Stroke. Stroke. Not too many more now. Stroke. The girl groaned and scrunched her eyes shut. This was the most severe workout her arms had had in a while… rowing. Pah. She was a land person. But that was all about to change, starting with this rowboat that she’d commandeered and used to hunt the white ship that now floated before her like some majestic bird.
“Hey,” she called, immediately changing her mind and instead shouting “Ahoy!” However, an upwards glance towards the railing of the ship revealed that it was not necessary to draw any attention to herself – faces were already peering over the edge towards her. Or were they looking past her…?
She followed some gazes to the sea around her. Of course, she thought, mentally smacking her forehead, the water. The stupid water isn’t moving.
“I can explain this,” the girl gestured to the sea surrounding her boat. “I think it helps me row more easily.” Then she realized that ‘think’ was entirely the wrong word to use. Obviously the ship’s crew wouldn’t be aware of her accursed little spurts of magic, showing up when she hadn’t asked for them. “My name’s Tamia – I have information for you!” The reason behind her day of rowing. “I want to come with you!”
((I’m not the sail ship. I currently don’t even know there’s a ship behind me. :3))

[glow=red,2,300]((A plague upon final exams! A plague, I say!))[/glow] "What happened between you and that Krawk, that you want us to leave her be? You sounded kind of strange when you gave that order... is she someone you know?" Ikkin asked. "Her father was... hey!" Rider was quickly distracted by the girl in the rowboat. "Careful, kid!" Shew threw the rope ladder down at Tamia. "What are ye doing so far out at sea in a rowboat?" The Krawkess ran to the top deck, clutching her locket in one hand so firmly that her knuckles went white. She had the same sinking feeling as the Meepits. "Crew! Anyone who can't fight, get back to the White Weewoo!" Rider ordered. "Meepits, protect our ship!" "You don't intend to fight it!" The Krawess said in shock. "You can't run, remember? We broke your bracers, and you can't row fast enough to outrun it." "Lass, ye'd send us all ter Davy Jones's Locker?" asked the ship's captain. "I been talkin' ter yer lady friend e'er since this unnat'ral calm came about us. I know what we're up against. If ye're that concerned about us, ye can take us ter shore in your pretty vessel. We haven't the strength ter steal it anyways." He paused. "Nay, I think there's another reason ye be wantin' ter fight that..." "Get on the Weewoo." Rider snapped, cutting the captain off. "Get yer men on the Weewoo, now. Ikkin, we'll need a strong tail wind ter get ter the north shores o' Mystery Isle afore... Yeah, jus' give us the best ye've got." Everyone recieves one doubloon! The ship recieves: Books from the Lost Desert, one crate of Three silver rings Altadorian silk, several yards of Pepper, way too much of Cannonballs, two crates of Crossbow bolts, half a crate of Mystery Island vegtables, Rider can't spell of Rum, not enough of Five gold necklaces, one with a pendant that might or might not be real diamond [glow=red,2,300]((Keng is right. ((*agrees with Cap'n about the exams* Thank god mine are over. And went well enough to ensure me free college education instead of the usual yearly fee of 5,000 bucks or so ^^ Bow down to mah 1337 English skills that got me 96 exam points. Just for general semi-offtopic info, braces are ropes that are used to turn the yards sideways to catch the wind. I s'pose technically it would be possible to sail with broken braces... as long as the wind doesn't turn x3))
Huntress was leaning on the rail, squinting at the ship and making a mental note of getting a spyglass on the next ship/port/any other sign of civilization. Then again, the ship was closing in fast, despite the lack of wind and...
"If a ship can sail that fast while lookin' like this, we're gonna need a lot of magic to get away from her," she muttered, more to herself though loud enough for the others to hear her. "Guys, ye've been to places. Ever seen anything like her?" That question was for the meepits who quickly boarded the Weewoo again, scowling at the grave-silent ship.
"What, you mean a gigantic ship that sails fast while each and every sail hangs slack, not even getting the wind that's supposed to arise while sailing fast?" Bob asked sarcastically. "I'm not a mastermind but I do believe I'd vaguely remember something like that."
"And I don't smell anyone aboard her but then again, there's no wind so it's no wonder," Bloody Mary added, trotting over the deck and bouncing to Tamia's shoulder. "Ell-lo and welcome aboard, I'm Bloody Mary!"
Huntress grinned. "He does that all the time. Push 'im off when he gets too annoyin'."
((Y'know what? This thread could use illustrations. Too bad I don't have the book that gave me the idea for that ship *ponders sketching something later*))

((Lol, an illustrated rp. Now THAT would be fun. OOoh, and we got lots o' pepper! Hooray! Our pepper shortages are a thing of the past!))
Komori looked wearily up from her position among the coils of rope. She hadn't been paying much attention to the captain, and wondered why the crew from the other ship had boarded. Funny, I didn't think pirates took prisoners, she thought. Well, it's fine as long as they don't be breaking anything.
The korbat looked at her captain with concern. She clearly had some sort of history with this approaching ship. And then there was that other strange girl. What sort of person can pursue a sail ship with a rowboat? Komori shook her head. Too many strange things were happening, and this was only their first day aboard the Weewoo.

Keng delayed only slightly in the order. She put her brains to work again and before long had realised that now that they had the crews of both ships, they could use another bag or two of food. So before swinging back over, she took a quick shift to her furry form (she was stronger and faster than way, and she did it out of sight so as not to frighten their guests) she popped down, grabbed some extra supplies, then swung over before the entire crew had transffered. No one seemed to of noticed the weird looking wolf in the rush, so she slipped aside and changed back, then jolted up the main mast to start working the ropes. Scallywag swooping in circles as she positioned herself for a fast fleeing. ((Illustrated RP? GAAHHH!! Don't get me thinking about it! I've got enough to do already! Exams, comics, other small art competitions online and so much more! Uhg.. it's to late.. images are rushing through my brain.. but no time for that.. musn't allow time for that! Must study... )

Tamia steered the small boat as close as she dared to the already steadily moving White Weewoo. She hardly had time to glance around the bottom of the vessel for anything she might have dropped from her shoulder-pack before clambering onto the ladder and letting the rowboat be swept dizzily off in the ship's countercurrent. No big loss to her as she had stolen the boat, but she did feel a twinge of regret at its loss. It was then that she saw the other ship out of the corner of her eye. With a start, she realized that it was heading straight for them. She began to feel her skin prickle nervously. She was wondered why, then suddenly saw that this limp-sailed ship was closing in on them like a shark, with no wind to speak of. Like it was being pushed by something from another world. She climbed faster.
As soon as she had stumbled over the railing and onto the deck, she looked up at Rider and stammered, "Umm... because I was looking for you?" And then she suddenly recognized the caped figure before her as the captain she'd heard about back at port. "Cap'n Rider -- I know magic, maybe I can help you and your crew..." Her 'knowing magic' was a little lie, but she'd clarify later. She turned to heave up the rope ladder behind her, and when she looked up again, Captain Rider was striding away to speak with the captain of the captured vessel. She'd have to talk later.
Tamia shot a grateful smile at the black-clad pirate. "I'll remember that," she said. She heard a tiny chatter from her pack and felt something from within moving and poking her in the back, but this was neither the time nor place. "What's going on?" she asked the pirate. "Is there anything I can do?"
((Yet another small furry pet to add to the fray... oh boy! ^^))

((Hey, furry pets are good. They give me a chance to be anywhere in the RP x3 'Sides, if we ever run out of ships to pillage, we can stop at the nearest port and open a petting zoo. Good money. Or distraction, whatever you prefer. And a promise is a promise...)) Bob's ears drooped as he examined the approaching ship. His nostrils twitched. Then he took several steps back. "I think I can smell something now," he declared. "And I seriously don't like it. This ship is... old. And too rotten to float... at least according to my nose. But not to my eyes, unless I'm losing my mind here..." ((Don't ask why the fore sails are transparent >.> Issa pen sketch, okay? My sketchbook is so old that erasing breaks the paper.))

Amy shrugged, and swung back over to the Weewoo. Then Amy peered over at Tamia and she waved to her cheerfully to her.
"Hey, there." she said, grinning, "Welcome aboard!" Then Amy headed down to the Store Room to arranged the food into categorys so the crew could choose what to eat easily. Before she climbed down the steps, she gave a nervous glance towards the approaching ship.

Zylaa, carrying an armload of pepper back to the ship, caught sight of the approaching ship as she heard the captain's order. She whimpered, dumped the pepper in the hold ((or wherever we're keeping supplies)), and retreated to her room.

They reached the north port of Mystery Island in record time.
"I think th' ship lost interest in us..." Rider whispered to the Krawkess. "Or it doesn't like ter get too close ter a port... or somethin'."
"Please tell me this isn't a nightmare," the Krawkess begged.
"Madam, if it be so, then it be not your nightmare," Rider said grimly. "Nay, a cap'n's supposed ter go down with her ship, an' see things through 'til the bitter end, ye see, an' I've forsook one ending fer another, when I'd no right ter choose." She stared out at the sea for a moment. "Madam, we'll drop the pirate-folk off here. What were ye doin' sailin' with that lot, anyway?"
"I was aboard a merchant vessel, looking for my father, and these men took me hostage. They were going to ransom me..."
"Consider yerself freed. I guess they wouldn't have gotten much gold from yer family anyway?" The Krawkess shook her head. "O'course not," Rider said to herself. "Nothin' left there, is there, but fer a few heirlooms and what. Miss, I think ye'll be safe as far away from the sea as ye can get. Meridell be a vast kingdom, prosperous and fine. Ye'll ne'er have ter lay eyes on a pirate again, 'cept when they be hanged at th' gallows. Ye'd like that?"
Tearfully, the Krawkess nodded.
"I'll make this cap'n brute pay fer a ship ter take ye there. The fastest ship 'is coin can buy. And ye'll be safe an' out o' this mess, and please put yer mind at ease. Stay far inland, lass, an' forget about all pirates, even me."
"I will... because I'm so tired of this."
"Ye, lass, have the right ter choose. Treasure it."
The Krawkess left, crying softly. The burning sunset reflected in the waves as a light, fast, and well-armed vessel carried her way from the lawless sea.
She turned to her crew. "Th' Purple Pawkeet be the cheapest inn 'round 'ere, at 2 reals. Th' Corsair be the second cheapest, at 5. The rum at both places is frankly sludge, though more colorful metaphors may apply. Do what ye like about town, but I don't want anyone sleepin' in the streets tonight. Fine way ter get yer throat slit, it is. Find an inn an' rent a room."

((Does this mean that we can't sleep on the ship? o0 Then again, bet the village is more interesting. And I imagine it as a decent krawkislandish one, not bamboo huts galore.))
"Mystery Island," Bob remarked, sitting on the railing and looking at the dark jungle right behind the village. The sun was setting and the streets weren't exactly crowded, but even those few cloaked figures were enough to help keeping Capn's advice in mind. "The home of coconut cocktails, cool Tombola prices and dancing konga all night long."
"And Ninjas," Huntress said, leaning against the rail as well.
"They rarely come this far north," Bob replied thouh his voice wasn't very confident.
Huntress shrugged. "Even if thay do, I'm plannin' to check this village out atleast fer a few hours. Bloody Mary, go get me bottle... and call Santa, ye three are comin' along." She looked at the others. "Anyone with me?"

[glow=red,2,300]((Sure, if you're nto scared of ghosts. ^_^ I hjest. If you want to sleep on the ship, I suppose you can. It's your neck, risk it if you like. And the huts are bambooish, but still sailors from all over Neopia come here. Most port cities are pretty diverse.))[/glow]
Rider headed into town, money burning a hole in her pocket. Hopefully there was a blacksmith around here who could make a cutlass that's not likely to fall apart from rust. She imagined the loot from the ships they had raided would be enough to keep them fed for quite a while, so there was no need to buy food. That's not to say it wasn't an option. Loud merchants advertised foods from all over Neopia, at low prices. Others sold jewelry and books and clothing. One particularly shady-looking Lupe was advertising a map which he claimed led to buried treasure.
Thieves, pickpockets, shady vendors, lawyers... all sorts of sketchy types hung out at these markets. A black-veiled woman watched the pirates with eyes like hot spears. Ventratta sunk a little lower into Rider's pocket. Rider picked up the pace and reached the blacksmith's house a little faster.
"What ye want, woman!" roared the blacksmith above the roaring of the flames. His brick house was like an oven.
"Ye make good cutlasses?"
"Th' best! Though ye don't look like ye could lift one o' me beauties."
"Less talk an' more forgin'," Rider said, setting down her doubloon. "I'll be back in the mornin' to pick me new cutlass up. An' ye'd better not be lyin' when ye say ye're the best."
She headed to the Purple Pawkeet, grumbling about "stupid men."

"Mystery Island, eh?" Komori peered over the railing to gaze at the jungled landscape. "Full of all sorts o' unsavory fellows, no doubt. I'd rather chop off me own tail than wander these dusty streets at night. Though I suppose with those li'l guys," she nodded to the Meepits, "There'd be nothin' to worry 'bout." She considered for a moment. "Sure, I'll go wit' ye, Huntress. Me stomache's feelin' too queasy to sleep much anyway."
The Korbat knew she'd be safe with such company on those dark streets. Even still, she stored her earrings in her room and tucked her trusty hammer into her sash. Better safe than sorry.

Amy hurried up next to Komori, popping a small part of a loaf of bread into her mouth as she did so.
"I'd be joining ye, Komori 'n' Huntress. I'd rather not wander these streets alone." Amy announced. She pondered and said, "We should take a look at some o' these inns, too.. And maybe pick up a drink at that pub Cap'n Rider mentioned." She jingled her pockets. The reals and the dubloon clinked in her pocket.
Then Amy rummaged in her leather pouch, and slotted some bullets into her old pistol. She was thinking the same as Komori, better safe than sorry...
