Yeaaaah, anyway, this is my first year with NaNoWriMo. Advice (Example: Always have monkeys beating up each other in a forest) is greatly appreciated, along with the occasional helping of skilly an' duff. Yum, skilly an' duff. My name there is Nocturne (How original XP) so drop me a line. Drop it, I said! Drop that line right now!
I'm going to make mine a Mystery. I'm going out of my comfort zone with this one, having never done a mystery before.
Outline: Main character is a detective named Jerek, and receives word of a kidnapped girl. Jerek lives in an old city, which has a population of barely 10,000. As he searches for the girl, he quickly discovers that the city isn't as barren as it seems. His partner-in-anti-crime is Tanli (Yay, I decided on name) who is his bumbling apprentice.
Thoughts? Advice? Cumquats? Superman? Pirates? Butterflies?

I've decided to modify my novel slightly.
Part 1 is the beginning, where the characters are on earth, fighting back the heinous Harrows. They receive word that the villainous Harrow leader is heading to the moon. What do they do? Why, they.... Go to the moon in Part 2! They enounter allies in the strangest places, including space pirates, alien space colonists, with sub-atomic space anomalies every few thousand words! ^^
Each part is about 30k, rounding up to a nice 60k.
TTFN!
