Brandon found the excuse acceptable, and let her go to the kitchens.
Ah well.
Then he saw an unahppily familiar sight.
GWEN.
His stomach churned and he swore he saw red. That dirty little gossiping-
His thoughts stopped short as he saw her duck behind a pillar.
She wants gossip, huh?
She'll get it.
She'll get it alright.
Brandon followed Marie.
The Daily Double, he thought. He sees what Marie is up to and can extract revenge outta Gwen. Now he can blackmail her. One word out of her and the pictures will be all over the school.
Perfect.

While the house-elves proceeded to surround Brandon as he came in, Marie had made her way over to Crai. She tapped the house-elf on the shoulder and Crai jumped.
"Oh, it is only you, Miss Keaves. You be wanting information, miss? Tea? Ingredients?" The house-elf's hopeful eyes met Marie's.
"Information'll be fine, Crai. And maybe a package of Cauldron Cakes for later." She smiled. Crai and her were good friends, and the young house-elf was quite useful for a few things. Marie realized something, though. Brandon was here and would likely want to know what the favor of a friend would be. She whispered to Crai instructions to tell no one about the following things and to send her a note with detailed instructions to private get-aways other than Myrtle's bathroom. She also instructed the house-elf to send her a package of Cauldron Cakes with that note. Cauldron Cakes were Marie's favorite.

"EEYAAAH!"
Brandon shouted as he was amassed by house elves.
"Would you like something sir?"
"Do you need help sir?"
The house elves squeaked.
Yeah... breahting room... thought Brandon.
"No, nothing, really..."
The house elves were persistent.
"A butterbeer, ok? And PLEASE leave me alone..." he begged.
As the house elves swarmed away, he caught sight of Gwen, trailing him.
"Two can play THAT game..."
Brandon rushed off to his common room for the cloak. Retireving it, he returned, hoping the others hadnt already left.

Marie wanted to leave as soon as possible... but... she was a bit hungry... She stuffed her pockets (as well as her face) with many sweets, cakes, and butterbeers as humanly possible. Suddenly, she saw some movement in the shadows of the kitchens. She quickly walked over to them and took out her wand, whispering "Lumos", and pointing her wand into the shadows.

Brandon searched avidly for Gwen.
"Come out, come out, where-"
He saw Marie's wand.
Dang.
He backed slowly away towards the door.
Please... let me... make it... he pleaded.

Marie's wand tip pressed against something squishy that felt a bit like human flesh under fabric. Keeping her wand out, Marie lept in front of her to see what this thing was. It couldn't be Peeves... he would've made mischeif by now if it were Peeves. And... it definitely couldn't be a ghost...
She caught that something in front of her and squeezed hard, trying to not let go if this...thing tried to get away.

*ahem* I was sort of hidden in the shadows, IDL...and if you have an invisibility cloak, I should at least be able to hide in shadows, but .... *shrugs*
IC:
Gwen saw Marie give some whispered instructions. Gwen frowned; she was an excellent lip-reader, but Marie's hand was over her mouth. Gwen saw Brandond there as well, glance a few inches to the left of her head, and leave quietly. Darn. This is not going to be pretty. Gwen thought, particularily annoyed at this sneak's thoughtlesness. Gwen decided to pay more attention to where Brandon had been. She figured he'd be back, no doubt having stolen one of her toffees.
A few minutes later, Gwen saw the door open, and close quietly again. It was obviously somebody, somebody with Gwen's special toffees. Wait a second...there's a binding seal on my toffees; anybody who steals one will have it instantly turn into one of Fred and George's nosebleed toffees. So, it must be somebody - Brandon - with.... Gwen just stood there for a second with her mouth wide open where and how on earth would Brandon get an invisibility cloak? Those things were expensive! Gwen shook her head; it probably wasn't Brandon, just some other rich person who had either bought her toffees or an invisibility cloak who wanted to snitch food.
Either way, Marie turned around to investigate, and began poking around. Gwen stared, mouth open again. It must be the same person here as in the bathroom! Why else would Marie be so curious? Gwen was determined now. She beckoned a house-elf to come closer, and she told it to go over to where Marie was poking and see what it felt, and, if possible, try to peel off whatever "protective layer" was surrounding it, as Gwen didn't want to sound as if she was entirely jumping to conclusions.
The house-elf charged, and Gwen smiled from a distance.

*ahem* I was sort of hidden in the shadows, IDL...and if you have an invisibility cloak, I should at least be able to hide in shadows, but .... *shrugs* (( Sigh. What's done is done. )) Marie held on tight to what felt like a human body, and saw one of the house-elves charging toward her. I hope they're here to help. she thought, still grasping the body. But... who would've given orders to a house-elf if she had been busy holding this body down. Ah well, this wasn't really something to worry about at the momment. What she needed to discover was who...or what... this obviously invisible thing was... She struggled to keep a hold on the...thing.

Brandon's mind held one thought:
CRAP!!!!
Let go of me you dirty - he thoguht, squirming away.
Then he noticed the house elf.
Yup.
I'm done for.
Then, an idea sparked off in his head. If only the cloak held...
Brandon curled himslef as tight as he could, transformed and let out an almighty roar.
"GGRRRRRRRRRAAAAWWWWWWWWWWKKKKKKKKK!!!!"

OOC: I didn't see through it, I noticed that the door opened and closed and nothing came through, so it must be somebody invisible. And probably you, but then remembered that tons of people steal food from the kitchens. Anyway, we at least head the roar, we don't know what it is.
IC:
Gwen heard an unidentified roar. Oh crap. This is not going to be pretty. Something seriously bad is going to happen. You didn't have to be a divination expert to figure out that nothing that sounded like that was supposed to be in a Hogwart's kitchen. This is definitely not cool. Gwen simply sucked one of her toffees, and shrunk back even smaller in the shadowy wall.

Marie's eyes grew larger as she felt this invisible thing become a bit bigger. It no longer felt human... And then, she heard the roar. She would've let go, but for some reason her fear kept her holding on tight. Or maybe that was her curiosity. The fact that it had felt human before this got her thinking. This might be an animagus... If only she could make this thing visible...

OOC: Can I jump in? A little late, but I read the posts...
Name: Mercy Nicknames: None Gender: Female Age: 13 House: Ravenclaw... Quidditch position: She doesn't play Broom: None (yet) Favorite Class: Defense Against the Dark Arts Least Favorite: Um... Well, she doesn't like Herbology or Potions Best Class: None in particular Worst Classes: Herbology Wand: 7 inches, phoenix feather and... *thinks* willow? Pets: Two cats: Black (named Lune) and Tabby (named Mya) Personality: Quite intelligent. She's not incredibly shy, but not talkative either. Very sarcastic. Looks like: Very short. Dirty blonde hair (fairly long), HUGE glasses (as in, covers most of her face) and her bangs are quite long, too. Green-gold eyes. Bio: Mercy's mother was a witch, but her father was a Muggle... She didn't know she was a witch until she was ten - she went to a Muggle school. Although she is a third year, she's not too great with magic.
IC: The corridors were nearly pitch black. If it weren't for a lonely torch on the wall, Mercy wouldn't have been able to see where she was going. Even the moon was dim.
"A beautiful night, perfect for sneaking," she said softly to Lune, who was curled up on her left shoulder. "We'll see what's happening in a moment."
A small figure ahead drew her attention. "So, Mya has confirmed my suspicions..." She continued walking down the hall and finally came to the kitchens.
Mercy reached for the torch, having to jump before getting it. She pushed open the door and gasped at the sound.
"What the..." Worse than she had thought.

Gwen cursed again. Another person had just come in. Right, that Mercy, who was always jumping in on everything, and didn't have much life. (OOC: Hey, Gwen is mean)
Even somebody as ... out of it as Mercy should be able to understand the situation. Somebody or something weird in the room, possible under that cloak, as Marie was looking and holding the weird thing rather oddly, as if something had happened because of that weird roar. Not to mention the House Elf that had charged at the thing under the cloak, and Gwen invisible. Well, the one thing Gwen didn't have to worry about was being noticed; she loved her inventions.
Gwen decided to make this as quick as possible. SHe swept silently to right beside Mercy, and with a hand over Mercy's mouth and a quick shove, she pushed Mercy out of the room. SHe shut the door. Good deed count tonight....1 Gwen thought.

OOC: It's okay, she DOESN'T have a life XD
IC: Merci blinked. Either that thing that had screeched had pushed her out, or some other being. Must have been a third thing - it felt definitely human.
This time, she looked through a crack in the door and watched from there. Unfortunately, the last person had not shut the door all the way and the slight weight on the door (since she was leaning against it) pushed it open. She fell on the ground, her glasses sliding away from her.
"Ow. Now I can't see, great."
