Yeah. No offense to your church but anyone who thinks that you can join the devil by reading a book, is a little bit extreme. What do you do? Nod and smile, or try to tell them it's not that bad? Actually, for the most part, my church is better than a lot. They don't really approve of the series, because of the content and so forth. But they're not going to condemn anyone who does read it. Maybe debate with them, or think it's just an indication of a rebellious attitude and all. That's just the administration, though, and doesn't say much about the personal opinions of the members... I haven't really had to put up with it, because I just don't bring up that I do read the HP series unless it's with someone I know who won't get all huffy about it (not worth the effort). That's good. I mean, they're the Harry potter books, people are going to read them eventually if they want to. Yeah, coming from one of the more liberal towns in the most liberal state, I don't know anyone who's like that. |
