So I finally painted my royal peophin couple: Oceanyd and Poseidyn. This makes me happy ;D To celebrate! I know this is the kind of pic that ends up used in random horse RPs and stuff... so you saw it here first. I've only put a cropped version on neo, heh. *trusts NTWF* Issues? You bet. For when I feel like working on this for another 15hrs... -male nostril placement -- he's based on the andalusian breed, which has a roman nose, but this still bugs me -female legs -- more definition to make them look more separated -water, more detail -- ahhh please mommy no more foam tonight -droplets on fur ruff pls. -gold bands on male need work -female cape -- redefine gold pattern -more mane strands + add some braids cuz they're fun -add their Delphin petpets at some pt.

Lark (can I call you that? ^^;; ) you are an amazing artist. I mean seriously, I can't see anything wrong with that picture. It is dynamic, very well drawn and you've managed to capture even the tiniest fur ruff details.
*bows before your superior art skills* And I'm sorry I can't say anything else but...I'm just in so much awe.

Absolutely lovely as always. Only thing in the picture that confuses me is the two holes in the cloud with the... sun? shining through. It makes it seem like its shining in two different directions.
Gotta say though.. even though my favourite colour is purple purple purple.. I like the blue peophin better. It's simply gorgeous

Ty ty guys I'm so stoked @ getting them painted. I love seeing either of them as my active making awesomely out of place comments about destructomatch. LOL. Good pt re: the sunbeams, they're supposed to look like a few escaped rays from the sunrise there peeking out of clouds but evidently that didn't work very well. I wonder if whoever designed royal peophins considered how strange it would feel to paint them in their element it took me a couple tries to get the cloak/capes right and even then I was like ahh they're in water this is ridiculous! Haha.

Wow, this picture is absolutely amazing. You can tell that you've spent so much time and effort on it, and it's really paid off. Congratz on getting your peophins painted by the way

I think it would have worked had the sun been a bit higher on the horizon.. but as it is it looks like it's sinking down so the angle of the escaping rays are at odds. Regardless it's a really minor point. Picture=Gorgeous

0_0 Sooo pretty... so pastelly... Awesome job on the picture, the background gives it such great depth and there's all so much movement in the scene. Anyway, awesome job.
My main qualm is just with the water, I think it's really really hard to render water in any of its forms, but in the case of the sea... I think too much of the surface is foam. You've done a fantastic job on the foam, and I really hate to tell you because you must have spent an awful lot of time on it, but, I think there should be more of the glassy surface of the water showing through, to make absolutely sure that they're on water and not cloud. The stuff that's in front of the peophins would be relatively calm water (water that's being sucked backwards into their wave), so that would mean darker colours and less fluffyness. Likewise, the water that makes up the "wall" of the wave should also be glassy, dark and smooth, because it's being sucked upwards quite strongly by the fluid motion, and not being sprayed outwards like water that's falling or water that's hit an object. I do looove the splash between the male peophin and the sea, though.
Great control of colour throughout the piece, btw. It's so cool and calm and atmospheric. And your subjects fit in with the background colours so well.
I think the only other thing that could bother me about this picture is the amount of water droplets dripping off the subjects. I think the droplets caught up in the manes work very, very well, as that long fur really looks like it would repel water, and I think the droplets around their ankles and knees work very very well because they look just like little sprays of water that were caught in the moment before they fell. The droplets on the peophins' faces and necks, however, look a bit excessive maybe, just because of the way that water normally behaves when it comes in contact with animal hide. Water tends to just slick the surface of the short fur, rather than form into large droplets, so instead of seeing a whole lot of droplets we see just a shiny, slimy, sweaty look on the surface of the material. I think the drips collecting under the Peos' chins are great, and I think if you had only had a couple drops over the main bodies of the subjects, the viewer could assume they were just a chance droplet that had fallen from the froth of the wave above them. But I think there might just be a couple too many droplets on the face and necks of the peophins.
Eeeeeeee, but the picture is still so awesome anyway. Especially the fluffyness of the manes and the furry edges of the male peo's robe.
Royal peophins are so cool, congrats on finally getting them painted ^^ I'm eventually going to get a shadow/royal girl double painted peophin on my side account.

Ty ty both and esp. pacmanite for the long review. I can't say I was striving for realism particularly on the water, hahaha. I had a lengthy internal debate re: making it water, or making it clouds and going all metaphysical w/ it I think echoes of that cloud-thought linger on in the pic. It's a pastel rootbeer float! My sis hated the drops as I was doing them -- "why are you putting boogers on them?" haha. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on them too. I had way too much fun doing them I might reduce the opac on that layer eventually, idk. Shadow/rg is going to look good! I originally just wanted to paint 2 peos so that I could steal the RB's cloak for the RG and get this: But then when I'd painted the RB he was so handsome with his cloak, I decided to leave it on him... and keep him in the process

Wooooow. This is just fantastic! I've been enjoying sitting and staring at it. Gorgeous colors and composition. I hope you do add the petpets eventually, because I'd love to see your take on them!
