Goosh's Nano II: Inkling

So last year was a resounding failure, what with me falling behind after the first few days and then the computer breaking. But I have a good feeling about this year.

Not much to go on yet. Still happily hammering out ideas and characters and settings. But watch this space. :3

Anyways. Inkling. Basic notes.

CHARACTERS

Name: Benjamin Frost
Age: 15
Appearance: A slim, tall teenager. Messy brown hair and brown eyes. Not pale, but not tan.
Summary: Benjamin would very much like to be like everyone else. Graduate from the dorms, get an Inkling, get a job, live his life. He's somewhat self-centered, in that anything not catering to him or his interests usually goes under his radar. He's helpful enough. A life in the dorms has taught him to value anything given to him, and never to share with anyone remotely untrustworthy.

Unfortunately, in a freak accident, Benjamin did not receive his Inkling as planned. Confused and lonely, he flees the dorms that night and eventually falls into a gang led by a mysterious woman with a hatred for Inklings.

Name: Sheila putlastnamehere
Age: 15
Appearance: Black hair, green eyes, a little chubby, has a pretty smile which she thinks is ugly.
Summary: Sheila is a secret child--someone whose parents did not give up to the dorms. Raised in a small cottage on the outskirts of a farming village, Sheila has grown up with different values than the 95% percent of the population that spent their childhoods in dorms.

On her fifteenth birthday, Sheila wakes up to find she has an Inkling--a magical tattoo that dorm children get when they come of age. The same day, she is discovered by the village and run out of town.

She wends her way to the city, looking to meet a wizard who has studied Inklings for his entire life. Unfortunately for her, the city isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Name: Natasha seriouslyineedtocomeupwithlastnames
Age: 20
Appearance: Tall, rather thin, with striking blue eyes. Long, dirty blonde hair always tied back into a long braid down her back. Wears a cap.
Summary: Natasha was rescued from the dorms at age fourteen by the leader of a gang. They both agreed that the government forcing parents to give their children to dorms was wrong, and they began collecting a family of sorts. Children who managed to escape the dorms were given a place to live and a sense of family.

After they had rescued more than half a dozen children, the gang's leader was killed. The gang disbanded then, but Natasha and a few others stayed and kept up their predecessors work, recruiting escapees and street kids. When Natasha finds Benjamin, she takes him to the gang and offers to let him in. Though Benjamin really just wants a place to stay until he can get an Inkling and lead a normal life, he agrees.

PLOT OUTLINE

--Ben graduates. Goes to Inkwell, where kids get inklings. Steps in, nothing happens. Headmaster of dorms hushes the whole thing up. That night, Ben decides to flee the dorms.

--Sheila wakes up on fifteenth birthday with Inkling. Freaks out, parents calm her down and keep her in attic, because they have company. Sheila is found out. Run out of town that evening, Sheila hears about a wizard who studies Inklings and decides to travel to the city.

--Next day, Benjamin tries his hand at stealing food and is caught. He is discovered to not have an Inkling and flees. He is saved from detection by a woman named Natasha who takes him back to her hideout in an abandoned building. There he meets the gang.

Oooh, I like it! Potentially corrupt powerful organizations are made of win. And I want to know more about Inklings. And I think you should keep Shelia's last name as putlastnamehere. ^__^
