Tech Week, also referred to as Hell Week, is the transitional period between rehearsals and performances of a show (whether it be a straight play, an opera, balley, musical, etc.). During this week, all the technical aspects of the show are put together. Lighting cues are added and run, sound cues are run, spotlight operators learn who they're spotting, deck crew learns what set pieces to move and where, the props crew learn what props they need to preset, and the stage manager starts to practice calling the show. It's been nicknamed Hell Week by many (though I've only seen it referred to as such by high school drama kids, or just actors), because it's a long, tiring process for both the stagehands, and the actors. Often times, at the beginning of the week, the show is put on hold at several points during the run. Literally, the stage manager says "hold" into the God mic. Everyone from the crew to the cast is to halt what they're doing as problems are resolved. These problems can be anything from re-blocking a scene around a new set piece, to re-running a scene change with the deck crew, to having the lighting designer tweak a few lights for the directors vision/pleasure. And this is your second Backstage Theatre 101 lesson for the day. XD Ahhh. Fun?? XD

*glompkiss* My day has been good. I finished Hunters of Dune, which is yay and makes me admire the authors quite a bit for how they tied everything together. 'Course, I still need to read Sandworms of Dune to know the actual end of the Dune story. Which I will do once I get it from the library. ^_^ How's your day been? ^__^ .. yay, Dune's an awesome series from what I've heard. Haven't actually read it myself, but my dad's a fan. I'll try and get a few books off him when I see him over Christmas. My day technically has just started. xD .. woke up around 9 and spend most of my time doing nothing. You must read the Dune books. 'Tis such an awesome series. ^_^ With you, it's hard to tell when your day starts, you know. So I may as well ask.

(Unless, of course, I'm stage managing. In which case I have to worry about everything.)

I would have had to finish mine by 2:30 tomorrow, but I wasn't exactly going to be writing at that time.. so I had to get it done tonight. xP Yeah, the horses and cats are the one thing I look forward to on Thanksgiving. Because I try to spend more time around them than my relatives. I don't.. um.. relate to my relatives. They're strange people. And the cats neet love. <3 Even if they're skittish.

Dune is a decent series. I've only read the first book, though... I generally don't care for sequels.
Ooh, theater. I like backstage theater. =D
Y'know, sometimes I wish I'd stuck with ballet when I was a kid. >> Maybe then I'd have done something like that and wouldn't have to write out huge amounts of annoying papers about fish. Fish, of all things.

Not to mention you came on not too much later and said something about the takeover. But I didn't post after that. xP Sooo yeah.

Fish, of all things. The prequels are better than the sequals. The sequals are weird. Especially God-Emperor of Dune. That one is more for linking the books together than anything else, I suspect.

I rescued a kitten plushie the other day, did I tell you? She was in the lost and found box where I work, and after a week the box gets emptied. So instead of emptying her with the rest of the items, I took her in.
