Name: Talon
Age: 2,861 and counting
Species: Gryphon
Gender: Male
Apperance: Talon is an ancient Gryphon with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. His fur and feathers are of mixed browns from tauny to dark chocolate except for the flight feathers of his wings which are such a pale shade of brown that they look white. His eyes are golden with brown irises. He is around the same height as a human and is strong enough to carry two on his back for short distances.
Personality: Talon is rather cynical, having spent much of his life being persecuted by humans. He is one of the only Gryphon to live outside the mountains but he still retains a strong telepathic link with his Clan. He enjoys being alone but does not object to company. He has little compassion for most humans but he refuses to harm innocents.
Powers: Telepathic links with his Clan allow Talon to call for their aid in extreme hardship. He had some training in air magic when he was MUCH younger but has forgotten most of it and is averse to using it. He can speak telepathically with anyone and can also block others from speaking so with him.
History: Talon is old even by Gryphon standards. He once had a Master who taught him how to use his mind and Talon still loves and respects his Master more then any other living creature. Since moving away from his Clan, Talon has lived mostly as an outcast although he has sometimes worked for the humans in return for food but only when he was desperate.

Talon watched as the sun went down, ignoring everything but the intensity with which it shone. He loved the sun but he hated the day. Day was when the humans came out and day was also when Gryphon normally slept. He had found himself a comfortable place in a cave overlooking a little stream that same morning and had stayed up to watch the sunrise.
He liked sunrise better then sunset, though he wasn't quite sure why. He had seen thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of these events and yet they never lost their beauty.
As the dying rays of light glittered their last on the trickleing stream, Talon rose from his place by the cave mouth and paced down the slope, using his wings to balance. He paused at the boundry to the forest, wondering if it was such a good idea to leave the safety of the cave, to wander so close to the humans.
A moments deliberation bought him to the only logical conclusion. He had to go.
It had been days since he had eaten anything substantial and he needed to find some wild game to tide him through the next few days. If any humans strayed too close, he could easily dispatch them and if they came in force, well...
He could fly well, his wings, tucked neatly against his back, were strong and fast but his bulk was large and cumbersome, he was not agile like his smaller cousins, the cats. He was large, heavy with muscle and, although he could fight well enough, he dubted his chances of escaping if he were to somehow be overpowered.
The need for food drove him onwards despite the danger. He was hoping to come across a farm, perhaps he could sneak away with a cattlebeast. He briefly considered flying to the nearest farms but pushed the thought away as soon as it had come. Flying was faster but on a night like this, with so many humans in the city by the forest, he would be an easy target for their long range weapons.
Talon had lost his cousin that way and he knew better then to challenge such advanced weapons, especially when Gryphon found it so hard to manouver in flight.
Some shadows moved in the darkness ahead, oddly distorted by the angle of moonlight. Talon froze, listening and sniffing, trying to determine if they were friend of foe. He could not smell manflesh in the air so he appreached to forests edge with caution. He crouched among the undergrowth, peering out at the figures.
His excellent night vision spotted a vampire, a pixie and a fallen angel moving quickly together and conversing in low, tense voices. They were not foes but in a world like this, Talon knew never to assume that strangers were friendly.
He advanced cautiously, knowing he could defeat each on their own but unsure if he would be a match for them if they decided to team up against him. He padded softly, making no noise as he appreached from out of the darkness.
He growled slightly to announce his presence and then opened his mind to speak with them telepathically. His eagle beak could not cope with such complex words.
Who are you?
