*has been asleep for the past eight pages, but has caught up quickly* Whoo. It was a good idea for TNT to spring this right when so many people are leaving over the new layout. And new plot, yay! <3 I love the comic. The characters seem more real in this one, and I love how they're using the new pets. Plus, Tonu! <3 The Xweetok daughter is cute. ^^ Wow, I didn't catch any of the cameos you guys did. XD I have to pay more attention. And I have to agree with those who got a bad feeling about the Lutari. He's going for one of those typical villain-in-disguise things, and it definitely did look like he was hitting on Lilian. >< A slick character. I like the captain and the stowaway. XD The stowaway's just so happy-go-lucky. X33 The puzzles were fun. I solved the first two on my first try, and the third on my second try... maybe I got easy ones? ...Okay, I'll admit it. I thought the daughter was a Kyrii till I read this. >_> I thought the Stowaway was a kyrii with mutated arms and ears... @__@ Their faces look so much alike. HA! I knew there was going to be a plot, and I even thought it would be similar to this!! *pokes ship on "Coming Soon page* Didn't look like Cyodrake's Gaze to me But the story actually reminded my of the new King Kong movie... and yay for the Tonu!! ^__^ I'm so glad they finally have a plot Tonu, they are so rarely featured My puzzles were too easy, though just brooms and sandsacks.

You can look at the map after completing all three puzzles. Just click on the purple ribbon. There's not much there yet, however.

Wowzers! Probably what I like most about this plot so far is that the heroes are mostly pets that haven't been used as heroes in plots before. I mean, in the NT everyone uses Xweetoks pretty much, but I haven't seen one in a plot before. XD And I haven't actually tried the puzzle yet... *goes to do so* EDIT: Hmm... I did three puzzles then it gave me one and... there were no items to place. Is it supposed to do that?

OOH OOH! FORESHADOWING ALERT!
Since everyone's being reminded of King Kong, you think Lilian will be kidnapped for a human--I mean, Neopian- sacrifice? For some reason, the scent of sacrifice is in the air. *sniff sniff* There! Can't you smell it?

Even if there's no sacrifice, Lilian probably still gets to be the damsel in distress >> Was about to say that Neo is careful about all references to religions and whatnot, but they've been leeway with their plots before... HannahxKanrik, anyone? *has been reading back the old plots today for the sake of her NT series* *mutters something about the Lost Desert comic not loading* ><

Hmmmm, I'm placated! NeoStaff really bank shot this one, as Pyro and many others have said already, one second we're all addressing the new layout, and BOOM! We're all shocked with a new plot. Once I found out about this, I had to drop what I was doing. Komori's right, the character's seem to have more reality, because they seem to have a certain amount of depth. Maybe it's the professions (Ship captains, professors, etc.). Ever since Neovia, the characters, items, worlds in general have had potential for this kind of depth. There's a lot of potential in 19th century settings. I like to call it the Missing Link between Technology and Magic in Neopia. As for this puzzle, it's breaking my brain. Here's what I've got on Puzzle Two... Anyone seen this? TWO ANCHORS!

I was reminded of King Kong too!! xDD And as for the the picture, I know how to solve it.. if you already haven't. ;D The ToW plot was fun in all, but it gave me a lot of headaches. And I've always like this kind of era.. so it'll definitely be one of me favorites.

I've never seen King Kong, so I guess it doesn't feel like that to me. But it also feels like The Mummy, Indianna Jones, Lost World, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and even the freakin' Kimba the White Lion movie. So its similarity to any one particular movie is kinda'... weak? It's an adventure story, and feels like one.

I can see thinking a curse has been overused, but this doesn't strike me as any more mature or less... well, I'll say familiar instead of cliché, because it's not something I exactly mind. They're just drawing on a different genre. That said, I appreciated Tuan not being a pirate and I'm glad of it in this captain's case too, and I cracked up at the Neopian version of the Rosetta Stone. I find myself liking the curmudgeonly captain most at the moment. Random question: which captain in his right mind and with more brain cells than a squid would ask anyone to arrange piles of ropes and mops in a tidy square? Especially with lifebuoys in the ropes. They'll be really easy to fetch when needed from those piles of ropes >> Heh. Personally I don't think this was intended to be a practical exercise -- and as somebody mentioned, several of the items would probably be flexible. I think he was hassling the kid and everything gets put back in a more sensible arrangement afterward. (Either that or it's an adaptation for game purposes and the kid is actually being required to arrange stuff in a neat, efficient, and practical manner where people will not trip all over them in the first place.) I agree with the people who mentioned being reminded of the Mummy. And King Kong, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, The Lost World, Indiana Jones, and something about the art reminds me of Disney's version of A Christmas Carol, but something about the daughter and the Lutari just brought the Mummy very forcibly to mind. Please note, however, that I am not suggesting this is a ripoff and do not think any individual plot is likely to be a good predictor of specific developments. *g* It's more of a genre thing. But... yeah, the Lutari comes off as the sleek (as opposed to scruffy) type of scoundrel. Aside from Lutari Island being a pay thing, we've already got a Lutari character. *grin* Although, granted, it would be pretty amusing if they dutifully followed the coordinates interpreted from this ancient, hard-to-decipher document and were led to either the forgotten ancestral home of the Lutari species or, funnier yet, the current and perfectly well-known one. Which would, you know, have been obscure and scary and hard to find way back when the ancient document was written, and might or might not have even had Lutari on it at the time. "Uh, guys... I don't want to go visit my parents!" On the other hand, if the "Mutant Island Plot" theory is correct, it's entirely possible that the island would have been perceived as being a place of horrors under a curse, especially by someone who had not encountered mutant Neopets before. ...And considering who tends to be responsible for mutants Neopets, I guess the Sloth fans might be very happy in that case.
