xD .. I prefer an umbrella, it's closer to a shinai, and it gives me more range than house keys. I have a 9/10 accuracy ratio when it comes to stabbing the throat with a shinai, so yeah. It helps that I turn the lights off with my shinai. Hrm, I prefer to get up close because, see, with something like an umbrella you need room to swing and the only deadly part is the sharp bit at the end. A little house key with its edges sharpened can be used up close even when cornered and is easy to hide so they won't know what hit em. And thugs generally are dumb and try to tackle you so it's most effective. Oh and you can fit three house keys between the fingers of your fists and scratch like a cat *nod nod* :3 ... I came from a rough neighbourhood before >_> ...... And I thought stabbing in Kendo was only for advanced students? <_< xD .. depends on what sort of cut you're using. If it's a stab, you don't need any room to swing. It's a simple forward thrust towards the throat. And the house keys thing sounds like brass knuckles. *nods* ..equally effective, assuming that you're up close from the start. Not at a distance. And well. >__> |

Well sharp keys don't get confiscated by the cops compared with wooden sticks, brass knuckles or knives :3 And for me the whole point if to try not to get hit, long range or otherwise so it doesn't matter for me.
All I aim for is the neck. Stop staring at me like that >_>;

If you're at a distance of five feet or more, an umbrella made into a makeshift shinai works better. If you're close, then a fist augmented with keys makes for a good one hit that'll allow you to escape. |

Up close and personal is not my thing, I'd prefer 100 yards away on a roof top with a bolt action rifle, and a red dot scope. Heck, give me iron sights, I can live with it XD |
