I've just started So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish. '...two thousand years after a man had been nailed to a cross for trying to spread happiness...' I loved that line! I thought the original line was 'two thousand years after some guy got nailed to a tree for saying how good it would be for everyone to be nice to each other for a change...' But it has been a long time since I read the books. XD *needs to schedule a re-read sometime*

"This time it was right, it would work, and nobody would have to get nailed to anything."

Ooh! I want to join! I've read all five books and Salmon of Doubt, but it's been a long time since I've actually read the series... I should probably read it again sometime.
Oh, and "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish" is available on iTunes. I have it. XD

Gahh, the local library doesn't have any other books of Douglas Adams. Dx
I have to search wider then...

I reckon Restaurant is best. The cow who sells it's own rump rocks, and so does the whole Scrabble part at the end. And the prophet showing up right as the world ends.

I was curious if anyone here has read anything by John Scalzi.. I recently read "The Android's Dream," and he has a kind of similar funny sci-fi style to Douglas Adams. If you haven't read it, I'd suggest it for any fans of Douglas Adams' books.

Omigosh! My dad is ordering the full Hitchhikers' series on Amazon, in one book. 732 pages of pure gold. That's the first in list of five books I want to read this summer, the only English one too.

C'mon guys, don't let this thread die. I tore through the Hitchhiker's Guide (all five parts) on my holiday, and it was beyond amazing. *hands out bottles of Old Janx Spirit to everyone* I absolutely loved Marvin's appearences everywhere. Such a shame he shut down. If I had any drawing skills, I would make an illustration of a barren, volcanic landscape with God's Last Message to his Creation in fiery letters on it. xD Click hum.

Plus I can relate to him a lot. ...Mind if I steal your picture idea? >_> *sips a Pan-Galactric Gargle Blaster* *has some more* X_____X

I would love to have a picture like that in my signature. Here, this will make you feel better. *whacks you in the face with a rubber mallet* There are some things about the storyline of the latest Hitchhiker's movie that was off. In the five books, I completely missed the part where Zaphod goes to find the coordinates for Magrathea, and for that, has to retrieve the Point Of View Gun. Trillian never gets abducted, and they never go to Vogsphere either. What about that?

*fires POV-gun at club-members* My point of view is that the Guide is way too awesome to not talk about. What was the deal with the ending, anyway? It wasn't what you would call happy, was it? So, what basically happened was the Guide Mk II ending up with the Vogon Captain, then the Guide used its ability to move on the Probability axis of the Universe to make sure all the other Earths on the Probability axis were demolished in the end too, right?
And how come some Earths were not demolished, in the end, even though the Vogon ships arrived there? Did their bureaucracy save the Earth in the end, because the final demolition order was rejected because of the invention of the Improbability Drive, which rendered Hyperspace Bypasses useless?
The character of the Ruler of the Universe was very inventive too. What I wonder is, would a man who objectifies (as in 'being objective') everything make a perfect ruler? It seemed to me he was acting solely on reason and logic. ...*downs some Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters to knock brains back in*
