how about natalie imbruglia and single file? Um, I think so? =D If I thought hard enough, I could probably find some Natalie Imbruglia songs that I like. Single File, though... unfortunately, I've never heard of them. D: youtube.com/watch?v=XesZvS3IrQM^ignore the picture, its just music. Single file is a local band from the state I live in.

Single File, though... unfortunately, I've never heard of them. D: Of course. Perhaps it ... runs in the family? Or something. Or maybe cool people just wear fedoras by default. Some kind of genetic anomaly. The ones that wake up at all. xD I think the scientific community would be much enhanced by a few people running around shouting, "WEEWOO!" and having treeball fights and whatnot. So... *wraps brain around concept, tries to ignore the smell of burning grey matter* ... The Internet's child is a small fluffy brown mammal? I mean, it would make sense, in a very nonsensical way, but all the same. ... *drops a fedora on Rikku's head* =D Well, most of them should wake up, at least. We have the necromancers on standby, after all. They just might not be... the same. And yes, the scientific community would be greatly enhanced by such things. Especially if all scientists owned a pet flesh-eating squid. Er. Perhaps the Internet's second cousin. Thrice removed. On the squid's side. *looks around with shifty eyes, spray-paints Tamia's own fedora purple, and flees* Having a few different body parts never hurt anybody. Apart from that one guy ... but we don't talk about him. And who needs a pocket protector when you can have a flesh-eating squid? There could be ... there could be clubs. Flesh-Eating Squids Anonymous. That kind of thing. NOOOO NOT ED THE UNDEAD WALRUS D===... No, not him. A. Ah. Different undead walrus. Yes. Heh. >.>;

No, dream theater, PATD, dragonforce, and death cab for cutie are cool bands. ;D Um. I ... I haven't heard of any of those. >.>; *phails* But I'm sure they're cool. =D The fact remains, however, that the Beatles are awesome. Not Beatles, Scarabs! *tv show'd* DOOM!! *giggle*

*runs in and hides behind someones skirt* I misread that as "runs and hide up someone's skirt", but, um, well. xD We won't go there. Ever. Yeah... I only did that when I was three... and it wasn't my fault... it flew up D=!

Flesh-Eating Squids Anonymous. That kind of thing. Hmm, well, that does make a lot of sense. It also means that Trilly is inevitably related, by blood, to both a small fluffy brown mammal and a squid. Which means that, through marriage, I am. Which means that the whole NTWF is. This is coming together rather nicely. =D Purple! *grins* Spiffy. *spraypaints Rikku's rainbow-coloured* I think the point of a pocket protector is so that you don't get ink on your shirt, but I could be wrong. And most certainly there would be clubs, yes. Where else would your flesh-eating squids go when the scientists are attending dry, boring conferences filled with non-NTWFified scientists?

This is a nice family tree. =D Flesh-eating squid nightclu - No. I'm not even going to think that.

Say, does anyone here know if there's a term for, say, instruments where you strike them and just let it vibrate, like a piano or guitar, vs. instruments where you have to continuously cause it to vibrate, like a violin or flute?

Not that I know of ... um. Percussion, but not really. That's tricky. ... As a violinist, though, I have to protest. You can play violins that way, via pizzicato.

XDD

Good vocals. And, I mean, zombies, come on. Trilly is the forbidden lovechild of Tamia and The Internet. Although not really forbidden, so much as, "has a really cool story to tell her grandchildren someday". *thinks that for you* OOH! =D It's a lovely thought. Are you sure you don't want to expand on it? *ignores brain as it oozes slowly from her ears*

XDD Well, I'm not looking for thing like 'strings' or 'woodwinds'. (You probably get what I mean, but still.) I'm looking for these for a couple reasons. One: with the 'hit and let vibrate' instruments, there's a specific… type of sound that they make, and you can just tell that that's what you did. Two: with flutes and violins, you can make really long, smooth notes with the 'continuous vibration' thing I mentioned.
