How does the word count validator work this year? I can't seem to paste anything into the box, and manually typing a number into the Word Count field doesn't seem to register on widgets or on the count at the top of the page.  |

I'm not sure whyhe box over the word validator isn't working correctly; the widgets have been acting up a lot lately, so I'm not surprised to hear that they're being wierd.
It said in the news box at some point that they hadn't finished working on the one the top of the page yet, and I think they usually have the word validator offline for a couple days, probably to keep strain off of their servers.

Thanks for the information.  I suppose everything will start working properly after the excitement of the first few days dies down. I'll just go by the word counter in MS Word till then, although I think it usually comes up with more words than the official Nano counter does. |

I don't know how people write so fast. I've made my quota for today, at least, but now I still have to catch up on yesterday.
At least I'm doing better than the previous years, when I usually didn't start at all for the first few days. XD;

I couldn't paste my story in, either. And the site was REALLY slow last night, it took me forever just to type in my wordcount. (At least the wordcount shows up on your user page.) Not that I have room in my sig for my widget yet, anyway.  So when the wordcounter comes back up, it will be as if we've done a bunch of words at once? *only has 747 words according to Google Docs - should catch up* EDIT: And also, like my location suggests, I'm looking for people to join in on the adventure later into my NaNo. Anyone want to join, or know the advertisement board is good for this? Note that I likely won't include everyone that asks to join in (I'm thinking I want around four people), however there's no chance if you don't offer. Also, it won't be 'first come, first served.'  |

I managed to get in my word count last night eventually... the first time I tried the site wouldn't even let me log in, so I waited an hour and then uploaded it again.

Omni - As I told you on the 'bloids, you can use Hades and Shade.
In other news, I got crazy-ahead yesterday, and am now procrastinating and trying to figure out where to go from where the characters are now. It's annoying.

I had a great idea. <3 I'd been meaning to do character sketches to help me get a better handle on my characters, but suddenly it's NaNo and I still haven't do it... so I'm going to work it into my NaNo. x3 Write some scenes of internal monologuing, just really get into their heads.
I'm looking forward to getting into Alerid's head, though. The guy is so messed up. To those of you who have roleplayed with me on the Mercenaries and are familiar with Alerid, this version of him is nowhere near similar. XDDD

This story is already starting to go against my plans... all part of the NaNo magic, I suppose. Just have to get down 635 more words before bed tonight and I'll hit the big 7k.
(I was kind of hoping to make 10k this first weekend, but I found myself suffering from a profound lack of motivation for most of today. Oh, well, I'm still working up a nice buffer.)
