Dalion tried not to take offense from this wolf. He had always seen everyone as an enemy, it was hard to see this wolf as a fellow wanderer, a possible friend. "I've come to call this vale home," he replied levelly. "Many seem to avoid it" -he smiled slightly at that- "and you are the first wolf I have encountered here for many moons."

"I avoid nothing, excepting for humans. They are untrustworthy. If this is indeed your home, I will not intrude on it for long.

Dalion shook his head. "Stay as long as you wish. I may call these lands home, but they are not closed off to fellow wolves."

"That is good to know. I have traveled far, and do not know whether I would be up to leaving here. My leg is reacting to the cold, and aches constantly."

Dalion's brow furrowed in what might have been sympathy, but after a moment he caught himself and looked away. The sun was nearly gone from the sky, nestled in its own embers; banished by the moon, rising to take her throne amongst some scattered stars. A thought ventured toward Dalion, and was met by an abrupt wall. Dalion turned back to Twilight. He did not speak, however; he was waiting, but whether he was waiting for himself to open his jaw or Twilight, he could not say.
