Yeah, THAT'S fair.
Geez... And you can no longer catch all pokemon in one game. Sure, there are a lot, but still, they can do it. I want them to bring out an extremely long game where you get to traverse EVERY SINGLE region there is. It could be Ultimate Pokemon: Rainbow.
I don't like the special "event" legendaries either because it makes it impossible to complete the Pokédex if you don't have access to those things. But it's not exactly a new thing. Mew was supposed to be one of those unobtainable ones (although glitches let anyone get it), and that was in the very first games.
Actually, if anything, it's gotten easier to obtain all the Pokémon in a single game, because GTS and WiFi trading eliminates the need to have a second player physically there to trade with you. --- Yeah, but you need to find one first to trade for it.
Anyone here want to battle over wi-fi?

Actually, it is fair to have "events-only" legendaries as well as items that fall under the same category. However, they're usually promos and are only for collectors and such. ... Pokemon: Rainbow? What's the use of trading, then? I think Nintendo did a pretty good job making some Pokemon exist in only one version of Pokemon each generation (for example, Ekans only existed in Pokemon Red for the first Generation), because it encourages players to interact with other players, thus giving it an interactive edge. If they'd make a version where every Pokemon existed, it's like ending the whole Pokemon franchise because it won't be able to encourage players to trade with others to get exclusive Pokemon.

I never considered the trading/collecting thing to be the main draw of the franchise, even if it was made out to be. I highly doubt removing the "exclusive Pokémon" gimmick would end the series. I haven't even really started trying to complete my Pokédex in Diamond because there's so many other things to do.

Yay. I just beat the Elite Four on Diamond! It was surprisingly easy considering my Pokemon's levels were at least 13 lower than theirs... *phails* But I still beat it! EDIT: I never considered the trading/collecting thing to be the main draw of the franchise, even if it was made out to be. I highly doubt removing the "exclusive Pokémon" gimmick would end the series. I haven't even really started trying to complete my Pokédex in Diamond because there's so many other things to do. That's the same for me. I try to catch all the Pokemon, but I fail miserably. XD I'm too impatient for all the searching and catching and training thing. The thing I like most about the Pokemon games is raising them and (what's the word?) customizing (?) their moves and stuff. And there's the other things like the Contests and the Battle Tower. (<3) So yeah, I'm kind of drawn to the other elements. ^^ But catching them is still fun.

Reve's last post reminds me of the time I played Pokemon Yellow. Only Pikachu was at Lvl 40+, everyone else's levels were lower than that. Took me some time before beating the Elite Four, not to mention spend a lot on restoratives. Also, [glow=white,2,300]Shiny[/glow] [glow=brown,2,300]Zigzagoon.[/glow] 'Nuff said.

I always try to catch as many as I can possibly obtain. I don't stress over having every single one of them, though. The newer Legendaries are quite ugly. Actually, there are too many Legenaries now. XD How many mythical Pokemon of majesty can there be in one world? XD The GTS is one of their best ideas/features yet. Never have I ever been able to collect every starter Pokemon in one game. XD

'kk. Diamond/Pearl's remake is confirmed to be called Pokemon Platinum, with Giratina on the cover. Player characters will be getting new outfits (Well, at least Lucas is), and some Pokemon like Giratina, Regigigas, and Shaymin seem to be getting new forms. Source: serebii.net/index2.shtml

A completely random statement just because this has been bothering me. Is there ANYONE out there (besides NPCs ) who actually finds the move "Protect" useful? >___> It's so useless to me that it drives me crazy.

Personally I prefer potions and other items for my healing/defense needs, and moves for offense. I've beaten the Elite Four multiple times without any healing/defense/stat changing moves on Yellow and Gold. Yeah, I know those aren't the newest games in the series, so sue me. I hope to get a newer game(one for GBA) soon. On the subject of training styles, I know they say you're supposed to level up your Poke'mon equally, but that's not actually what I do. I get a "tag-team dream-team" as I call it, that is, two superpoweful Poke'mon that combined can defeat anything. For example, in Yellow I have Pikachu and Pidgeot, both 80+. Anything Pikachu is weak against, mostly Rock and Ground, Pidgeot is strong against. The opposite is also true; Flying and Normal movesets do no damage to Ghosts, whereas Pikachu's Electric attacks are strong against them. Most of the other Poke'mon types can be defeated by either with relative ease.

Yeah, Protect is like the ultimate annoying move. xP How many times have you been fighting a gym leader or someone with Protect (like Maylene's Meditite for example), who just keeps using it? T_T
But mhm, I think it's a pretty useless move for in-game battles. Like Leo said, if you're playing online against real people, it can come in handy.
