Going to try this for the very first time! =D So for now I only have one idea but it is a nice one. Kind of satirises writing etiquette as well as perhaps having traces of spy parody in there. All novel characters live in an interconnected world, a world which they call their own. However to keep up the utopia of the world, strict measures have been taken up to prevent any Mary Sue from coming into the utopia. It all works fine until one day, a perfectly normal, well-developed character named Marie Hunter somehow triggers the alarm and is identified as a Mary Sue. Trusting the alarm, she is denied access to the utopia.
There she meets a crowd of exiled Sues who despite their sweet appearance, are bitter at their exile. They plan to overthrown the utopia and turn it into their own. Marie must now get tangled in a dangerous web of double-agency and have to write her own fate as well as that of the whole utopia without becoming a Sue herself.
Nothing is written. Name: Marie Gloria Hunter
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Species: 100% human.
Apperance: Dark brown hair with green eyes, pale skin, roundish face, thin-rimmed glasses, a medium-length ponytail, always wears a blue turtleneck with a stitched snowflake pattern and jeans completing the outfit with brown leather shoes. Silver necklace with a moonstone but it is just there to look pretty. Marie isn't really that special in terms of appearance.
Personality: Jumpy, shy, slightly clueless, sweet, carefully optimistic, casual, giggly, "normal", pacifist, responsible, very easily scared, borderline Obsessive Compulsive, compassionate.
Likes: Books, peace and quiet, being on her own, animals, justice, order, being warm, coffee, plushies, classical music, being comfy, people showing her kindness, being appreciated, cookies, Sherlock Holmes, Beethoven.
Dislikes: The writer which wrote her (in-novel), flying, Mary Sue characters, chaos, herself, crowds, social occasions, rap, being sick, people not liking her, violence, fish.
Hobbies: Writing, reading, horse-riding, listening to classical music, watching old movies, learning,
Skills: Some writing skills, can ride a horse when it is trotting but no faster, learning to play the piano, weak runner,
Dreams of: One day resting away from any writer, to just be herself.
Backstory: Marie was born on the 24th August, 1991 in London, England but was originally concieved as a character by the writer of a terrible teenage romance novel in 2004. Her parents were just normal people; her father worked in an office and her mother ran a small shop. Her childhood was perfectly normal, save for her parent's divorcing when she was eight. Since then, she lived with her mother. But all this did not really happen to her, at least not officially.
The novel of which Marie was a character only began being written in 2005, which is where her story began. In school at the age of 14, she befriended a new kid, the protragonist of the terrible novel. At first she liked the girl a lot but as the novel progressed, a horrible transformation took over her friend; she turned into a Mary Sue, much to Marie's horror. Soon the plot unravelled, the characters became bland including even Marie. She hated being a shallow, nerd-type character created to make the Mary Sue look good. Eventually, a hatred of all Mary Sues grew in her heart. She longed to be free and to do what she wanted to instead of what she was written to do. Like all the characters who hated their new personas, she clung onto all the development she got in the beginning. I
By some miracle the novel was at last published in 2008, after 1 and a half years of chasing editors by the novelist. Marie never thought it would be a great success but by then she didn't care, she had a life of her own. Looking forward to going to the utopia, Marie at last went there. But the journey wasn't over for her. [art coming soon]
Random fact: I thought up of this when I was coming home from school and thinking of my character's from "Lies, Betrayed and the Opressed" Mary Sue test stats. xD

XD That sounds pretty awesome. Satire is the best, and a bunch of Mary Sues in an attempted takeover sounds like a lot of fun.

Yay, and official board and all! =D Sounds like it'll be pretty awesome. xD Yep, I'm serious about this. >3 Hopefully it will be. xD Thanks Kathkitty! ^^ XD That sounds pretty awesome. Satire is the best, and a bunch of Mary Sues in an attempted takeover sounds like a lot of fun. xD Thanks Zylaa. Yeah, this will be quite fun to write considering that most of my characters have Mary Sue-ish tendancies and I want to see how many lampshades I can hang on it. Call it a dare if you will. x3 EDIT: Marie has picture! =D

I've delveloped another idea (or not, this one is pretty old. xD) and though Sutopia is my first choice, this one might win. Stay tuned! ^^ There is a girl living a perfectly normal life, she is just your average teen aside from the fact that every night, she dreams clearly and vividly of a girl who looks like her but is completely different. That girl is in a fantasy world populated by dragons and creatures like that. She is on a D&D style adventure and it turns out that the fantasy girl has dreams about the normal girl. As the other's story progresses through the dreams of each one of them, it becomes harder to tell who is dreaming about the other.
In the end, both are jerked back into reality. It turns out that they were both on a colony ship with the revolutionary technology that allows the colonists to be kept in suspended animation and to live normally but in a computer simulation. They can choose either real or fantasy lives but both the circuitry of the two twin girls accidentally overlapped and each one seemed to be having dreams about the other. That is if I figure out what is going on with my account on NaNo. O____o

Antagonist's profile for Sutopia. With the ready flow of ideas coming for it, I think this is the novel I will write for my NaNo. Name: Me-go Darcy Starbright
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Species: Human/Werewolf hybrid
Appearance: Mi-Go is exceptionally beautiful with long flowing amber hair that reaches down to her thighs. In it there are gold stripes which flash like the sun. They match her usually topaz eyes that change colour with her mood. Her face is sculpted and near-perfect with full ruby lips and smooth cheekbones that compliment her really nice nose (yes, I am writing a parody description of a Mary Sue already). She wears a dress that is cut away to reveal her long legs and dark high heels on which she walks like a dancer. Everything about her is cat-like and graceful. She is accompanied by three doves and a wolf.
Oh and she hates all normal characters. xD
Personality will be made up on the spot on account of Mary Sue character. x3

I like them both- but I have to say my favourite of the two would be Sutopia. Either way, though, I'll be staying tuned.

For all my updates (or lack of thereof. x3) I have been thinking about this. I've got the opening and rejection all planned out in my head as well as the first meeting of the Mary Sues that Marie attends. I'm also drafting an escape scene in my mind and have a vague idea of the climax but all the rest will either have to be made up on the spot or planned in between writing. This is shaping up to be a fun first NaNo... and who knows, maybe it will be published and I'll earn some much-needed cash. =3 I like them both- but I have to say my favourite of the two would be Sutopia. Either way, though, I'll be staying tuned. Yeah, that is probably the one I'll be doing. ^^ Watch this space Azzie.

I should have seen this earlier. I love this plot. ...Love the other one too, but I think I like them almost equally. I hope you do the other one too some time. <3 BUT. There should be more books with these types of plots out there. Seriously, maybe I'm just not finding them... but I would so read a book like this. Can't wait to see the finished Nano. ^_~

I will most likely try and get this NaNo published since I need the money but either way, the NTWF will get a sneak preview.

It has been two hours since I began my NaNo. Already at 1000 words, I have just described the creation of the world of characters and not even introduced my protagonist. This is basically just a little backstory to explain how this world was formed and the origins of Mary Sues. I am also introducing a character which will be very useful later in the story.
I also did my first NaNo dare. <3 (The black forest gateaux one) This is going to be fun despite the fact that it is one of the most ambitious projects I have ever undertaken and will require massive editing. Not to mention the fact that to reach 50,000 I'm going to have to be gratuitous with the description. xD
So yeah, fun.

I have completed my quota for the first day and at this moment in time my NaNo stands at 1806 words. It is a pretty mad prologue, explaining the history of the utopia and providing some plot points for later in the novel.
So far I hate it but hey, NaNo is not about producing a perfect work of art all at once. xD *slaps inner editor*

2 Nov, 2008, 1:04am That's two NTWF dares in one chapter, people. ^_^ I had major block after I got to the part where Marie is talking about her past but now that is over. Done my quota for today so after I sleep I can focus on revising for a french test. Marie was coming close and she knew it. It called to her like a homing signal that she could instinctively pick up. Soon her troubles will be over as she would escape her stupid writer who wrote as if she had no perception of quality or simply did not care. Marie shivered as she remembered her friend’s transformation from a normal, sweet character into a Mary Sue that seemed to cast a spell on everyone she knew and bend them to her every whim. Marie also felt her own essence manipulated by her writer, trying to turn her into a lesser character than her friend and remove her soul, the thing that made her a character that was worth it. Bravely she resisted like a rock resists the waves but by the writer’s pen she fell.
However, her core personality did not die. Marie acted out the parts that were written for her but stopped her from falling down the slippery slope to Suedom, like her friend and all around her. However, the experience was not pleasant for her; to have your fundamental personality traits tweaked against your will was like having a vulture try to pull out your heart and tear it apart. Most characters would rather succumb to their writer’s will than suffer such torture but Marie did not want to become like her friend so instead she steeled her will and sat through it, knowing that in the end she would be released and go to the utopia of characters, where she would be free like a butterfly coming out of its cocoon. Furthermore, her so called friend would never bother her again and Marie will not have to bend to her every whim. Her friend was just an extension of the writer; she was what her author could never be.
Marie smiled, glad that it was all behind her now. She was coming closer to the legendary gates of Heen that shone like a sea sprinkled with ships. Their iron curls blended well with the silvery bars that stood as sentinels, guarding the entrance from any hostile presence. Between them there seemed to be nothing but air yet the electrical storm of a shimmer betrayed a greater magic, the magic that separated the wheat from the chaff. It kept the haven a place for characters to be safe in, from hatred and from attacks by Sues. The magic of the gates called out to her, warming Marie’s heart and for the first time in her life, she was glad that the horror of a book was finally released into the wild. Adjusting her blue sweater, she walked towards the gates, stopping to let crowds of other characters pass before her. Marie did not want their entrance to the haven delayed because of her.
As she approached the gate, Marie’s eyes took in every single carved detail of it. A sign hung on it that said ‘Epic Equipment please do not use’. Flowers curled around the gate as if holding it up while birds sat on top of it, watching all who came in with a beady eye. One of these birds, a crow or perhaps a raven, fluttered down and came to rest on Marie’s shoulder. She never felt so special in her life. Even the local birds seemed to welcome her. Slowly she walked towards the gate, her leather shoes only making the slightest noise as if humbled by the momentous occasion. Not even the guy in leathers riding a motorbike named Tomc could distract her from her reverence of the gate. Out of the corner of her eye the crowd of characters seemed to freeze as he rode by, much to their annoyance. Marie did not really care as she finally reached the gate and heard it crackle with magic. Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the force field.
Pain blinded her. It seemed to tear into Marie’s flesh and go through her soul. She gritted her teeth and pressed ahead but nothing happened. The field was preventing her from going in, pushing her away. All the while her soul felt as if it was being altered against her will, just like her writer once tried to do. Marie panicked and writhed in the stinging claws of the force-field, desperate to get out. Finally, the gate had enough. It spat Marie out at the feet of all the other characters. She simply lay there, stunned and shocked by what just happened. The gate did not let her though into the utopia. Confusion overcame Marie like a fever. The only ones the gate did not let in were Mary Sues and if the gate did not let her in…a flood of shock overcame Marie. Her breath grew ragged but she refused to cry, to show weakness in front of all these characters.
Clutching the threads of her sweater, Marie looked up. The crowd around her looked at her, snarls stamped on their faces. All of them stood in a tight circle around her but retreated when she moved. It was as if they were a force-field that adapted itself to her. The raven flew down and cawed in Marie’s face. She shooed it away and curled up in a ball, wishing to get away from these gazes. As soon as her eyes began to sting, she pressed her hands against them. No matter what happened, she must not cry.
A man dressed in silver armor came out of the gate and approached the gathered mob. The crowd parted for him, like a canopy parts in front of a strong wind. As soon as he had passed, the crowd locked itself again as if they were a cage for a wild beast. The man stood a few feet away from Marie but he did not move as she looked up as him, her eyes red and wild.
“Sir, there must be a mistake. I am not a Mary Sue and never was. The gate misidentified me” she said, trying to keep the sobs out of her mouth. Hisses and boos came from the crowd when she mentioned the gate and one man even threw something at her. Marie winced from the pain as the thing hit her. However she still looked at the man who had come into the ring, expecting an apology or at least something. Why couldn’t they see that she was not a Mary Sue?
“Look honey, we have a protocol for that. All Mary Sues who try and get past the gate of Heen are overwhelmed by too much epic and that is what happened to you. If you know what is good for you, I suggest you use some of your mighty superpowers and get out of here” he said, keeping his voice neutral yet Marie knew that he hated her as much as everyone else here. While she wanted to go and not cause any more trouble, Marie was too desperate to end the nightmare which began back in 2003. She needed to get into the utopia.
“What about a test, the Mary Sue litmus test? Why can’t I try it?” she shouted in a loud persistent voice. Even the man glared at her. However, he reached into his pocket and produced a little box. Inside the box on velvet cushions were several strips of yellowing paper.
“Hold out your arm girl!” the man said impatiently. Marie obediently held out her arm. As the litmus came close to her, it started to change colour. When it turned gold, the guard scowled. As it turned amber, his scowl deepened and furrows appeared on his brow as if they had teleported them. By the time it stopped changing, the paper was blood red. No longer able to contain his anger, the guard kicked Marie to the floor.
“Get out of here, time wasting Sue!” he screamed at Marie. His scream was echoed by the crowd. They shouted insults at Marie which she never even heard in her book, insults so vile they grabbed onto her heart like leeches and took all hope of even coming into the utopia out. She ran through the crowd, hoping that nobody would try to hurt her on her way out. Her fears were misplaced; the crowd parted in revulsion as soon as she even approached them. But all the while, they kept shouting at her in a hatred that was headed by nothing but an ancient anger than was so primitive it was implanted in their souls.
The boos and hisses continued to haunt Marie long after she had ran away from the gates that she once tried so hard to reach. Plants tore at her jeans whose colour was already tainted by the disgusting paint of mud. It was hard to tell where her shoes began and the mud on them ended but she did not care about her shoes. The cold was already biting at her arms, despite the sweater that she wore. It was so ironic that it was patterned with snowflakes, universal symbols of cold. Marie felt as if she was eighty years old, her mind reeling from the events of today. Sitting down on a rock, she brushed away the stray locks of hair that had gotten into her eyes. It was clear her ponytail was loose.
Dang...6 pages already. xD I am a short story writer and it shows.

I didn't do much today but thankfully I did some yesterday which is enough to carry me through. Hopefully I'll do enough today which will carry me through to tomorrow. So far I'm pretty proud of my progress but I hope to hit 5,000 words before I introduce my main protagonist.
Oh and there are no chapters. It is chaos. =3

The more I write this the more it strikes me as something which isn't a parody but a nice stand-alone piece. Sure the parody Sues are gratuitous and nobody likes them despite everything but I feel that it isn't funny or even satirical. It is a nice piece of an undefined genre.
