, she spied something up ahead.
Could it be .... ?

Ilensei walked on the side of Yrein. She sniffed. "Is that water?"

"It is!" Reiza cried out. "It's ... the phoenix stone ...?"
Reiza stopped short. The statue was indeed there, but it had been shattered. The shrine entrance, inset in a giant boulder, hung open, decorated with vines and green moss. It was obvious that it had been left open for a long time. The surrounding woods held the look of a recovering battlefield; the trees and ground scorched with dark spells from long ago had recovered new growth already, though in sections they remained dead from direct hits. There were other battle marks as well, but they were strange and new to Reiza.
"Something happened here ... something terribly wrong..." Reiza uttered, her mouth hanging agape at the scene before her.
Reiza crept foward and stepped into the shrine entrance, which lead downwards to an underground cavern. She walked under the dark dragon carvings, familiar to her, and at the same time, unfamiliar for the dullness and lack of magic they held. The cave seemed dimmer than her memories served her, but she was still correct about one thing.
"Hey guys!" The lake is still down here!" Reize shouted up the stone passage, and sat back, waiting for the others to join her.

Ilensei ambled there, not in real hurry. Yes, she needed water to survive, as did any living creature, but it didn't really agree with her core element. She enjoyed the occasional swim, but that was quite a rarity among fire elemental dragons.

Reiza, growing bored of waiting for the others to catch up, took the time to light up the cavern surrounding the underground lake. She called upon her powers of light, summoning a floating sphere that emitted a strong glow. She let it hover in the middle of the lake cavern. Instantly, all of the crystals caught the light and scattered it, so that the entire cave was covered in crystalized specks of light.
'grrrowwwlll ....' Reiza was suddenly painfully aware that she had not had anything to eat for a long time. She tried to ignore her stomach's rumblings, but it was to no avail. Well, I suppose we could see if there's still anybody at the shrine ... maybe they'd have food, if there is anybody here ... Reiza thought, in an effort to calm her stomach.
Reiza took in her surroundings, trying to recall the way to the shrine. She closed her eyes in an effort to recall her faded memories.
... "I'll take this path, mommy, and you can take that one ... the sooner we find the right path, the sooner we'll get to the main shrine, right?" the little yellow dragon said, running foward. "Wait, Reiza," the large golden dragon scolded, "this is a shrine, and it holds many traps for those who would come to take the sacred stones. Only death can befall you in the false paths, so we must choose the right one from the start." "But how will we know the right path?" the youngster pestered. "This is a shrine for the darkness ... we must follow the blackest path," she said, glancing towards the three diverting paths, lit with the glowing crystals. "But let us rest first, it has been a bit of a journey to get here." the mother dragon spoke to her little one, patting for her to take a seat beside her at the blackened waters....
Reiza opened her eyes. She couldn't recall which path they had taken ... Maybe the others will be able to help me recall, Reiza thought, glancing toward the tunnels at the far end of the lit cavern. She leaned back against a stalacite, waiting for the others to join her beside the pitch black waters.

Krien had happily laid against the tree, and enjoyed the blissful fact everyone was ignoring him. People tended to let out more when they forgot who was around. Not that Krien had anything against these dragons, but 3 dragons in as many minutes had upped his paranoia and made him wodner jsut who was hallucinating.
When they were down in the depths of the lake-cave, as Krien dubbed it, he finally couldn't take it. He had been RAISED in this forest - and this cave was new to him.
"Look, uh, Reiza - besides this water, what IS this place? A shrine? But... for whoo?"
