Wait, I just caught this in passing, but it sparked my attention.
Someone want to clear up exactly why no one is allowed to make preview threads until a certain time on a certain day and when/who made this rule? o.o

I'm not sure who made it, but the idea is that by postponing the preview thread, people would be more likely to stay on the review thread for longer, which is better for authors.

The trend was noticed I think the end of last year and thus the rule was made to give the Review board a chance n:)

Someone want to clear up exactly why no one is allowed to make preview threads until a certain time on a certain day and when/who made this rule? o.o I think it was established a long time ago that previews were to be made on Tuesdays, NST, because the tendency of a preview thread is to draw attention away from the review thread, which often becomes almost deserted when a preview thread has been made. Sometimes review threads are only a page or two long when people make preview threads too soon, because people start flocking there instead and leaving the current review thread to die. Man, I miss those days when review threads were often more than five pages long... EDIT: Listen to Ikkin and Scar. I babble. XD

I kind of agree with moving it later in the week, as there's been many times when a story or comic gets no reviews and then it's forgotten. Maybe we should vote on it? I'd like to make a poll to move preview threads to Wednesday NST or Thursday NST, but I should probably get the OK signal from the mods first. EDIT: And I think there was once a rule wherein if you wanted a review, you had to review someone else's work first, something like a fair exchange. What happened to this rule? Just asking.

Maybe we should vote on moving it to Wednesdays? I kind of agree with the idea. Reviews threads were always more important than previews, I thought. *shrug*

More important for authors, and budding authors can read them too so they can pick up some points. I'll ask Stal if I can make a poll.

Or, we could eliminate the previews thread completely................. it really doesn't serve much purpose than to brag to each other, since we all hear about each other's pieces through the grapevine (and through stalking the collabs boards 0_0;; anyway! xD *runs away for suggesting such a thing* Might I direct everyone's attention back to the 235 reviews thread and the wonderful selections that are just DYING to hear your thoughts?

Hm. *shrugs* Just curious was all. Sounded a bit...well..."picky" if you ask me, but that's my opinion. People who are going to give reviews will probably give them regardless of whether a new preview thread is posted or not.
Rules of thumb are good, though...as long as people who don't follow them aren't lynched for breaking it. And considering it ain't exactly published anywhere, or modly enforced, it's not like it'll be a well known thing.

And honestly, does it really matter who got what in each week? Well, perhaps it matters when special issues abound and people have special stories/articles/comics that adhere to the theme. D'you think we should abolish regular preview threads and just make them for special issues? Or would that be too harsh?

I think getting rid of them would be a bad idea, but that's just my opinion. Maybe put that in the poll?

I mean, just to get some permission, because I could end up causing chaos in the Times Lobby for that. XD

Woah woah woah, people.
Calm down. XD I'll bring it up in Mod Squad.
But the thing is, this isn't an official rule. Enforcing it is WAY too strict and kind of a bad use of being a mod. And members can't exactly do well to enforce it, either. I only came and asked for a short history lesson, since this was the first I'd ever heard of such a thing. Although I don't think it'll work or matter at all if a preview thread doesn't exist. People will review or won't review regardless of what threads exist.
So hold your horses and wait a bit...I'll see what everyone else says on the matter. o.o
That'll teach me to go asking questions again. XD

(That's "thank you very much" in Filipino) True, enforcing it seems...sort of tight. Thanks, Stal. Let us know what the other mods think.
