Grats Puffin! ^^ And for some reason this caught my eye: Which means there's more than one of them! =) Then they wouldn't be overworked so much. Speaking of non-traditional poems, I wrote a rather weird one some time back. I don't remember if I resubmitted it though. I'll just wait to see what happens to my heldovers first... don't want to add to TNT's workload. D=
Splash! The float hits the water— And the race begins.
Whoosh! The wave’s smooth beneath you— And the wind is swift.
Gloop! A strange mystery current— And the world spirals.
Zup! A stay dart approaches— And it flies away.
Blip! You pass through a checkpoint— And the points add up.
Score! A nice bonus point there— And you take a grab.
Whee! A great silver cascade— And the sky is still.
Yay! The cheers ring out victory— And it’s all over.

@diana: Short and sweet, that's what I always say It's good for the Poetry Contest, it's not like they're looking for epics (imagine a Neopian Odyssey or Iliad? XDDD) @puffin: WAY TO GO! That's awesome. Did you submit anything for a holiday that's coming up...? That's probably what they're talking about. Although, with the Poetry Contest, you never know XD

XD No. Just the Grey Day poem and that other one, which wasn't aimed at anything in particular. I hope this year's joke isn't giving held-overs to everyone who enters the poetry contest XD

I love it! All the little sounds included. I once tried something along those lines with a poem about Chia Clowns, but I'm afraid it was lost to endless holdovers.
I did wake up to four holdover mails though, which was nice, because mail always is and I felt special. -beams-
Of course, I forget what I sent in. Oops.
Diana, your Draik poem is so prettyful!

I got a heldover letter, too! *dances around* Congrats on your four holdovers, Sky ^_^ I guess ours must be for Grey Day, Puffin. That seems like the best bet.

Awww, thanks, Sky and Pyro! My NT short story got held over. *is overjoyed* That means I have to write my series, though. Hmmm. I got 3 held-over mails on that day where everyone was getting them. So far, one's actually won the PC, so I don't think it's a joke.
Edit: Also, TNT likes its jokes to affect all the players. Very few users are both literate and enter the Poetry Contest, so the joke itself is unlikely; most people would be like, Was there a joke this year?, or What's an acceptance?

I think maybe the holdovers are just coming faster since the backlog was cleared out. -Nods-
Hey, no complaints on my behalf! LOL.

Well, I got the holdovers before the database was cleared. I think they just grabbed all the ones they really liked before clearing.

I wrote this in about 20 minutes. I hate you, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. [-.-;] A figure sits hunched over, Staring dismally ahead, Torn dress offering little cover, From the storm coming from the West.
She sighs and looks around her, Her wings twitching faintly, The wings she holds are greyer And more broken than any other Faerie's.
The storm comes, and releases it's all, Adding more fuel to the raging sea, She watches the lightening as it falls, Crackling and roaring as it's freed.
A faint smile grows on her lips, As her hands rest on her hips, And though most any other creatures Would be dashing away for shelter, This Faerie's usually sad features Give off a small smile to the twister.
A twister raging at sea, As everything seems to go grey, Makes this lone Faerie happy As happy as she can be.
She sits back down on the jutting stone cliff, And watches the storm go. It passes over quickly, Leaving little proof to show.
But even after the storm's gone, This Faerie's smile remains. For this day of storms, Was one of her favourite days.
"What better way to spend my day?" She thinks to herself, That thought accompanied by a chuckle One unheard by most.
This day is for the grey, This day is for the sad. This is the one day in Neopia, Where the grey are truly glad.
Glad that they are grey, And glad that are were sad, For on Grey Day, Those are celebrated things to have.
The greyness, one day, may fade away, And sadness will surely go, But this day in Neopian history shall remain, With all it's grey glow.
So celebrate this day, And be happy for the grey, Because on this one day of the year, The grey can smile clear.
Yay for long poems! xD;

My goodness, such a long poem! I hope it gets in. I loved the four last verse, the repeat use of "This day is for the..." I wrote a Grey Day poem, but I'm not sure if it's up to par. Grey is a popular day, I suspect!
Did anyone notice we're over the halfway mark heading towards the next 100th poetry gallery! I hope there is some beautiful work to re read this year, I look forward to seeing the selection each year.

I hope there is some beautiful work to re read this year, I look forward to seeing the selection each year. *Twitch-twitch*... *Passes-out* xD Thank you. That means a lot coming from a Poetry Gallery legend. Oooh! We are? I wonder if there'll be a special Poetry Gallery of the best they can find... or something. xD Yeah, I like to use repetition in lots of my poems. I really did it for my Sophie the Swamp Witch poem -- which is slightly outdated now... Sophie, dear Sophie, so misunderstood, Sophie, dear Sophie, lives alone in the Woods. A small Meowclops is her only companion, It watches her work, it's head usually slanted. It watches her look through odd bottles and vials, Not knowing what's next, it simply smiles. Sophie mutters odd words, From times long past, And the liquids spin, Rising in a flash; The liquids float there, suspended in mid-air, The Meowclops just blinks, And continues it's stare. Sophie moves to her cauldron, And lets them fall, Into the cauldron they go, The liquid gives contrast. The cauldron's contents swirl and rush, Frothing and glowing, humming in hush. Now a new potion has been completed, And Sophie can rest, Before going back to work, To make it it's best. Sophie's skill never fails, Never has she lost, For she is Sophie the greatest, And Sophie's the boss.
A bit old, and in need of a rewriting... xD Edit: I had resubmitted my Sophie the Swamp Witch poem, and then submitted my Grey Day poem about... meh, 3 days or so later. Maybe more. But anyways, I got a held-over Neomail a few days ago, which means they either held-over my Sophie poem again ('cause it was held-over 'til the database clearing), or they're holding-over my Grey Day poem. Either way, it's awesome. x) Edit #3: I removed the poem to put in another post, along with my redo of Sophie is.... Hope that's not a problem. xD

Oh, there is. Every 100th they select the best... I think it's twenty? Or something? From the year and have a special (I think you can only be in it once, however)
If anyone wants to correct me on that, please do!
LOL! My old Chia Clown one was in today! I remember trying to make it very scary when I wrote it.
