EDIT: Error, error. Nature has accidently used portals. *headbang* I've edited that out now.
(ridiculously overpowered mage : SAY WHAT?!! Anyway, I do have a weakness towards fire, and no light or earth abilities.)
(Like I said before, guys, GMT kills chat)
"Smithy, I believe we should track them and make sure they "wander" right into the path of the cops" she winked, her meaning clear enough.
Smithy gave her a broad grin, understanding her meaning. "Sure, why not?"
Smithy moved easily with Owleyes, Lupehunter, and Celestial. Upon reaching the maze, Smithy listened to what Prisma told them, then began climbing up the scaffolding quickly.
About halfway up, she spotted Celestial and Lupehunter trying to get into the maze. Leaping down into the air, she told them, "Guys, he said the scaffolding. Come on, we can get an advantage in magic up there-"
Breaking off, Smithy stared very hard at a place in the shrubbery, and flew over. But all she saw was people apparently dissapearing into the shadows, phsically. With a screech of rage, she zoomed down. "Sneaks! Running away! Come back here!"
She turned, her face contorted with fury. "You people, come here! They've escaped!!"
(Smithy tends to get very touchy about people using dark magic other than her, for some reason.)

((*facepalm* Nat, look back at what I said on the previous page. "And before anyone makes the mistake of assuming there's a portal...there isn't. They're traveling via shadows--so nothing to jump through or follow." There'd be a slight phantasmal ripple, but no portal. Not anymore than water would create a hole one could follow through--especially when the creature melds with the water itself...))

When Lupehunter heard Smithy screaming, he transformed back into his human form and scrambled up the scaffolding. He reached the top just as he saw the last of the shadows disappear. "Bloody hell, what in the world are those things ?" he muttered "Great, thanks to them, we lost the advantage and our enemies."

Celestial heard Smithy screech with rage as her own heart filled with the emotion. She beat her wings hard and scrambled over the srubbery of the maze, coming down to rest on it and having her guns at the ready. The dragon mage saw the enemy getting away through some portal, too scared to face them in honest combat. But if they wanted a sneak attack, it was a sneak attack they would get. Aiming her Desert Eagle handgun, Celestial fired a flaming bullet right into the foot of the stragglers before they got through the portal.
If Overlord hadn't had a beak, he would have grinned from ear to ear at the girl's reaction. I can see why you are confused but rest assured, your neural patterns are normal. However, be prepared for a shock, what I am going to tell you might be hard to accept. he looked the girl right into the eyes, making sure she was braced.
Celestial and you are...related.

I can see why you are confused but rest assured, your neural patterns are normal.
She got the vague impression that the Weewoo was enjoying this.
Diana sighed and shook her head, a small smile twitching at her lips. "Well, I'll just assume that were I hallucinating, I don't use such technical terms as I talk..."
However, be prepared for a shock, what I am going to tell you might be hard to accept.
If it was possible for a bird to look serious, then the Weewoo was the epitome of it. The smile vanished from her face, and a touch of ice entered her electric blue eyes. What was she about to learn? Was Makaique still alive? Was Lou dead? Was Cele dead?
Was her father dead?
Celestial and you are... related.
Diana's face was blank for a scattered handful of moments. At last, expression returned in the form of her eyebrows narrowing. Pure confusion. Her head abruptly turned to face the Weewoo.
"What are you talking about? My family is dead." Her voice cracked on the last word. Okay, so she still had Prisma, but they were cousins, and they hadn't really seen each other since the fire. And her father was still alive, if you considered being comatose and locked up in a cell somewhere alive...
Okay, perhaps this is a delusion. Maybe I'm dying. I did just go through a nuclear blast...
((Actually, that's exactly how I talk, but I'll let my persona escape the affliction.))

Overlord let out a series of sharp short chorrups, a Weewoo's equivalent of laughing. How could the girl not see that the answer was staring her in the face. Even if Celestial was in the fire, though Overlord could not get any memories of a housefire from her mind other than ones she had caused herself, the dragon girl had seen with what kind of joy Celestial handled fire. However, he had to go easy on her because finding out a family member was alive and kicking was a shock.
You are not dying and I am not a delusion. Did you ever know your mother Diana? he asked her, looking into those eyes. They were so much like his mistress's eyes.

((Owleye got lost. She still has bad eyesight. I think she's wandering around somewhere in a different part of the Splatterboard. Dx)) Owleye looked up from the newspaper and blinked. A tumbleweed rolled by. "Where am I?" Owleye muttered.
Not only had she lost sight of her partner and the new recruit, but she didn't hear any of Carrie's people, neutral parties, or law enforcement. She was completely alone, practically blind, and nose dead. "This can't be good..."

((who else would I be waiting for--I was thinking there were three within your party, but I don't want to hold everyone up too long)) ((Just Nat, but she may still be unconscious so you could probably godmode her there anyway. xD;)) ((alright)) "Sir, they're here." "Thank you. I'll go see them now. Maybe I can get some answers. Any casualties?" "No, sir. It went smoothly. Towards the end, they caught on. One of the men has a foot wound, but some downtime and rest will help out." "Give him my thanks and see he's taken care of." "Yes, sir!" --- Stal strode into the room containing his three guests, dismissed the handguns in Rikku's hands with a glance. He nodded to the two conscious ones in turn, but strode to a cabinet alongside one of the walls and poured himself something to drink before saying anything. "Your friend seems injured. If she needs medical attention, I can see she's taken care of." He strode over to a seat and sat facing them. "I'm sorry about the speed in which you were brought here, but I found it necessary if the balance is to be maintained. Oh, where are my manners? Please, help yourselves to a drink." Be careful, they're suspicious and you shouldn't do anything to provoke them. "I don't expect to keep you three long--you can get back to the killing if you would like, though I'd recommend laying low for awhile. This war has escalated far too fast in just one night... and given the people you have after you, I wouldn't expect you to make it through the night without getting seriously injured. I have something to ask, but first...I'm sure you have some questions."

"Guys, I think we should flee from the cops right now, seeing as our enemy has gotten away with some help. Besides, I would rather not stick around here and be arrested by the cops," Lupehunter said. "We need to find a hiding place asap."

You are not dying and I am not a delusion. Did you ever know your mother Diana?
Diana sat in confused silence for a few more seconds until what the Weewoo had said hit home.
"You aren't serious," she mumbled, dazed.
Celestial was her mother?
But that wasn't possible. Okay, so she'd grown up without her mother, that much she knew. But this... this didn't make any sense! Her father had never mentioned her... and besides, if that was the case, why had she left? Dragons didn't just do that. She knew her own nature perfectly well, the way she attached herself completely to anyone she cared about, becoming nearly their shadow whenever they were in danger (albeit a very powerful shadow). She couldn't imagine leaving what little family she knew behind.
The night had been insane, but she needed to draw the line between reality and delusion.
Her cyan eyes lost their glaze as she regained her focus.
"I really don't find that sort of thing funny," she muttered in clipped tones, getting to her feet. She gave the bird a glare that could have drilled a hole through steel. "And telepathic or not, why would a Weewoo know?"
Without another word, she turned and strode away, eyes peeled for any stragglers.

Celestial watched as her bullet went through nothing but thin air, missing the straggler by a few centimetres. She shrieked, a piercing sound of a dragon who had lost her prey too many times. It ripped through the air like a knife but such a sound couldn't last. She finally regained control of herself and put the Desert Eagle back into it's holster.
"You are right Lupehunter, we better get out. Though don't worry about cops, we can take any of them on" she smirked, almost looking forward to an encounter with the law. But only if the law lost.
Hopping off the hedge, Celestial began making her way out of the maze and away from the ruins of the mansion.
***
You think I am being funny huh? Overlord asked her in an insulted tone. No matter how far she went, he was not going to sever the connection. He didn't like how this girl treated him as if he was just a dumb animal like most other Weewoos. Overlord was an empathetic Weewoo who took full advantage of the mutual mind link between him and Celestial, a mind link that allowed her to give him some power.
I can tell you, I'm not being funny. Celestial asked me to tell you and that is what I am doing. If you don't believe me, ask her yourself next time you see her. As for why she left, I know her memories contain the image of a baby girl with eyes like her own but the emotion with the memory is sad and lonely even though the scene isn't. You can ask her that yourself, there is only so much an empathetic Weewoo can gain through a mutual mind link. he called out to her in his mind and severed the connection, flying off to join Celestial. He just needed to follow the shriek.
She will know what to do with her own daughter.

Looking around, Owleye found that she had wandered into a partially destroyed library. "Well, here's as good a place as any to stay..." she muttered. Walking over to an undamaged part of the library, she made her way through the mazes of books until she found a lounge deep within the structure. Curling up on a dusty sofa, she watched and waited...

((*facepalm* Nat, look back at what I said on the previous page. )) ((Nature is not the same as Nat. =P Nat is the marshmallow girl with the whitish avatar.)) Rikku glances around the sitting room, noticing the now-materialized Yoyote do the same. Hopefully this 'employer' won't be too long in coming; she has plans for the future that don't involve being stuck in some house by some guy with shadow minions.
She lowers her handguns, but doesn't drop them. The situation can still turn nasty.Stal strode into the room containing his three guests, dismissed the handguns in Rikku's hands with a glance. He nodded to the two conscious ones in turn, but strode to a cabinet alongside one of the walls and poured himself something to drink before saying anything.

Holding her kadoatie as firmly as she could, the Wocky-girl said steadily, "Why, yes. Which side are you on, and what do you want with us?"
