"Life's like that. Here...the game is about angles for the most part... the stick's a big angle really."

"Okay," said Fire, still a little intimidated but overall excited. After all, this might be the gateway to a new life!

Denver clears the balls off a table and puts one on.
"Alright suppose you're trying to get this here 2 ball into the side pocket. It forms a right angle. so you postion the stick to hit the white ball in hopes the momentum will transfer into the right pocket. Get it?"

Fire exhales, then aims carefully. The ball shot forward, then hit the side of the pool table right near the pocket.
"Close, I guess," he breathes.

"Hey you was close no?" Denver grunted as he placed another ball on a diagnial area. "Alright this is just easy. If you aim right this ball will go straight foward into the right corner pocket. Like so," Denver demonstrated asd he sent the 10 ball into the corner pocket.

"Okay."
Fire takes the ball and places it in the same place where it had been before. He takes the stick and shoots it into the pocket.
"There," Fire says with a small, crooked smile.

Denver lets a small wry smile appear on his lips. "Alright now try this."
He sets the ball in the same exact postion except for it's on the other side.

Fire hesitates, then hits the ball. Surprisingly for Fire, it hits one side of the table and goes into the pocket.

"A'right that's 3 corners down, three to go," Denver mutters to himself as he paces to the other side of the pool table and sets up the same shot for the left pocket.

Aeri sits on a chair in the bar, draining her fourth bottle of beer. She looks over at Fire and Denver playing, then looks over at Deryck, who is nervously twitching. "I'm not supposed to be here..." he says uneasily, looking at Aeri, who wipes her mouth with the back of her hand.
"Well you were the one who asked to be here..." Aeri rolls her eyes. "You begged me to come 'ere."
