So, I just stumbled across the 3D program Google SketchUp. It's free, it's multi-platform (Mac, Windows, and it can run under Linux with Wine), and it looks pretty easy and flexible… I haven't actually used it yet, but I saw a movie that showed a house being made in it and it looked pretty neat. So, I was thinking those interested could use it to make maps of guild bases, or at least basic outlines/shells, in 3D. (With input from the guilds, of course.) Could be a good way to solidify what the different bases look like, inside and out. It could be good fun practice for anyone who'd like to learn to use a 3D program like this. If applicable, it shouldn't be hard for two people to share a file and both work on it. I think it's mostly for buildings and similar structures, but I think it'll work with the Weewoo. If nothing else, Spacefleet would look good in 3D. What do you guys think? The System requirements are here, for those interested.

Wow, I had no idea that sort of thing existed outside of massive graphics programs. I'd love to give it a try but I have no clue what Mage Manor would look like.

I don't know what it looks like, either. I picture a mansion of sorts with at least three floors (probably four). I'm wondering about different wings. The library is on the third-or-fouth floor (whichever is top) and Omni's room on the floor below it… Something that occurred to me is that we never talk about the attic of the Manor. And like I said, there would have to be collaberation with the guild members to figure out what they're like as a whole. And the one(s) working SketchUp wouldn't need to work on the building of a guild they're in, although it makes sense for them to.

Something that occurred to me is that we never talk about the attic of the Manor. Why? Is that where you keep your dead bodies? *BRICK'D* What my imagination tells me SF would look like is kinda an enormous project o.0

Well I think that's a great idea. Merc HQ would be fairly simple, until we add in the underground features. The Knight's castle, would be a bit harder. Spacefleet, exceptionally difficult. I am interested to see the Ninja's and Mage's bases. I've always wondered what Mage Manor looks like.

It could make a good subject for an RP or story, though. One step at a time…

Ikkin has a tower somewhere and the first level must be huge, having most of the main halls in it...

It is a really good idea, if labour intensive and requiring a lot of imput from the actual guilds themselves. And an actual agreement on what the bases look like (Do we have an offical look for Mage Manor or does it change to suit our needs? xD And does Spacefleet want to reveal their secrets?). But yeah, I like the idea.
If I have time I would certainly contribute. ^^

Not in 3D, but I have sketched out some basic maps of the Ninja Dojo and the Merc HQ before. XD Not sure how accurate, but... Ninja DojoMerc HQ, ground levelOne could reference those were they to try designing the places in the three of the D, if they wanted to of course.

I always imagined Mage Manor as a huge Hogwarts-like castle, but I've never really had a clear idea where is everything. So in that mindset, it would be impossible for me to map, but I'd be really interested in seeing what other mages picture it like. ^^

[glow=red,2,300]Why do I have the feeling that the pirates will have the easiest time of it? XD *probably has the smallest base*[/glow] I don't xD Because 1) I haven't even figured out what type of ship the Weewoo is (she's brigantine rigged, but that's also the end of it, she's far too big to be an actual brigantine, and has a poop deck; I tend to draw her like a galleon) and 2) the inside of a ship is messy business I'm so not familiar with. There's limited space and I've no idea what most of our rooms are or where they might be. Heck, I think our galley is sometimes put above deck and sometimes below deck in the RPs. ...yeah, good plan there, I should really draw a Weewoo cross-cut and some supplementing blueprints one day. But it'll take some researching (you can't just fit rooms wherever you want on a ship, for starters, presumed weight distribution has to be taken into account, and so on and so forth.) Mage Manor is Hogwarts-sized? o__o I always thought of it as, well, a manor, those places are maybe three stories high over here and you can walk around one in five minutes. Actually, here's a place I could imagine looking similar to Mage Manor, from what I've figured it looks like. Minus the cheesy fountains, most probably x'D Man, now I really wish I was good at concept art. I'd be glad to draw all guild bases over an insanely long period of time x'D if I had a better idea of what they look like on the outside.

XD *probably has the smallest base*[/glow] I don't xD Me neither, if only for the reason that I'm not sure how the front curve would be handled. (I still haven't opened SketchUp, so I don't know how it works, yet.) Minus the cheesy fountains, most probably x'D Yeah, that's not too far off from what I was picturing, externally. I picture the roof would probably be something like a deep blue or purple, though. Maybe a dark-ish red. I still picture it bigger than the average manor, though. Not Hogwarts-sized, that's overkill. Maybe a little wider than that picture from the front. From the side… well, longer than than it is wide, maybe something like twice the length. Yeah, the similarities to Hogwarts have still had an effect on my mental image.

I have a floor plan of three-masted, full rigged ship as well as a sail and rigging plan. This is the ship upon which I was a trainee for five days so I know a little of how it works. I could scan the plans in and send them too you if you'd like?

I could scan the plans in and send them too you if you'd like? A floor plan would be highly appreciated :3 I got the sail and rigging plan pretty much set in stone (apart from drawing the Weewoo with a varying number of foresails) although if you happen to have brigantine rigging plans, those would come in handy as well. I usually work on the terminology of three-masted, square-rigged ships so I'm not entirely sure how the terms change for two-masted and halfway fore-and-aft rigged ships.
