Oh neat, they answered my question! *___*
Makes total sense but I just figured I would ask anyway in case it was one of those "you can do x and y but not z" situations. Still, there are a lot of competitions I've been in that would make fantastic short stories or even series. D: C'est la vie.

Also in the Editorial was the little reminder that the Neocam was (technically) back up, which I had no idea of and went to go check, but... 0_o www.neopets.com/neocam.phtmladmittedly it's showing pictures from 2007 still but the Editorial acknowledged it exists and didn't make any mention of "it hasn't updated for years and it still won't". I wonder if TNT is being sarcastic?

I submitted a beginning that wasn't chosen. A few weeks went by so I thought it would be okay to write a short story for the NT with the same beginning. One Friday it was in the NT and the following Monday it was a STC beginning. I have to wonder if the difference was that both the beginning and story were written by me and the short story came out before the STC.

I feel like that was more likely something that TNT just didn't notice, since they said using one entry for multiple writing competitions was a no-go. But it seems like a pretty harmless one-time mishap to me, although I can understand why they wouldn't want to give users permission to do that willy-nilly. There would be a lot of repeated material in site competitions and a lot more people trying to skew details of existing STC entries in order to avoid the effort of producing original material.

That's probably the case. I've used old STC beginning that weren't accepted to write stories in the past - "The Dirtiest Curse" being the most recent. The problem in this particular case was that my beginning was chosen nearly a month after I had submitted it. It was the first beginning that I ever had chosen in fact. Still, I guess that means I need to be more careful.

So let me do my review of this week's Editorial: QUESTION #1: Rapid Fire Action:Nimmo's Pond really should just let you hold done the space bar and have it shoot automatically. Maybe not as rapidly as if you were tapping it so that there's a reason to rapidly tap it, but I wouldn't mind if they gave us the option to hold the space bar down to shoot a steady stream of bullets. QUESTION #5: Who's Story Is This?Congrats on getting your question in the Editorial, Selm! QUESTION #6: Money Sign:I always imagine the symbol for NP would sort of combine the "N" and the "P" together. QUESTION #9: Sketchy Rule:So... what if the person drew a Sketch Neopet? QUESTION #14: Dance Party?Well okay, we'll first need some music. ... yeah, I'm not going to top this, ending it here.

Wow, editorial bombshells today. You can say that again. Putting Lenny Conundrum on indefinite hiatus means Mr. Insane has almost certainly left the building. I'm not too broken up about the possibility of discontinuing the Altador Cup. It's gone on for quite a while in Internet time, and I'd frankly rather TNT flex their creative muscle and try something new for a change (which they seem to be leaning toward anyway) than have them have to hear more complaints about the Cup being rigged/unfair, players cheating, players not pulling their weight (which has never been proven to affect a team overall), prize shop prizes... ad nauseum. I know there are a lot of players who love it, but if I worked for TNT, after this long I'd start to feel like the nice shoutouts weren't worth the vitriol--especially when a number of players who claim to love the AC spend all their time complaining. That can't not be discouraging to some degree. /mini-rant

I wonder if he's been gone for a while and no one thought to check D: I agree with you about the altador cup. Honestly it's just more stress than it's worth since the cheaters have developed a foolproof plan to get whatever team they want to the podium. It would have been nice to end on an even 10, but Fyora was it hard last year to keep my motivation up to get all star when I was on one of the cheater-infested teams and had to hear about it from all the other teams every single day. Especially with all these staff changes. I imagine seeing a bunch of new faces in the staff tourney would make a number of people uncomfortable and upset since we don't really know who's here, who isn't, and who replaced those who left. Maybe they'll make a Meridell/Brightvale plot like they hinted for us during that time. One can dream, right?

I will miss the Neopies. I only got to participate in one of those and I found it quite fun. Why? Because glamorized sitewide polls are fun? Yes, yes they are. (I hope no news about the future of Daily Dare and the Games Master Challenge is good news. I enjoy those events immensely. Also, AAA. I'm sure TNT wouldn't want to retire their and my favorite gamer nerd.) How long has it been since the last LC? I forget. Maybe Mr. Insane's been gone since before the JumpStart move. (Or maybe he got preoccupied with something else, and then left... I dunno, it's all speculation at this point. Also it's his life and I've got no business snooping in it.) I imagine the Staff Tournament would be a little weird with so many old faces gone and a slew of new faces. (Which makes me wonder how many people they gained during the transition. We know they have a new Lawyerbot, but that's it as far as I know.) Still, I hope they find other ways to incorporate the staff into site activities. I miss stuff like Sacrificer and the Ski Lodge Murder Mystery that made us feel like TNT were actual people, not just a hive-mind entity lurking behind a dynamite avatar. I would love a Meridell/Brightvale plot, or any plot in general. especially one with Werelupes
wait no maybe not Werelupes because I don't want site canon to contradict my precious babiesIf there's an era of Neopets I'd say I really miss, it's the glory days when we were getting one or two plots a year--Battle for Meridell, Hannah and the Ice Caves, Curse of Maraqua, the Lost Desert Plot, etc. The site lore is one of my favorite things about Neopets (although I entirely acknowledge how resource-intensive plots are, and completely understand if TNT doesn't currently have the budget or time for that kind of pace). Still, I'd just love to see them do more with site lore and characters in general. It makes me sad when characters are just used for a single plot, maybe two, and then relegated to Neopedia entries and Better Than You. I loved what Faeries' Ruin did as far as bringing back some of the old-time greats. like JazanThen again, I still stand by my theory that TNT purposely doesn't do much with site characters after plots because they don't want to hem NT writers in with copious amounts of canon material (since it's an NT rule that you can't write anything that directly contradicts canon). While it ultimately wouldn't matter - the characters are TNT's intellectual property and they don't need anyone's permission to add to or change canon - it seems like this is a win-win situation for them. They don't have to divert resources into constant site plots, and NT writers get more creative freedom as a result. Still (again), considering Skarl and Hagan, for example, haven't been in a plot since The Darkest Faerie (and their appearance was in a PS2 game, so I'm not sure that technically counts as a site plot), it would be great to see them again. ... Yes, the entire last half of this post was just me arguing with myself.

I don't know the exact date of the last contest, but from what I've found the LC has been down since at least mid-2013. We didn't find out about the Jumpstart sale until early 2014.
That would be cool, but I wonder how it would work. They said they want to appeal to a teen/YA audience but I doubt they'd do something like a murder mystery or straight up voting on which staff member should get eaten.
Ah I guess that does make sense. I like how they handled the old characters in TFR. The important characters were all new and the old characters basically didn't have much of their own lore affected.
We don't really know much about Hagan as a character, now that I think about it. I've never played the PS2 game so I don't know his role in that. Brightvale really hasn't been involved in much.
