They are making plenty of basic coloured clothing, but the problem is that they're ALL in the NC Mall! Look: Instead of making the existing clothing items wearable, they've released for the NC Mall a Blue Argyle Sweater Vest and Shirt, Magenta Striped Trousers, Sporty Tennis Shirt, Pristine Tennis Skirt, Fancy Vest, Gypsy Girl Vest and Skirt, Gypsy Boy Vest and Trousers, and Patchwork Trousers. And that's just the tops and bottoms. Why won't TNT let ordinary people wear ordinary clothes, instead of a fan shirt that makes you look like a banana with orange stripes? They've released a FEW basic items in the Mall, but none of them go together. Sure, they've got Magenta Trousers. WHAT can you do with Magenta trousers? Magenta?? There are no NORMAL items in the Mall, that's for sure! XD The vest and the sweater vest are the only things verging on possibly normal. NP stuff has normal stuff too, you know. There's the School Girl set, wellington boots, scarves, and definitely lots of normal hats. There's no basic pants for any method of purchase, NC or NP. Unless you get them through a paintbrush. There's also the ratio of male items vs female items

I think that the crazy clothes are fun, but that TNT is probably underestimating the demand for more normalish clothes. You can use normal clothes in such a way to create a variety of really nifty outfits, with a bit of mixing and matching - just like in real life. I'm sure most people have a pair of jeans that can be dressed up for a nicer look, dressed down to look uber casual, worn with a cool top for a night out, and so on. Same idea - just with Neopets' clothes, you know? xP

I'm not entirely sure TNT is mistaken by releasing so many... "out-there" clothes. Don't get me wrong; my pets' traditional wardrobes contain alarming quantities of T-shirts and hoodies and jeans -- but Neopia is a sort of "out-there" place. xD Plus, I think one of TNT's main goals with regards to customisation is to provide a way for players with flat, undeveloped pets to build on them and spark new ideas for character. The easiest way to do that is to create a whole bunch of items that just scream a particular character type. Thus the Sloth Clone robes, poofy faerie gowns, and Meridellian armour. Anyone can wear a T-shirt, and it really doesn't say much about their interests or personality, besides that they're "average", which is exactly what customisation aims to avoid.
Despite all that, though, I'm still holding onto the desperate theory that TNT are setting up the weirdest clothes at the extreme ends of the spectrum to start with, and then gradually filling in the gaps with more normal clothes as time progresses. x3 Who knows.

Komori, I had to spend a little shy of a million to get pants on my draik. XD What we crazy Neopians will do...
I wholeheartedly agree. TNT, please don't leave us bottomless.
There are no normal NC pants... Magenta is fairly clashy, patchwork is fairly ugly, Ionizing Lab Ray pants are kind of freaky, and green sparkly pants are obtrusive. Nothing normal about them. D:

That would be true if everyone was establishing characters on their pets. That's the case for most NT writers (and a certain fraction of the non-NT writers too). I'm not one of them. xP The thing with 'average' clothing is that it can fit better with the actual appearance of the pet, rather than expressing its personality. Sure, if my pet were a florist who likes to dance, likes to go to the lab and appreciates good jokes, I could dress him in a Lab Ray T-shirt, a Flower Petal Skirt, Shenkuu Performer Shoes and Springy Eye Glasses, but he won't exactly look nice. I'd much rather dress him in a blue overall and a straw hat, and leave the other stuff to the description. I just say: Stand out by being ordinary.

I guess there's a new species of underwater pet, The Mershoyru I'm not entirely sure TNT is mistaken by releasing so many... "out-there" clothes. It shows that he's an avid painter without being "out there" But some of those clothes did give me an idea for a story, which is linked in my signature

TNT really does have to release more ordinary clothes. I need a shirt and jeans for my Kacheek Cuddlepuff, who is impulsive and mischevious, and a suit for my Blumaroo Outback, who is serious and smart. There aren't many clothes that aren't NC that can acheive the desired effect.

Ahhhh, a suit would be divine. <3 As would some wigs and a black leather jacket.

In case you haven't looked lately, TNT has released more normal clothes in the NC Mall. Two pairs of trousers and a simple skirt. So I guess TNT heard us.

Yeah, the black skirt is kinda' nice for the girls, and I do like the brown trousers. Actually, they fit my Halloween Grarrl quite well, since my drawing of him HAS brown pants! ;D Now if they can make a white colonial-style wig and a cane, Cardinal_Fang will match his picture the way his wife does! <3

Probably a bit early for winter, but I really don't care. He's entered in the Customization Spotlight Contest, but I doubt that he would win, seeing that there are plenty of contestants.

No offense, but i doubt you'll get many high scores. A lot of that stuff was given out free 9 months ago, and almost everything else 6 months ago.
