You like reading books? Want to write one of your own? Do you have a whole lot of favorite authors that you run out of fingers every time you count 'em on your two hands? THIS is the club for you, where all you book lovers can come discuss the newest titles, conduct reviews, and perhaps debate on theories behind your favorite novels.
DA RULES! 1. You have to be a real book buff - to apply, list down THREE of your favorite authors, and why you like their books so much.
2. Don't bash other authors or stories or novels or whatnot. This is NOT the place to put them down. All authors and their creations have their own imperfections. But things you can debate on are puzzles, theories and hints of upcoming sequels in books, stuff like that. Which brings us to our next rule:
3. SPOILER SPACES. When you make reviews or when you simply HAVE to state that tantalizing bit of info from the book, like who the Half-Blood Prince is in HP6, make spoiler spaces, because you really never know who has actually read the books you have and, who hasn't. As much as possible, no spoilers.
4. Pick a custom title once you're in the member list. 'Cause custom titles are FUN. ;D And they don't always have to have anything to do with books.
5. Have fun!
MEMBER'D: Kat - Medieval Fantasy Maniac Sammy - The Poser Bookworm Fj0rd - Girl Who's Read Everything Belle - [insert title here] Amy - Long Read Lover Echo - Inkfingers Lei - [insert title here]
UPCOMING EVENTS: ~Dan Brown fans rejoice! DVC is now in theaters! ~Lemony Snicket's 13th - and last novel - to be released this October 13, 2006! Friday the 13th! Don't forget your eight-leaf clovers! ~More book-turned-movie events? The Devil Wears Prada, coming soon, starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway!
BADGE-IFICATION: Belle = pwnage. ^_~ See my signature.

Sign meh up plz! *is a wee bit of a bookworm*
Wait, only 13 days until the movie?! D: Oh crud, I gotta get reading! *made a bet with Ray about the book*
Okay, so I'd be "Sammy the Poser Bookwork". XD Fun!
Oh, and the authors too... K.
Elizabeth Kay - I love her Divide Trilogy. No, I absolutely ADORE it. You see, the Divide Trilogy is fantasy, and I've always loved fantasy book. But, no, this one is different. The Divide tells about another world on the other side of the Contenental Divides - a mix-match world where mythical creatures exist and real creatures are the myths. WOW! The originality of this idea just amazes me. Most fantasy authors have the same plots. Well, the Divide is like that, but Elizabeth Kay puts a spin on her work. I <3 her.
Anthony Horowitz - Oh hellz yeah. ATTENTION EVERYONE. YOU NEED TO READ HIS WORK. Anthony Horowitz writes the greatest books on the planet. Seriously. For Battle of the Books, we had to read Stormbreaker. The plot - amazing! Now, I'm not into secret agent/spying kinda' plots, but the Alex Rider series is just GENIUS! A 14-year-old boy that's a secret agent, having the most amazing adventures of his life? Once again - the writing is purely genius. Anthony Horowitz has DEFIANTLY hooked me on his books.
Natsuki Takaya - Yeah, for those of you who don't know (and most of you probably do. *coughElycienStalRidercough*) Natsuki is the author of Fruits Basket/Furuba. I don't love it as much as I do the other books I read, but she is defiantly one of my fav authors. I mean, Fruits Basket has the coolest plotline ever. I mean, it's just so hard to put her books down. I need to know what happens in the next book. Plus there's so many sub-plots, it's so cool! ...Yeah.
I feel like I'm doing book reports here. XDDD

...you mean I have to pick THREE? Dude, why couldn't we do like thirteen or something... -__-
Garth Nix-- His Abhorsen trilogy is widely known among readers of that sort of stuff as good fantasy writing, and it is. He's inventive, creative, and clever with his ability to alternately circumvent possible cliches in his writing--and twist the same cliches to hilarious improbability in his humorous pieces. His characters have believable relationships and are believable themselves, and he knows how to add humor to a dark situation.
Charles deLint--Became the father of urban fantasy or "mythic fiction" with his book MOONHEART, which is awesome. Uses elements from Native American myths as well as traditional fantasy and winds it all up with real-as-life characters and flawless plots with stunning artistry, and you've got a real winner.
Emma Bull--Following in the proud footsteps of Charles deLint into mythic fiction, Ms. Bull has created some of the most memorable urban fantasy novels on the market. Her characters interact believably and the villain in her book WAR FOR THE OAKS is utterly, despicably evil. Her Bordertown novel, FINDER, has no particular villain, which in a way makes it even more poignant. Though both these were written twenty-plus years ago, went out of print and were republished, many or all of the issues she addresses in these two books are still salient today.
And, um... I'll have the title of Girl Who's Read Everything. Because I nearly have. XD

Elizabeth Kay I'm not so sure about but I think I've at least seen the books somewhere. Edit: Yeah, just checked the library site and reserved the first one... I have seen them at libraries and bookstores and all that, but I've never picked them up. *tends to judge books by their covers sometimes which is a bad thing to do but oh well*

Three of mah fave authors ('CAUSE IT'S ONLY FAIR XD)
Tamora Pierce: Seriously, her books, especially the Tortall ones, are awesome, especially if you love reading medieval-themed or fantasy novels. Although some of the books get a little PG for fight scenes that have quite a bit of blood, they're a great read, and often full of unexpected twists and well-rounded characters. I got hooked on her only last year, but she's been publishing since 1980.
Lemony Snicket: His ASOUE series are a great read if you're looking for something different. The dark humor, the brief interrupting definitions of rare or common vocab words and phrases, and the fact that the author himself is somewhat a character in the story...it's so unorthodox that it's awesome, even if sometimes you get a little annoyed when he suddenly interrupts during a good part of the story.
Nicholas Sparks: If you're in the mood for a romantic story that will give you that giddy feeling or that will make you cry, his books are the ones for you. It's better to read his novels than to watch them as movies...and he describes everything so simply and yet so vividly.

Oooh, ooh! Meh want to join! ^^ Er, and Jeran rocks! Some authors I love: Anne McCaffrey. I discovered how pwnsome she is through the NTAG and I'm glad I did. She is the author of the famous "Dragonriders of Pern" series. She writes both science fiction and fantasy. I love all her works! I especially enjoyed reading the "Harper Hall" trilogy and the "Talent" series. ^^ Madeleine L'Engle. One of the first authors whose works I fell in love with. ^^ I guess her works could be classified as magical realism. I love the books about the Murry-O' Keefs. Francesca Lia Block. I've only read one of her books (Witch Baby) but I think she's awesome! I don't really know why I love her. I just do.

Well...if you can make a badge, it's all up to you what you want it to look like, but of course, it has to be a book or an open book to emphasize our theme. XD

Here it is: This one doesn't have our club's initials on it but this'll look better on the club holder cushion thing Ikkin made. ^^ And, these have our initials on 'em. I'll be back later with more samples. EDIT: Here it is if placed on Ikkin's club-holder. ^^

Belle and her badges = pwnage. I'm so adding it to my sig. Are you willing to host the images? I'll put them on the first post. EDIT: Hmmm...the one with no letters looks better against the holder, I agree, and it's rather obvious what it would stand for. XD But yes, I'd like to see more samples.

I wanna join! And my title can be uh.. Long Read Lover. 'Cause I love long books. ^^ Here's my authors: Mark Haddon: The book that got me into him is, 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time'. It was an amazing book, portraying an autistic 15 year old boy who does maths problems in his spare time and loathes the colours brown and yellow. This author has quiet a different writing style to other authors (I think so anyway ) because the things he writes about the most original ideas, like the Curious Incident book. This author is a Whitebread Award winner, too, so that means he's pretty good at his talent of writing. ^^ J.K Rowling: Well, the books that got me into her are obviously the Harry Potter books. These are probably my favourite books of all time. The way she writes is... amazing. The 6th Potter book, The Half Blood Prince, outdid the other books in the series by miles because of how Rowling has progressed through out her time writing the Harry Potter series. JK Rowling can over come writers block pretty well, which is a good thing to be able to do. She has a nice personality as well. ^_^ Meg Cabot: This author is the the famous author of the Princess Diaries series,as well as other books like, 'All American Girl', 'Victoria and the Rogue', 'Nicola and the Viscount' and 'Haunted'. I like this author because of the way she writes things in a way that teenagers like us can relate too, since in most of her books, the main character, Mia Thermopolis, obsessed over things like the prom, her boyfriend, her friends, and things normal girls can relate to. And I like that. ^^ EDIT: Ignore the last one, I got it to work. XD
