One letter to Nickelodeon's top brass that I hope hides my hatred for their network and its treatment of Avatar pretty well.

Dear [insert name of proper Nick exec here],

I have recently heard from the internet's most trusted source of Avatar information that there is a possibility that the Avatar Season 3 premiere may be delayed until September for unknown reasons. It is a known fact among the Avatar online community that the premiere will be complete and ready to air sometime during April, and that the decision to hold off until September can be avoided.

I would suggest that by delaying the premiere until September, there is much to lose and little to gain. It is fairly likely that such a long delay could turn away viewers who otherwise might have watched the show, but who could not deal with the endless reruns that would be necessary if no new episodes were aired until September. "Escape from the Spirit World" type promotions might help keep the interest of some, but it would seem likely that those fans who are not already into the show might not find such promotions to be satisfying over such a long break. The avid fans who would most enjoy such games are unlikely to be satiated by them for long, either, and considering the fact that many of them watch your network solely for the show, there might be effects on your other programming.

I believe that an April 27th (or even earlier) premiere would be more profitable for your company while still allowing for any specially-planned episodes to remain where they are. If the Nickelodeon Movie Summer begins on the second week of June, there would be six weeks in which three episodes could be played, one every other week. Considering the fact that Avatar fans tend to be interested enough in what will happen next that they would watch your network solely to see Avatar commercials, this could potentially raise your ratings for other shows.

Assuming that the summer movies would end on the first week of August and not contain any episodes of Avatar, the fourth episode could air on the 10th of August. This would leave twelve weeks for episodes four through seven, if the Halloween specials are aired on the 26th of October, or one episode every three weeks. Since the mid-season movie would be scheduled for around Thanksgiving, that would leave episode nine to be aired on the ninth for a once-every-two weeks schedule until then.

I would be most pleased if you would reconsider the plan to delay Avatar's Season 3 premiere until September. I believe it could be better for both the fans of the show and your network.
