It needs a name. If and when it gets a name, the title will be changed. But really, right now, what does it matter? I have a month. And then I have a month more.
And so. I should probably tell you about it. Plot.
And yes. I really can't wait to plot it out, because I only have a few scenes particularly set out in my head, so I haven't overplotted, but I know where I'm going, and.. that's how I did it last year, and I liked last year. So I'm hoping I can win again, and I'm really in love with this story, so. Happy times.
If I get anything else typed up, I'll put it on here. Character outlines that I will almost never use, AU stories with these characters, extra plot building stories for pre-Nano brilliance, etc. I'm exited.
And if anyone DOES have any ideas for titles, I will welcome them, even if I don't take them ... because I love hearing what other people hear in stories. <3
I'm aiming for somewhere higher than my last Nano, which was 60k, so I'm hoping 70-80k this year, buuuuut we'll see. Last year had less plot than this one, according to me, at least, and I am queen of filler that could maybe be recycled later, so I know that if I work at all, this will make Nano length, but I'm curious to find out just HOW long it will be. And how long it will take. I hope I can beat my time of gaining 50k this year... ..that would mean getting there by the 18th, of course... D: ;__; Well. We'll see.
And so. I should probably tell you about it. Plot.
It starts off vague. There's a girl named Elizabeth. I gave her a last name, but I'm too lazy to look it up. She goes to sleep thinking about this fantasy world she hears about. Probably from her grandmother or something. xD When she wakes up, she's on a pirate ship. For some reason she doesn't freak out (or I doubt it. I think it's more, oh, this is a dream sort of thing.) Learns some stuff. The pirates are trying to take over this one city. Currently trying to starve it out. XD Apparently about a hundred years ago, it used to be the current pirates' city and they were taken over by the current inhabitants. Night comes, she falls asleep and wakes up in her bed on Earth.
This continues on for about a week or two. Go to sleep, wake up on pirate ship, work around there for a while, go back to Earth. She's been trying to think of a way to tell her best friend, Haley. Eventually she just comes right out and says it, and of course, with a best friend who actually understand her, Haley doesn't really mind and listens and is actually interested. Enter Haley as main character 2. Haley is thinking about this, because it's pretty weird, when she goes to bed that night. The same thing happens to her. ...except she's not on a pirate ship. No, she's inside the city that's being attacked. In the castle. But she explains her situation to the royalty and they accept her. I think this sort of thing must not be totally off the rocker. I mean, fantasy, right? ...yeah.
This leads into a rather... awkward time. Elizabeth works with the pirates, and thinks their role is right. They were there first. Haley has been in the city and believes them that they live in the city now and a hundred years is a bit too long of a claim or something. It's about as bad as political extremists who are for opposite parties. They sort of break apart as friends. It's slow at the beginning, but it begins to ramp up a bit. They're eventually almost yelling at each other in the hallways.
Now. Enter main character 3, and the final one that I know of. His name is Zachary, but we just call him Zach. I am going to have a horrible time typing his name this November. xD He apparently is a bored sort of kid. Haley and Elizabeth are pretty well known in their school as one of THE best friend pairings on the face of the Earth. So of course he's one of the many interested ones in why they're sort of breaking apart. But he eavesdrops on them, unlike all the other silly people who probably are all, "whut is happening? ;_;" and no sane person would TELL them. ...so. Zach hears about what's happening. Because he's bored and has a lot of time on his hands. He eventually learns the gist of stuff and gets the same routine that Elizabeth and Haley do. He knows the story so he intentionally TRIES to get into the world. And does. Except. He ends up with nomads.. Why nomads? Because I love nomads. <3 They live in the desert right outside the city. ...I mean, you know, a ways away, but the desert is still soon outside the city. This place has some awkward land formations, I know.
So Zach pleads with the nomads to help him. They don't mind, because (and this is the final history blurb, promise) they were the ones who originally built the city. Before they were forced out of it about eight hundred - a thousand years ago by the pirate's ancestors. The pirates have forgotten about this now anyway, so they don't have a guilty conscience. x3 They agree to help Zach with his crazy teen-boy-fantasy-reader plan. That is, keep Elizabeth and Haley with each other so they can't get away. As in, they have to help each other to get away.
Because, you see, whatever time they're awake in this fantasy world, they're asleep in the real world and vice versa. Thus, if they can't fall asleep in the fantasy world, they can't wake up in the real world. So basically, I get to play around with sleep deprivation, which is a favorite subject of mine, it seems, because I subject myself to minute forms of it a lot AND I had an insomniac last year in my Nano. <3
By this time, the fighting has erupted on the shore and nearly into the city itself. The nomads and Zach come up and fight their way around/get Haley and Elizabeth. And because I can, somehow Elizabeth's leg/arm will be broken. Because I can. And so they catch them and take them back to the nomad camp. It's not cared about TOO much in the fighting. I mean, there's noise everywhere and everyone's fighting, so yes. And then. Haley and Elizabeth are forced to stay awake. For a very long time. All measures are taken to make them stay awake. Arbitrarily, I've picked four days, but I might have changed my mind by Nanotime.
Eventually, of course, they get so put out that they actually have to help each other escape. Ouch. So they don't really LOVE each other, but it's a start, right? And by now, they've both gained a mutual hatred of Zach, which, you know, is good for liking each other more in comparison.
And so they eventually escape and manage to fall asleep as soon as they get a little bit away. With a lot of pain on Elizabeth's part. x3 They wake up in the real world to find they're in the hospital. Their parents were sort of worried when they found their daughters in a comatose state that endured for about a hundred hours. =3 They are also, irritatingly, put in the same room. So they get plenty of time to talk. And then, what's even more irritating, Zach comes to visit them. He first of all tells them why he did what they did which only serves to diminish their hate by a very tiny factor, but they grudgingly agree to help him with a goal he's formulated over the past few days, which is bringing the countries together. Somehow.
And then with the girls sort of reconciled and them knowing about Zach, my plot stops. Somehow the countries are brought together and everything is brought to rights with the girls forgiving Zach too, but that might take a while in the story. I just don't have it plotted out.
